So it looks like Kenny will be staying on at least for another season. I hope he learns from his mistakes in the transfer market. He isn't a bad manager because of those mistakes, but bad managers do not learn from their mistakes. There is also a lot of work to be done in terms of tactics, we often look like we have no gameplan and that's something that needs to be addressed.

just seen on twitter that some sports reporters are saying that Kenny must end up better than Everton to keep his job if he dont win the FA cup.

Thats going to be a big ask thay have two easy games and only the Toons stand in their way.

hate to say it but if we dont win the FA cup it might see us looking for a new manager.
we should give him another year and some cash in the summer to buy players with. I mean we gave Rafa cash after cash to buy players even when we was not winning anything.

I think Kenny's position at the club is not in question....won one cup in the final of another cup....seems to be a successful season...league position not great but theres room for improvement on that front....see you at Wembley Kenny...

Kenny deserves more time alright.  2 Cup finals in his first full season when we haven't played in any finals since 2007 is a big achievement. 
I think these cup runs will do us good in the long term. 

Also we have been very unfortunate this season.  The Lucas injury, Gerrard's fitness, and the Suarez ban as well as hitting the woodwork 30 odd times.

One or two new signings and I think we could be challenging for top 4 again.  If we sack Kenny we'll just be starting all over again.
If we do sack Kenny, what happens if the next manager doesn't deliver top 4?  Do we sack him as well?   What signal would it send out to the world?  That Liverpool are more interested in money than winning trophies?

its sad to see some of our fans still gunning for kenny's head and some suggesting we hire people like martinez or people of similar status within the game.
im beginning to wonder if those fans ever want to see us succeed cos if they do they are going the wrong way about it.
what would martinez,klopp,avb,rodgers or lambert do with the squad we have that kenny can't?.
will we win the league next season?.
will we qualify for the cl?.
will we win the uefa,carling or fa cup in their 1st season?.
will they still be in a job if they dont deliver immediate success?.
being realistic though it has to be the league or cl doesnt it because winning a cup isnt going to keep the vultures from wanting him out.
its funny though that most wouldnt cringe at the thought of pardew? but in all fairness he has done far more than any of the other managers listed.he has brought a team that no one gave any credit to and has them in the top 4.he also seems to be a good man manager and very shrewd in the transfer market.so does those reasons not make him one of the best managers in the league this year?.imo it does and he deserves manager of the year for it but i still wouldnt want him anywhere near our club or any of the others listed because appointing someone like that would be a gamble that wont pay off and give the immediate success we crave and only serve a return to the situation where we are now,lining up the next man .
had we of kept merieles and signed sturridge then our season would have been so much different and for that reason dalglish should be allowed to continue and address the shortcomings in the team.
i can understand fans wanting benitez,mourinho,hiddink or capello as they are proven managers who can attract top players and deliver success but to expect us to become a "have a go club" for any manager  because they got promotion to the prem or indeed avoided relegation is absurd and in no way guarantees a better return on what we have atm.
people should be very careful on what they wish for.

its going to go down to what the owners view as a good year.

That winning trophies is irrelevant?  We only care about finishing top 4.  Might as well play the kids in cup matches cos the fan's won't care about winning a cup anyways?

As much as I loved Rafa, Kenny could win as many trophies in his first full season as Rafa did in 6 years.  (granted Benitez had us challenging in the latter stages of the CL every year and we were constantly qualifying for CL).

Im sure Newcastle would be delighted to swap their season for ours.

Its a results business but this has been an extraordinary season
I would be absolutely gutted to finish below the bitters never mind come 15th, but taking in to account the way weve played for most of the season I am not as downhearted as I would be under other cicumstances. I really have a positive attitude towards next season and basically just want to get this season out of the way.
Wherever we end up it hasnt been for lack of trying

It tells them that we consider the league very important as it is where we can really see if progress is beeing made and its also extremely important for the clubs finances. Most top teams already play a b-team in the carling cup as its not considered important. Last season most of this forum dismissed the europa league as unimportant when we were beaten the "top" team Braga. This season its apparently an amazing accomplishment to be in it. The FA cup still has some status, but success in the domestic cups does not mean we have improved as a team. While we can complain about a lack of "luck" in the league we certainly have had our share of luck in the cups. You also have to look beyond the results, and look at how we for instance handled the Suarez incident. When the sponsors are unhappy with how we do our business you can be damn sure FSG will listen to them.

Its quite obvious that FSG is not happy with how our season has gone. I dont think that they see any reason to sack Kenny before the end of the season but i'll be very surprised if they dont at least consider it at the end of the season. It will probably also depend on who we can get as a replacement. If FSG can get a top quality manager to replace Kenny i doubt he will stay on as manager for the next season.

Just to avoid another "true fan" discussion i'd like to add that this does not mean I think we should get rid of Kenny.

I have never seen a season like it, I know we keep say bad luck and things like that but as someone pointed out on another forum theres no other team that has has so many things happen to them in one year and if it did they would have gone down.

I think the team have looked very good over the last few games just the results dont show it.
Yes at the end of the day the owners will look at the bit of paper with the prem results on it and not be happy but they need to know that this club has been knocked down for the last 6 years and re built  as a Cl club. now we dont have a full set players that know who to win in the prem and Kenny is changing that but its going to take time.

Rafa is a great bloke but as many pointed out that one day we would pay the cost for him just looking at the CL as one day we would not have won the games in the prem to put us there. Rafa was faced with a club that had now idea how to win in the CL but he had a good team in place to work with from the start.
Roy came in and had no idea what he was getting himself into, he was faced with a team that did not know how to win any more. Kenny has tried his best and taken players to the club that are now starting to show what they can do.
I feel next year could be a great year for us under Kenny.

Nice post. The truth is that we were already this bad. Woy couldn't save us. Kenny, for me, IS saving us. As Thommo said, this is an extraordinary season. We need to just let it go and not allow it to change the focus of the bigger picture. There is VAST improvement even if it dosen't currently show on paper. I hope FSG are capable of anaylising the situation well. At the end of the day I support LFC and Kenny is the manager, so he gets my full backing until things change. Others are entitled to their own views, but I so wish they would still back the team whilst having those views.
