Initially I was dead set against the deal but when you think it through it makes sense from Liverpool's point of view.
Suarez would be on the verge of turning 28 by the time FIFA let him lace up a pair of boots for us again and £80m for someone that age is phenomenal money really.
We are not Man City or Chelsea, we just can't afford to turn our noses up at that type of money, a war chest like that will allow us to have a serious rebuild at a time when a rebuild is really needed (Gerrard nearing the end etc).
When the player only has a year or two of his footballing prime left the club would have to be mad not to consider cashing in, if Luis was 25 then I'm sure it would be a different story.
As brilliant as he has been for us he has always had one eye on the exit door, he had no compunction at all about going to one of our direct rivals last season, In fact he got a cob on and starting calling Rodgers a liar when the club refused to let him leave. Remember those interviews from Uruguay? Remember the gob on him in Melbourne after we scored? That wasn't because we wouldn't let him go to Real Madrid or Barcelona that was because we wouldn't let him go to friggin Arsenal!
I think this club deserved better than that from him especially considering the way people like Kenny Dalglish and Glenn Johnson etc went out on a wire for him.
He did the business on the pitch though and that's where it really counts and that's why he'll always be fondly remembered.
I think the time is right to part ways though.
