It has nothing to do with discrediting the manager - if the previous manager had signed Jones or Poulsen i would be saying the same thing and if the previous manager had signed J Cole the risks of his signing would still be the same . If Cole stays fit and injury free and returns to his form of before his last serious injury then we have a great player but until then im still not going to claim it the signing of the season - we have been burnt before .

He's probably just broke even on his net spend now, he's brought in Cole, Poulsen, Jones for 7M and sold Yossi for 6M. That's not bad business.

From what I can gather Roy's transfer buget was 10million plus player sales that were started once he was manager, Yossi's and Riera's transfers were lined up at the end of Rafas reign so that money doesn't get added to Roy's kitty.

So we could only have 3million left if Mach or Babel don't leave

I think the point is very much that we've signed a second or third rate goalie and paid £2.3m for him, with Rafa having done the same with Cavalieri for £3m. The debate isn't about the keeper, it is about a signing policy. Perhaps you'd be happier if a mod renamed the thread to reflect the debate - "should we pay £2m for reserve keepers who ain't much good to start with?"
