Kenny Departs

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I am not entirely convinced Kenny is really enjoying being a manager anymore.

He seemed far more cheerful in the early months of the job, compared with recently when he just seems so resentful and bitter when talking to the media?
Maybe in some ways his old fashioned approach means he isn't cut out for the constant media scrutiny he has to endure.

And from day 1 of his reign most of the Liverpool supporters wanted to see him fail, and rejoiced when he did. His opening game against Arsenal we were 1-0 up, it was only because of Reina that we drew 1-1. But that wasn't Reinas fault, that was Roys. And from then on, he had to battle his own clubs supporters as well as other clubs. He was never given a chance, and the pressure on him was immense. When he won a game, nothing was said, but the supporters, rather than show support and give him the benefit of the doubt, just sat eagerly awaiting our next defeat, or draw, ready to pounce.

Anfield has always had the most electric and passionate supporters, as the most ardent fans are ready to stick by Kenny Dalglish, many of those supporters showed nothing of the qualities which makes the fans great when it came to Roy Hodgson. I said it back then, and I still believe it to this day. The major f*ck up Roy made was replacing Rafa.

Roy never stood a chance.

Roy was wrong for LFC for so many reasons ie  good fren with fergie, negative football. etc
If he was so good, what didnt he stay in a post for more than 2 years?

On a wider note, if the underlined above is true, how the hell is the club going to do any significant business transfer wise between now and the start of the new season !.

The situation has got to be resolved,  back him or sack him, either way the owners need to sort out the uncertainty surrounding our managers future  :veryangry

Good point and needless bad PR again.  Of course you have to assume from that comment that they ARE looking for someone else.

this is getting a bit of a joke now, seems what is coming out is that Kenny was only asked to go over to the U.S to hand over a written report of how the season was....and thats it.
The owners are yet to make their mind up over Kenny and will do so after theyhave read the report.

on Twitter theres strong reports that during the trip Kenny got the hump at the trip and said to the owners "BACK ME OR SACK ME"
not sure if thats true but some are linking that to the BBC.

Liverpool FC manager Kenny Dalglish left in limbo as future unclear following Boston talks

The Reds boss returned home yesterday following a brief trip with first team coach Steve Clarke to Boston on Monday to meet principal owner John W Henry and chairman Tom Werner.

Dalglish delivered his end of season report to FSG’s hierarchy and set out his vision for taking the club forward next term. However, there were no reassurances about his position and having flown back to Merseyside he has now departed on a family holiday.

Club officials refused to comment yesterday on intense speculation that Dalglish had been relieved of his duties following the summit but the ECHO understands no decision has yet been made.

FSG’s wide-ranging review into the 2011/12 campaign is continuing and there will only be an announcement on Dalglish’s future once it has been completed.

Talks with the owners were always scheduled to take place following Sunday’s final game of the season at Swansea City.

However, it was Dalglish who suggested Clarke and himself travelled to America in order to speed up the review process.

Clarke was pictured alongside Henry and Werner at Boston Red Sox’s baseball match against Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park on Monday evening.

Dalglish was absent as he was preparing to fly back to Merseyside. Clarke stayed on longer because he was travelling on to Miami for a family holiday.

Henry and Werner are weighing up their options after a turbulent season at Anfield.

I have been critical of Dalglish but you would have to also say that in many ways
Fenway have not handled Liverpool well since taking over.

It doesnt make things easy when your bosses are Boston based and the only
communication with them is by phone. Fenway need someone of high ranking
in their organisation based here or at least commit to one of either Werner or
Henry spending much more time at Anfield on a rota.

Lets face it, if they where based here we wouldnt need summit meetings and reports
from Dagger as they would be communicating eye to eye and have a true feel for
situation day in day out. Truth is we are a sideline interest to the Red Sox and
nothing more and its causing problems.

Leaving Dalglish and supporters dangling by a thread like this is poor form really
and to be honest I doubt they even understand or realise the media and internet
storm thats going on because of it.

Anyway it needs sorting and fast because clubs move quick to secure signatures
and we need to act now in the market which is impossible until this 'review' is
resolved.

Only to echo what others are saying. We need to sort the future out one way or the other if kenny isn't the man the replace him ASAP so we can sort out the plans for next season.

This sh'it has certainly got people talking
Kerry must be flicking her bean 24/7 that so many are discussing whether KK should stay or go.
Lets just put things into perspective. It is absolutely natural that a manager sit down with the owners at the end of the season and discuss what is happening through the summer and talk about the next seasons campaign. Moyes was in the papers recently saying he would sit down with kenwright. Does that mean he is on the verge of getting sacked? Bullsh'it.
There is a deliberate game being played here to constantly undermine KK by the media. Its as plain as the nose on Phil Thompsons face and only a complete retard cant see it. Of course the owners arent happy. Why should they be? KK should be told in no uncertain terms that it is unacceptable to finish 8th. KK has to take it on the chin because the buck stops with the manager. But he can also point out the positives and give assurances that if there is no improvement by christmas he will step down. All this talk of KK saying "back me or sack me" is unproven and untrue and those who are even commenting on this statement need to get a grip. Unless we see a direct quote it is just another attempt by the cu'nty media to wind people up.
Its a story, for some a great one to see the mighty Liverpool humbled by a poor season (after spending over a 100 million blah blah) and the King of Anfield "clinging on to his job by a thread". How sweet for all our enemies that we are in such a desperate and woeful position...

I'm fed up of your snide marks you odious toad. I have never once called for Kenny's head and if he does leave I'll be deeply saddened by his departure because I don't like seeing any manager leave the position. I felt saddened when Evans, Houllier, Benitez and Hodgson departed. I want all our managers to be successful here, but I will not refuse to criticise a manager because he is our manager, if I feel the criticism is warranted I'll issue it, I don't criticise people for no reason. Kenny's management this season has been poor, however I would be more than happy to see him remain here and try and rectify his mistakes and turn our fortunes around. If Kenny does leave he has my best wishes because I know that he'll have tried his best and that's all I ask of anyone playing or managing our football club. Give 100% always.

i agree its all media generated rubbish.
i hope our owners arent gullible and realise exactly what they are but it is important that they do release a statement and put an end to this speculation.its not doing the club any favours by dragging it on.
it will be a sad day for me if the media is allowed to hound kenny out of a job and an even sadder one if we allow them to install roberto-fucking-martinez.
the owners have been abismal handling our affairs all season and still it seems that they have learned nothing.

The pressure is always huge at Liverpool football club which explains why Kenny has aged 10 years since taking the job on.

"i agree its all media generated rubbish."

the problem is that its coming from the club, someone in the club is feeding all this to the media.
