Good addition but what about our Top priority position? This guy will probably take Sterling's place but where the Central MF gap we must fill?

:;):  Hope he wasn't talking about Tom Ince....

Heard somewhere that we are looking at Konoplyanka , and could sort a deal by Friday ??? Really?

I'd take Tom Ince over some bloke from the Ukranian PL.

That konoplyanka is good you know mate, I remember when England played Ukraine and at the time we were being heavily linked with the winger on the opposite flank yarmalenko but konoplyanka stole the show, I remember thinking we are going for the wrong winger here! I'd be made up if we signed him

From what I remember reading about him some time back, He's quite versatile, can play both wings, and as a deep and advanced play maker (sitting just behind the striker). He's strong as well, which is a must for the MF. Please just get it done by Friday.......

We do need to sort the defence out as well though

His performance at wembley was better (he scores a worldly) but I can only find clips of the game in Ukraine.
It's worth watching though because he more than matches Kyle walker for pace on numerous occassions which shows you how quick this fella is -http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F0EK2LC2Jbc

from "Express online"

Liverpool launch £15m bid for Ukraine star Yevhen Konoplyanka

Konoplyanka plays for Dnipro and can operate in a variety of attacking positions, on both flanks and behind a striker. He would cost in excess of £15m.

The Anfield club has targeted the 24-year-old after missing out on Mohamed Salah last week when Chelsea gazumped them for the Basel winger.

Rodgers, buoyed by last night’s rampant 4-0 victory over city rivals Everton, said: "Hopefully we can have a major signing before the window shuts.

"I think we will hopefully do something over the next couple of days."

Konoplyanka caught the eye for Ukraine during their World Cup qualifying games with England en route to Brazil.

He scored a stunning long range strike in a 1-1 draw at Wembley in September 2012 and then gave Kyle Walker a torrid evening when operating on the left wing as the rematch ended 0-0 in Kiev 12 months later.

Liverpool have tracked him for months and considered moving for him back in August when a deal for Brazilian winger Willian failed.

But Rodgers is now pinning his hopes of attracting Konoplyanka before the window slams shut on Friday and boosting his squad who bolstered their Champions League hopes with the rout of Everton.

Although Liverpool are in need of midfield reinforcements, Rodgers wants to be able to influence matches by using his substitutes and the arrival of Konoplyanka would allow him to rotate the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling more often.

Rodgers admitted he would be disappointed if no signings were made, but reiterated the support he has received from owners, Fenway Sports Group.

"It couldn't be further from the truth that I am angry with the club," he said. "I came here to do a collective effort to turn around the fortunes of the club.

"The people here are very important to what we are doing and we want to do it together."

Like the fella, think he'll do well for us,a good addition to the squad. I'm just not sure if it's the type of signing we need right now

we dithered around for 2 and a 1/2 months over salah(according to his agent) so whats the chances of that numpty ayre sorting this out in 2 days.
never seen the lad play outside of you tube but i hope he is a quality player and good enough to make a starting place his own.
serious question though, has he been a target or is this just a signing to appease the fans, the reason i ask is because if he was a genuine target why would we take so long to make a move with so little time left.

at that price though he will cost more than salah which makes us look stoopid and this more of a panic buy.

It's obvious we need a DM above everything but at the same time I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, that konoplyanka probably had the edge on Kyle walker for speed and walker is Effin' Olympic so this lad must have turbo chargers in his boots. He's very skillfull too, given the choice between konoplyanka and Salah I'd opt for konoplyanka but konoplyanka is going to cost us double what we were prepared to pay for Salah. If the owners want to pay out that type of money on a quality player then more power to their elbow I say.
Walker is extremely quick, he may even be the quickest player in the prem, if konoplyanka can have him straining every sinew in a foot race he's going to breeze past most fullbacks like they aren't there.

This Konoplyanka fella is the real deal guys.

Quick and skillful (not this nonsense of knocking the ball 20m in front of you and chasing it down) he is everything we need to compete in Europe next season.

He is not even in the same ball park as the Egyptian pretender, although he will probably cost us double.

If Ayre can pull a miracle out of his a**e and sign him before someone else snaps him up, we will have one of most feared frontlines in England.

Don't want to get my hopes up as we know with past experiences this can go pear shaped very quickly!

I bow to Rodgers better judgement, I know nothing of him.

Ah, Konoplyanka, my dad's favorite player :D. I personally prefer Yarmolenko but apparently Konoplyanka is the better of the two. Way better than Salah in any case, that much I'm sure of.

However, I agree with what's being said above. Is this the type of player that we need right now? I'd rather we looked at wingers during the summer window and concentrate on midfielders in this one instead.
