He has admitted to being very poor against Stoke which was his last league appearance. That was several weeks ago and he has suggested that he has been working hard to improve. His West Brom performance was possibly worse which is disappointing as some time ago I had reasonably high hopes for John-Jo and it has all gone a bit sh.it shaped. It is not just John-Jo. Sterling looks like a different player compared with a few months ago. Clearly something is going wrong. Is it just the inconsistency of youth or is it lack of motivation or fear of making a mistake?

Lack of experience throughout our whole squad probably doesn't help at all.
Too many young players is not a good thing but seems to be our policy now.

The trouble is Shelvey isn't the best, far from it. And it wouldn't bother me if a player like Suarez missed a chance like that either because you know that he has the ability to go into the next game and tear teams apart - in a hypocritical way good players are afforded the  'a blind eye be turned' because it's not often they f-up, as with Gerrard's penalty last night which really lost us any chance of getting fourth.

That said, Shelvey's miss for England is irrelevant to this club, however, he's also not a player we need  IMO at this moment in time. And if we need cash him and Pepe would be two players this summer I'd like to see funds raised from. I'm not in on this 'he's young and should be given time to become something he will never be'. I also don't believe that our first team squad should be treated as a youth academy where we're dependent on many 'prospects'. I believe out of the youth we do have Shelvey is the one who is IMO the most likely of all to be surplus to requirements.

I actually agree with him. Twitter is full of idiots. Twitter by its nature encourages idiocy and personal attacks due to it's anonymous nature, most would not say face to face what they tweet.

Shelvey deserves criticism but read the tweets he gets and then tell me he deserves the types of abuse he receives.

BTW The Mirror is a rag, second behind the S*n IMO.

Thats not the point, the fact he is receiving it obviously is getting to him.

All footballers should expect criticism, especially when their form is poor, however I have seen some of the grief that Shelvey gets and it is nothing more than personal abuse.

My advice to Shelvey would be: if you're going to continue playing for this club and show those kind of performances, I'd suggest you close your s.hitter account down.

I don't know what kind of abuse is being aimed at him, suffice to say it's not on...but unfortunately it's the technological age we live in now where footballers who sign up to this s.hit will inevitably get dogs abuse. He seems though to have a gob on him the size of Dartford tunnel, whether whinging to the press about not playing or having a go at the keyboard warriors. This kid for his sake needs to turn that Sh*t.ter off, it won't help him mentally and by Christ he needs all the help he can get to prove the huge swath of doubters wrong.

I think we could do with eight to ten mill for him in the Summer I hope Rodgers does to but I have a nagging feeling Rodgers rates this kid. In fact, I think Rodger rates most of our kids due to his own age and the fact it'd be easier to get respect from the young-ens, that's part of the take I believe in when it comes to the purchase of youngsters.

You don't even know if the abuse is coming from LFC supporters, the abuse can be from anyone who just has that type of mentality

Shelvey is still young but seems quite immature to me.

Caught the u21s against romania.

Shelvey was the player who was making the whole england team tick. His cross for robinson's goal was amazing.

It did help that he had henderson and a chelsea player sweeping up behind him.

I do think that shelvey can be an awesome player for us if he had hendserson and lucas  behind him.

You mean Liverpool u21. We had like five players on the pitch. I agree though, Shelvey was immense in that game, everybody was looking to give the ball to him and no wonder since he always looked like a threat when he had the ball.

He played ok - wouldn't call his performance immense. Henderson was the link man throughout the game - his play was more impressive with his maturity and control . Shelvey did set up Robbo but he also gave the ball away a great number of times trying to play impossible balls forward.

Shelvey has flattered to decieve and needs a full season away on loan.

Frankly he isn't good enough and has already had his time to prove himself and been pretty average.

Understand he played in some unbalanced teams earlier on this season, but hasn't looked polished in any shape, way or form. His passing is average, his shooting usually goes into the stands and his tackling at times can be woefully mis-timed. He is also very slow to react when in the box.

Send him out on loan next season to a PREMIER LEAGUE club, see what he can muster with them. If the wake up call he needs doesn't send a rocket up his a**e then sell him off into oblivion. No time for these moping over-rated players anymore, if our club is going to go anywhere we need to start cracking down on mediocrity quick smart.

I would also put Henderson on notice and start writing up "selling" adverts in the newspaper for Borini and Downing.

Dear oh Dear. Shelvey I probably agree with. But Henderson, Can you tell me what he has done so wrong in the last 5-6 months same with Downing. Downings form recently has been great but yet he is still victimised.

Borini still hasnt been given his chance really but he does seem very injury prone.
