JOE ALLEN- Official thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

He's becomming so impotent in midfiel the last few games and BR just won't drop or sub him, its like Kenny last year with Henderson, its the 'I bought him so i will play him no matter how poor he is playing' scenario. the problem is that I reckon in his mind he has to keep Allen in there as without him, none of his signings would be on the pitch.

Yes he has been poor, even worse I expected him to have a bigger impact on games once Lucas was back.

Awful opposition and Joe had very little to do or worry about.

I think he needs to be more aggressive, he's 5ft 5, so naturally people are going to think they can shove him around, he just needs to get stuck in, its worked for Paul Scholes for numerous years.

Been really unimpressed with Joe past few performances, he is kind of like a boy playing against men, if that makes sense

The large fee is concerning me also, because at the moment he looks more like a 5 million pound player rather than 15

Perhaps -if- Sneider comes in he will take Joes role

After a few initial half decent performances he has started to look really wanting. Not a Liverpool player for me. Hope I'm wrong because he's a good lad.

never was a 15mil player in the first place and i doubt he ever will be.
he was better in the second half and loads seem to forget that hendo has an awful habit of going missing also.
saying that though hendo should have started today on merit but it could easily have been the case that he did and failed to show up also. thats what you get from both of these imo, its either hit or miss.
hendo is looking a better player and one who looks like he is putting the effort in both in the gym and the training ground and should be a starter in the next game ahead of allen

played as the most advanced of the three centre mids in the first half and was understandably poor. withdrawn a bit in the second half and was better. still poor all in all though although some of the abuse he was getting on twitter from his own "fans" was out of order.

i thought he did well in the forward role when he came on against sunderland. he looked composed and was unlucky not to score at least twice and when he did net it was a sweet finish only for it to be disallowed through no fault of his.
the strongest part of allens game is his mobility and the ability to nip in and calmly pass the ball into space which he does very well and i would like to see him given another shot at that role in the future as he would offer more than shelvey. he wont work sitting deep with lucas but as i said earlier he is hit and miss and unfortunately today he was a miss.

Allen is a good player, but he is a bit lightweight and needs to put in some gym time. His early performances were good but he's been overplayed and is still a young guy trying settle at a big club.

Criticism here is way over the top. I think he'll have a good second season but I wouldn't be playing him every game this season, especially not in away games where we have to be physically up to it.
