next season could easily turn out similar to this one, just when we looked like we turned a corner half of our team look to be leaving.
if we fail to make CL next season then the same discussions will be taking place regarding sturridge and coutinho. if we continue to carry on the way we are with this gamble approach of signing players then we will always be mid table.
we got lucky with coutinho and at how quickly he settled but everyone seems to think that we can repeat this over and over at a whim. for every coutinho there is several assaidi's and borini's and fenway seem to be happy as long as they never face a loss again similar to carroll.
minimum investment and minimum losses is what they are about now and its this policy that will always see us in transition.
we are the 6th richest club in the world with an annual turnover that runs into hundreds of millions and yet we have no money to buy better quality players  :help
we do have the 5th highest wage bill in the league and we are not getting the value for it i know, but surely the key is to get more out of the squad we have rather than rip the lot up and start again with another 5 yr plan.

Since when have they needed a manager to buy players ? The manager doesn't buy the players at Madrid.

Where am I saying that ?

We are currently far from capable of getting a CL spot and if we lose Suarez the chances disappear totally for a considerable time.

12 points is four games you dolt

Well worked out. Still not said we have a chance next season have I

i dont even think we are the 6th richest club in the prem mate never mind in the world but to be fair that deloitte always have us in the top ten clubs worldwide in terms of turnover so we cant be totally skint. but how all that turnover malarky translates into actual transfer funds i`m not sure.
i agree with your general point though, you do get the sense that we are a club permanently in transition, always 2 or 3 signings away from achieving anything.

that`s just making sure he doesnt burn any bridges incase any deal with madrid doesnt materialise or falls through, after luis has said his family is unhappy in liverpool i cant see him being here in the long term.

I think the manager has a difficult and important job to do this summer and I'm not quite sure he has the experience at the top level to take us to the next level quite yet. Like you said, we have been a club in transition for quite some time now and I think it's time to finally build on what we have rather than make wholesale changes that are unneeded. The squad we had last season was one that is comfortably in the top6 squads in the league. We ARE 2 or 3 signings away from being top4 challengers, given what we have. We dont need to change EVERY SINGLE PLAYER the manager doesn't rate highly; We've seen it at ManUtd with players like Anderson, Evans, Nani..etc who have all been there a long time as squad players and have contributed greatly towards their success primarily through understanding the job they're expected to do when given the chance.

If we decide to sell Suarez, Skrtel, Downing, Coates...etc then it's back to square one. I know the Suarez situation might be forced on him a little bit but more than anything (and especially if we lose our best player), we need continuity at this club.

yes thats was my thinking on it aswell, in truth if he is going to go then go know, we get the money and buy a new striker.
dont with for him to go with 24 hrs of the window open and we are pushed into buying a striker for silly money

Wholesale changes will as you suggest result in us being at the same situation this time next season.

Not sure why there is a high demand for Downing to be replaced when there are far more critical areas to be looked at first

Benny the beaut:

"No I won't be glad because he is our only true top class player - lose him and we will struggle to replace him and get into a CL spot."

So you dont mean that with Suarez we have a chance for a CL spot?
Not forgetting, as I have pointed out to you numerous times, that were not a million miles away from 4th, only 12 points?

I eagerly awaith your bullsh'it, I mean, reply...

Any chance we have currently of getting a CL spot ( slim as it is ) next season would disappear if Suarez goes - without him last season we would have been bottom half of the table.

I pretty sure that should be clear enough for you.

For us to have the slightest chance of CL in the coming years - we need to keep players of the ability of Suarez.

That clear enough for you ?

the teams that finished above us arent going to be standing still you know mate, that 12 points may as well be 120 points if we start trying to catch them on the cheap whilst they shop at harrods.

As well as possibly losing our best player.
