Could well be bull$hit but would hate to lose out to them again ffs
ive said this more than once, I'm convinced that when spurs hijack our pursuits (Ericsson, sigurdsson, Dempsey, etc) it's an intentional strategy. The difference is we are in the strong position now. I can't see them winning this time. Bunch of mugs
We never bid for Eriksen though and Dempsey turned out to be ***** and Siggurdsson hasnt really set the world alight
I disagree, there were reports at the time we had made an approach for Eriksen.
Regardless, you're missing the point. Without the benefit of hindsight, at the time these players were targets of ours and in some cases concrete targets that were hijacked by Spurs. I believe that Spurs strategically bid and in signed these players to prevent Liverpool further strengthening. At one point last season it got normal to see that Spurs declared interest or had bid on one our our pursuits.
I don't blame them, the tactic can be effective in stifling progress from a team you see as a competitor. In my opinion, Spurs are worried of a resurgent Liverpool and can see the impact we can make if we make the right signings. We already have a far superior commercial setup, in fact in terms of global size we are peers with established CL sides. The Salah deal also says to me that this seasons progress under Rodgers has caught the eye of the Chelsea hierarchy. Chelsea normally make their interest known in players months before a bid is made, yet Salah was signed days after our bid was made.
