he was immense today, he was the rock that result was built on, van persie hardly got a kick of the ball.
that was martin back to his `player of the season` best.
looking at that game today i think we would have been better off spending the £20m+ on CM`s rather than CB`s.

I know mate - it's a hell of a performance to go out on.

Sometimes you just really need someone to get stuck and do the dirty defending - get it to row z and then regroup. He does that - especially when the defending line drops deep

Superb today but he cant carry the ball from defence and I think this is what will cost him with Rodgers.

Not saying its right just that the manager wants centre backs that can play, even goalies

Skrtel is a rock hard defender who will nut it and smash away but not great on the ball.

IMO Sakho isn't any better with passing and running with the ball than Skrtel. My only ONLY slight note of disagreement with Brendan's tenure has been him ignoring Skrtel - I don't think it was justified.

he played really well today but im not particularly bothered that he is leaving, ive never rated the guy, lets just hope that Sakho is finally the World class defender we have been missing since Hyppia

I really don't know where you guys got the impression that Sakho isn't good on the ball. He's everything that Skrtel is but he's also pretty solid with the ball too. He might not be worth the 15-16 million we paid, especially not considering his contract, but he is a good player and will fit in nicely.

Surprising news at least for me. How many CB's do we have now? I expect Wisdom do go on loan but even without him we have a lot of CB's.

I was thinking, maybe we could play Sakho or Ilory as DM's? Not on regular basis of course, but they might help us when we're under pressure like we were with the mancs and Villa. That Ilory lad could certainly do well as a DM if he's really as fast as they say he is.
