Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Work in progress hints at better time ahead but not even the King himself can guarantee that.

We have had the 5 and 10 year plans rammed down our throats for two decades with various people playing the part and where are we now.

Sometimes I wonder if we have become a soft touch with a few words of encouragement and a promise from the right people and we are back on board again.

Frustrates me like  :D

Yes Kerry 81 fkg shots! If it was anybody else we would be accusing them of not being able to hit a horses a.rse with a bang! You even claim that Suarez has had to create most of his own chances. On that I wouldn't altogether disagree but just how many times has he selfishly taken impossible shots on goal that have produced nothing when he could have passed the ball to somebody in a better position. Luis is clearly one of the reasons we have created nearly the highest number of chances in the Premiership. He is also one of the reasons are conversion rate is awful!

you have contradicted yourself. You savage him for missing chances, but then acknowledge that many of the chances he himself creates and that they are impossible shots.

The second part of that sentence is the very reason its wrong to criticise him. The service to him has been atrocious, there are very few easy chances (can think of Meireles putting him clear at Arsenal, and Adam cross to him against QPR). Suarez is having to score wonder goals. As regards "passing the ball to someone"... theres never anyone there to pass to as hes usually isolated upfront with five way back in midfield. Hes a world class player, playing with some distinctly average players. Hes badly missed out on having a fully fit Steven Gerrard providing him with quality service week in week out, the same service Torres routinely benefited from. The five that we have had in midfield for most of this season, if you were an opposing fan, would you be worried about Kuyt, Spearing, Henderson, Adam and Downing?

People complaining that we miss chances, every team misses chances, the difference is the teams above us create more chances (clear chances) than us so get more goals.

Besides our inability to put the ball in the net, I must say our biggest defiency is that we don't have someone who acts as 'the glue' in our midfield. Alonso was "the glue" last time. Didi was "the glue" before him. Gerrard I'm afraid is not "the glue" because that's not his natural role. We need someone who holds the team together and makes everyone tick, if you know what I mean IE "the glue"...

So the question is... Who will be the next "glue"?

I love Kenny, and would love to see us succeed under him, but in my heart of hearts I know he can take us no further forwards  :(  He steadied the ship, but we really, really are very, very poor.

Yep. At 1 point I thought he should just be given more money but tactically I don't think he is up there. Where do we go from here? I don't mean this game, but this season. It just seems like 1 step forward, 1 step back has been the story of our season.

7th wasn't good enough for Benitez and King or no King it shouldn't be good enough now. Kenny came in to steer the ship and he done that but I think we need a change. Something radical like when we got Rafa, get Mourinho.

it's ok...winning the league cup against a championship side will paper over the cracks and make a 7th place finish good enough for some  :no

It's almost as if Kenny filled his time away from managment by playing Football Manager. I'm reluctant to call for him to be replaced, but he really needs to get real, and get real fast! Dropping Carroll today was rediculous. It'll have stopped his momentum and put him back down in the dumps.

This sh*t is happening too often now to ignore.

P.S Capello's available  :D

the team bar Hendo against manyoo in the last 15 min is our strongest team.
if Kenny dont self destruct with his starting lineup,
we can win 4th place.

Can't agree. Today I believe we waved bye-bye to 4th. Everytime we've been given the chance to make some forward movement, we've failed. Again, and again, and again, and again.

I'm all for giving people time, but Kenny isn't a manager with potential. He's been around for a long time. He won't improve. I fear that what we have now is as good as it will get under Kenny.

While Kenny tactics are pretty questionable as well as his starting lineup and subs.. his biggest failure is his signning....

At the end of the day you need players to do your bidding...Hendo ,Carrol ,Downing and Adam are a season no show and no added value...I admit i thought they were all reasonable pickings but the collapse of those four pretty much is leaving us out of CL spot and with multiple impotent displays.
