Nor am I but he gets this ban for supposedly terrible act and yet within days Barca are hovering around for his signature, certainly a fishy aroma about it .

Fantastic but flawed player who I would have liked to have seen stay. However club will always be bigger then individual and must say his performance last year made up for his off season petulance.

If he goes I wont mind as long as we don't get screwed over with the fee including some bit player ala Owen transfer.

Personally if he is going, I rather it be now then we have cop his ban and then heads off next season

As a LFC supporter for the past 43 years it pains me to see a player with the caliber of Luis leave but we cannot blame him for his decision. every player will only play for themself as will the club making all their decisions to be commercially successful both on and off the pitch. the game has been tainted with a lot of oil money and business people and unfortunately we just have to live with it.

While I agree with that sentiment in fairness to the players it isn't a one way street. How many players go through a lean stretch or return from injury and get lambasted by so call fans wanting instant success. You only have look at how many people were quite happy to sell a class act like Xabi Alonso after he had one injury hampered poor season to bring in Barry

I don't buy into this conspiracy stuff. The ban affects all football so it's not only detrimental to us, hence doesn't force us to sell. Obviously we're in a catch 22 with regards to keeping him or letting him go - I personally don't want LFC to comment on anything at all, I'd rather we just sell him and let Barca fight the ban, at least then we can fight for his full value and Barca may cough up early so they can get this whole thing resolved in time for the start of the season. He's a nutcase and its a shame he'll leave on the back of this

I've been reading how media in other countries have reported it and they've gave it nowhere near as much coverage as ours, I'm sure his treatment from the media in this country will give him food for thought about leaving though. All the best to him if this all goers smoothly

Good. Don't bend over to Barca's demands. Pay up or do one. I'm hoping Madrid come in and offer a better package  :D

Initially I was dead set against the deal but when you think it through it makes sense from Liverpool's point of view.
Suarez would be on the verge of turning 28 by the time FIFA let him lace up a pair of boots for us again and £80m for someone that age is phenomenal money really.
We are not Man City or Chelsea, we just can't afford to turn our noses up at that type of money, a war chest like that will allow us to have a serious rebuild at a time when a rebuild is really needed (Gerrard nearing the end etc).
When the player only has a year or two of his footballing prime left the club would have to be mad not to consider cashing in, if Luis was 25 then I'm sure it would be a different story.
As brilliant as he has been for us he has always had one eye on the exit door, he had no compunction at all about going to one of our direct rivals last season, In fact he got a cob on and starting calling Rodgers a liar when the club refused to let him leave. Remember those interviews from Uruguay? Remember the gob on him in Melbourne after we scored? That wasn't because we wouldn't let him go to Real Madrid or Barcelona that was because we wouldn't let him go to friggin Arsenal!
I think this club deserved better than that from him especially considering the way people like Kenny Dalglish and Glenn Johnson etc went out on a wire for him.
He did the business on the pitch though and that's where it really counts and that's why he'll always be fondly remembered.
I think the time is right to part ways though.

I feel exactly the same. God knows when he'll be fit and ready after this ban, will he even be the same player? It's Luis Suarez so the answer is probably yes but we can't be certain. We're starting the season without him so I say finish it without him. Just hope we can get in the quality we need to replace him. Sanchez in would cushion the blow

There was never genius without a touch of madness. Good luck Luis I say, he'll definitely be fondly remembered

Just get it sorted now. I'm bored with the whole thing if I'm honest.

£50m + Sanchez or £80m upfront. Simple.

Liverpool and Barcelona are understood to be £20million apart as they begin transfer talks over Luis Suarez .

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre is meeting a Barcelona delegation, led by technical director Raul Sanllehi, in London today to discuss Suarez's move to the Nou Camp.

Liverpool value Suarez at £80million because they feel he has proved he is one of the world's best strikers with his 31 Premier League goals last season .

Barcelona feel that figure is too high because of his four-month ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini and they will argue the striker is worth £60million.

The Catalans want to include Alexis Sanchez in the deal and they value the Chile World Cup forward at £32million.

Although both sides are willing to do a deal, Suarez's valuation could prove to be a major sticking point.

Liverpool feel they are in a strong bargaining position because Suarez signed a new long-term deal earlier this year and because Barcelona are so keen to sign him.

Barcelona feel Liverpool's position has been weakened because of his ban and the fact the player wants to leave.

Sanchez is another complication and while Liverpool want him and Barcelona are happy to include him in any deal, the South American is not keen on moving to Anfield.

He would prefer to stay at the Nou Camp and has told friends he would rather join Arsenal if he does go.

Liverpool will demand a straight £80million cash deal if Sanchez refuses to come to Anfield, which Barcelona are unwilling to pay.

What is clear is that Liverpool want to resolve the situation quickly and they do not want another summer saga over Suarez's future hanging over their pre-season preparations.

Barca can do one if that's the case. I do get the feeling that the Sanchez factor is going to cause complications mind. The next issue is how Suarez behaves after we have spoken to Barca - he'd be well advised to keep his mouth closed but this is Luis Suarez afterall...

this is what happens when you try to do business with barca. they wont pay the 80 mil because they value him at 60 and if it comes down to it, they wont want to pay that either and will want to make it up with other players.
i really dont think we should be bending over to suit suarez anymore so if the barca deal doesnt suit us then tough titties luis. just because he wants barca dont mean we have to agree and lose our valuation just to keep him happy.
we should offer him to anyone who is willing to meet our asking price
