I am not chairman of the stu fan club, but even I can see talent even if results don't support it. ***** players can often look good due to team set up, unselfish play, moments of brilliance, etc. and vice versa.

I am sure there have been many average players succeed well beyond their individual talents, due to the teams they play in and I am also sure fantastically talented players have not, for whatever reason.

Stu is easy to deal with, just don't call a good player world class.  :wwww

it amazes me at how much our players will go through just to play in a friendly

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... nt-2802264

"I've had a lot of treatment last few days, I've been working hard to make sure I'm okay," he said.

"I'm going to go out on the training field today and I'm raring to go for the game."

He was forced to miss the 2-0 defeat to the South Americans on Friday night and the 24-year-old admits it was difficult having to watch on from the sidelines.

"It was very frustrating," he added. "It's important for me to be fit and to play for England, it's an opportunity that I'm relishing.

"If I can remain fit, that's what's important for me, to be putting on the England shirt and playing.

"It's not a serious injury so I'm hopeful that it doesn't continue to linger on. I've been playing with it for the past couple of games and it's been hindering my performance.

"But I had a scan and I'm ready to go, I'm delighted the pain's not too bad and I'm looking forward to it."

again like gerrard i believe the club should have not released him for this. by sturridge's own admission he has been carrying an injury that has been hindering his performances for us.
we have a tight squad that cannot do without 2 of our best players.
was talking about gerrards jabs with a few mates the other day and it was said that no player will want to miss out on the W.C. it then shifted to how much commitment they will give in the run in to the season, especially in the last month. no one will want to pick up an injury that will rule them out. anyone who needs an operation will also push to get it early so they have time to recover.
if we are still pushing hard for C.L come next mar-apr, can we really rely on these 2 to give us 100% in everything ?

Apparently, he and his physio left early from the England training today.

It would be a shame to have both Sturridge and Suarez out for the Everton match for stupid reasons. Why haven't Uruguay let Suarez leave early anyway?

its amazing how many supporters can't acknowledge that players, especially their own, WANT to play for club and country. Especially in friendlies that lead up to selection to the pinnacle of world football.

No player will put club over country if it meant risking losing a World Cup squad place.

do you really think for one minute that gerrard or sturridge will lose their place in next years W.C if they werent available for these nothing games ?.
i have no problem with players wanting to represent their country so i dont know where you got that from.
my problem is that the club know that these players are not fully fit but allow them to be included anyway.

I do actually.

There are no more competitive games. Friendlies are the only games available to prove international ability. League form comes and goes, Sturridge will be no exception. I fully back his ability to make the works cup on league form alone but Sturridge will want to cement his chances and his best way is to impress in England games. Especially against the likes of Germany.

cant believe you think they would.
there will be at least 4 more friendlies before the W.C starts and they will have more than enough time to impress, not that gerrard needs it. sturridge has pretty much made himself a part of the squad with the form he has been showing since last january. if he finishes the season in similar form then he will be a certain starter alongside shrek.
whether he plays tomorrow night or not wont ruin his chances, playing with an injury and stinking the place out might. thats not even taking into consideration that he should further aggravate the injury and miss several games for us in the process.

I absolutely love the way people all over the country now casually refere to Rooney as "shrek" and no-one bats an eyelid and everyone knows exactly who everyone else is talking about! :D
