Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

i really dont want him to leave, but if he does we have to take at least 50m for him, no less real madrid seem to get players on the cheap because of their name.
also if we do sell we have to spend the majority of the money on a top class striker, personally we wont get one as good as suarez, but buying a few average men and keeping the money is only going to push us further behind, i can say if he goes i will be very worried how badly we wil fall next season..

finlly thought things were on the up, but suppose not

if Courtinho is anything to go by then we may unearth the next big striking option. If Suarez leaves and we sign a new striker everyone at first will slate the club, BR, FSG and the fuking tea lady for selling Suarez and buying sh!t. then when he turns out to be a goal scoring superstar hero who can't fuking miss the onion bag everyone will w@nking for England again! Just cos we may lose Suarez doesn't mean every new signing is rubbish!

Why do people say in one breath that there is a 40 mill buy out clause but then say we would be stupid to accept less than 50 mill.

IF there is a buy out clause that is most probably what we wil get unless there are 2 clubs that Luis would want to join and they enter a bidding war for him.. not likely to happen.. it would appear Luis want Real Madrid.

:(

Suarez staying at Liverpool

Luis Suarez has no plans to leave Liverpool this summer, his agent has told Sky Sports News.

The striker was quoted as telling a Uruguayan radio station this week that it would be "very difficullt" to turn down Real Madrid, fuelling talk of his impending exit.

Bernabeu president Florentino Perez gave the story further credence when he admitted Suarez, along with Tottenham's Gareth Bale, was on his radar.

But Suarez's agent, Pere Guardiola, has told Sky Sports News' chief news reporter, Bryan Swanson, that the forward remains "happy" at Liverpool and has no plans to leave in this summer's transfer window.

Suarez signed a long-term deal at Anfield last year and scored 30 goals in 44 appearances last season, but was also banned for 10 games for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The 26-year-old, who moved to Merseyside from Ajax in 2011, has previously expressed his frustration at perceived criticism from the English media.

“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”

as i said in the other thread, suarez mentioned his family are unhappy in liverpool and once they throw that one into the hat (like mascherano) it`s only a matter of time.
his agent is probably just making sure that he doesnt burn any bridges before any deal is done.

Things are on the up but in today's game without having sugardaddy money or CL football its nearly always going to be a case of 2 steps forward and 1 step back.

Our owners are trying to get us to the top by increasing the value of players like Suarez, selling them and using the money to sign one or two potential players like Coutinho and repeat the cycle until we are were we want to be.

Its the only way we can attempt to compete without the financial strength.

Unfortunately I have to agree with this - i hope Liverpool are planning a really excellent replacement!  No idea but I would think there could be a couple of players at Real Madrid that might need to move on if Suarez goes there...  Benzema (sp?) anyone?

true, i dont like the thought of that but if it gets us to the top itl do,,, signing and making world class players to sell on is hard to watch, the thought of coutinho gettin better and in 2 years time sellin him doesnt make sense to me as you have to start from scratch again. it would be a long process.

Yep, it doesn't always work out so well.  Its been happening to us over the years now though with Alonso, Mascherano, Torres and now maybe Suarez etc leaving the club.

The only way to really improve will be to increase our success rate in the transfer market with players like Coutinho, Sturridge.

Then when we do get back to top 4 in theory it should become easier to hold onto our players and attract some more players.

he obviously doesnt want to stay, when they bring their families into it they want out.
cant say i blame him, although he`s brought a lot of it upon himself he has taken a hell of a lot of stick since he`s been here, it`s easy to forget how big a story that evra thing was (prime ministers and presidents got involved ffs) and then there`s been all the stuff about diving, biting, cheating etc etc.
even though he has fvcked up you can see why he feels a bit hard done by though, he gets twice the ban john terry got even though terry`s looked a clearer case and he gets 3 times the ban defoe got for biting.
i think his agent was wise to calm the speculation down, real`s main target seems to be bale and bayern seem to be signing lewondoski (sp?) so there is no guarentee that he`ll get the move he wants, but once he`s made it clear that him and his family are that unhappy on merseyside imo it`s only a matter of time before he goes, if not this summer then probably in january.
