Are we to expect Matin Skrtel to all of a sudden become a smooth on the ball playing CB? There is no reason at all that he should have been on the ball with two players closing down on him so isolated.
This is my only problem with Rodgers' system so far. The full backs press way too high up the pitch when we don't have sustained possesion. It's led to three of the 5 goals we've allowed so far this season.

Sometimes you cannot pass your way out of trouble, you have to just lump it forwards, especially at such a late stage in the game. It's all about making the right decision at the right time and Skrtel under pressure made the wrong decision, it happens. I just hope he learns from it.

Thank you, O Wise One....
...as it happens I think you're right....

If we just kick the ball into row z every time one of our players feels safe making a pass then we'd never actually play football, and I promise you we would get relegated because we'd never actually score any goals.
It was a mistake, one that we knew would happen, and personally I won't blame anybody for it.

even the best players f**k up, alan hansen did the same thing in the 1978 european cup final but phil thompson got back to clear the ball of the line.
i thought in terms of his general defending he was getting somewhere near back to his best.
