ive said this more than once, I'm convinced that when spurs hijack our pursuits (Ericsson, sigurdsson, Dempsey, etc) it's an intentional strategy. The difference is we are in the strong position now. I can't see them winning this time. Bunch of mugs

We never bid for Eriksen though and Dempsey turned out to be ***** and Siggurdsson hasnt really set the world alight

even if they announce we've signed him I won't believe it until I see him skin 4 players, dance around another 3 surge into the box and stick one in the onion bag, run to the kop kissing the liverbird on his red shirt.

I disagree, there were reports at the time we had made an approach for Eriksen.

Regardless, you're missing the point. Without the benefit of hindsight, at the time these players were targets of ours and in some cases concrete targets that were hijacked by Spurs. I believe that Spurs strategically bid and in signed these players to prevent Liverpool further strengthening. At one point last season it got normal to see that Spurs declared interest or had bid on one our our pursuits.

I don't blame them, the tactic can be effective in stifling progress from a team you see as a competitor. In my opinion, Spurs are worried of a resurgent Liverpool and can see the impact we can make if we make the right signings. We already have a far superior commercial setup, in fact in terms of global size we are peers with established CL sides. The Salah deal also says to me that this seasons progress under Rodgers has caught the eye of the Chelsea hierarchy. Chelsea normally make their interest known in players months before a bid is made, yet Salah was signed days after our bid was made.

Did we really bid on him back in November outside of the transfer window?

Methinks not.

Maybe declared interest, but no bid.

Sky sports are saying that we are delaying on the Konoplyanka deal and a flurry of bets overnight has seen Spurs price go down to 6-4 to sign him

No one is certain, but you can always have the deal arranged much earlier, and the player to join when the window opens.

I'm not too sure about this Ukraine guy BTW. Oleg Luzhicy(sp), the former Arsenal defender called him a headless chicken as he doesn't run back enough. TBH, I see his point as when I watched France beat Ukraine, he was very poor. Oleg goes on to say that the Italian or Spanish league is more suited to him as it doesn't require that much running and tracking back.

i know it's all hot air and cyber dribble so far  but i'm amazed at the energy we are placing on a winger. Would love to see quality joining LFC no doubt ,but where are our priorities? We have no FB's ,no CM and our attacking game (so far) has been the best.

Yes the math is brilliant  :bowdown  ,however if you want to score we need possession football ,without a strong MF ,we just won't have the ball....

from sky sports transfer centre

Liverpool and Tottenham are understood to be fighting it out to sign Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger Yevhen Konoplyanka before the transfer deadline. Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre flew out to Ukraine this week to discuss the signing of the 24-year-old, who has made 35 appearances for his country.

Really i think anyone would be crazy to join Spurs now after what happened to a lot of the players they bought in the summer
