Player options in summer....who!??

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Adam Johnson isn't on 'big coin' at Man City. I mean he earns more than ya average fella obviously but in man city pay packet standards he isn't on mega money. He'd actually get a pay rise if he came to liverpool. trust me on that.  :;):  The daily mail reported he had a pay rise from 45k to 90k when he renewed his contract. this isn't quite true, he wasn't on 45k and his new contract rise just about doubled it. For instance 37k up to 70k a week.

Adam Johnson is well on his way to suffering that well known affliction called "SWPitis"

Going to a big club playing but parts whilst picking up decent wages and medals along the way without breaking a sweat.

He won't leave City

I agree. Lots of these lads today would sooner stay at a club with
elite players and play a bit part, draw the wages. I dont think they
are arsed playing every week to be honest. If Johnson was he wouldnt
have signed on again and you can bet City will be recruiting more star
names this summer.

I wouldn't pay him more than that

He hasn't played enough to justify a massive transfer fee nor wage packet
All round the fields of Anfield Road

Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing

I would love Adam Johnson to come to Liverpool, but I just cant see it happening.  I hope I am proved wrong.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

I like Johnson, and always wanted him hear, but the longer he spends in the doldrums at city, the more I worry about him -  the fact that playing so little in the last two years may have affected his game somewhat. He's had 25 league starts in two seasons (76 games), nowhere near enough for a man of his skill, but the less you play the less you develop, the less you learn and the less sharp you get. (Especially in your early twentys) - He's also only completed 90 minutes on 3 occasions this year in the league - which is pitiful really.

He would be an improvement on Downing that's for sure, but I'm worried about how his 2 and a half years at City may have affected his development into what could have been one of Englands best wingers.

i think a lot of city fans think johnson plays with his head down, he`s got a bit of ability but often makes the wrong decision on the ball.
i dont think he`s the type of wide player that`ll weigh in with his fair share of goals either.
he`d be an upgrade on downing because i think johnson is a braver player and more willing to take players on but wether he`d dramatically transform us or wether he`s the missing piece of the jigsaw that would make our forward line click i`m not so sure.

I dunno about that, he's always been in with the goals. Even in his limited playing time for city, Johnson's scored 6 league goals this season and 4 in the season before. For Middlesbrough though he hit 11 goals in 25 games before he signed for city in 09/10.

Just as a comparrison, even before Downings poor show this season, Downing's previous record has been 8 goals last season for Villa but before that 3 goals in 09/10 and 2 in the season before that

If we sign those players we have been heavily linked with then I'll be a happy man

1. Rasmus Elm
2. Gaston Ramirez
3. Luuke De Jong

reports in the mirror today suggesting we wont be breaking the bank for signings this summer.
apparently kenny has been told he has to recruit bargain basement and bosmans  .
imo there goes any hopes of a marquee signing and indeed addressing the issues within the squad.

You believe a red top rag report with no quotes or evidence to back up the claim ?

There was me thinking Liverpool fans had a bit more common sense

never said it was gospel benny.
its up to you what you believe and yes there was no quotes from anyone within the club, but as it was an article referring to our club and transfers,so i posted it here.they do quote comoli so obviously thats where they got the story from.
i hope you can forgive me for posting it and i promise to be a better person and obtain some common sense by reading a broadsheet in the future.

Not sure how true but reports that Hamit ALtintop could be available for as little as 2 million. At 29 very experienced at top clubs could he be the guy to sit besides Lucas
