got it really wrong today and its beginning to look like we play just not to get beat.
its worrying that our players just dont know what to do with the ball unless its sideways or backwards.the movement from other players is so poor.the support is non existent and we just end up with the ball at either johnson or downing in a wide position where we end up boxing ourselves in and passing it back or else they wander inside and give it away.
they do this week in week out and it never works so we become obvious and every team knows it and fancy their chances when they come here and all they have to do is park the bus and watch us waste chance after chance and maybe sneak it on the counter.
the entire teams confidence is shot and kenny needs to dig them out of it or the pressure will begin to build on him.
id no way even suggest gettin rid of him but he needs to get us playing winning football which is what we all expected would happen when he took the job.

but reading some of the post on here i am shock by some of our members saying "Kenny isn't the man to lead us forward"

so i take it we will see "Kenny out thread" threads very soon.

can i point out to them members that we have our best player of the year out and or best striker out, yes we know we need a better 2nd striker and i am sure we will get one very soon.

We had Bellamy (probably our best attacking player this season behind Suarez) and Carroll (a 35mill striker) on the bench today while we started 5 defenders and had 3 more on the bench.

Yes a top class attacking player might help in the future but today it had nothing to do with the personnel and more to do with the manager's mentality, choices and tactics.

I think its ridiculous to be calling for Kenny's head but theres nothing wrong with pointing out the many mistakes we've made this season including those in the transfer market and in some games. If we have any ambition of taking the club to a top4 spot this year with a title challenge coming in the next 3-4 years then we cant keep putting out performances like those and when we do the manager will get criticized for it. Rightly so imo when we put out a team sheet like that when playing at home to a very defensive side.

But this is the problem though, isn't it?

Who signed those players and thought they would be quality?

Who was?

Read the first page of the Andy Carroll thread, you would think we had just been hammered the reaction was so despondent.

Kenny has signed British.. and even 15/20 years ago that would have been enough (Wilcox, Ripley, Sherwood).. but the game is far more advanced, players from all over the world in the league. Its the one other thing that does concern me with Kenny is how out of touch he appears (in terms of transfers). When you spend 70 million you expect the team to be better... but Ngog offers more than Carroll, Maxi offers more than Downing, and Henderson (while still a decent prospect) is way short of what is required right now... Spearing could do as much. So we have spent 70m and not moved an inch forward in three personnel. The worst i have seen us since Hodgson was the first half at home to Blackburn when we were dreadful.. and 5 of the front 6 were Kenny signings.

The money we spent should have gone to La Liga... even average players there are of a higher standard than more expensive british players here.

So you think if we finished 7th this season is ok after the manager being backed more than any manager ever at the club?

Rafa got no backing, made a few mistakes, had the vermin to deal with and got roasted and sacked for finishing 7th once.

Now it is fine after the manager being backing the market like never before...

I :censored: miss Rafa.

He made some :censored: dealings but still had to wheel and deal all the time. He would have had us top of the league with a 100 million.

Putting all sentiment aside, good post. It will be a tough decision to make for the owners should they decide to go down that route in the summer. But something tells me they will give him another year. The issue I have is with our transfer policy this summer. Pretty much all overated English players. I knew it couldn't be cracked in 1 summer tbf.

Rafa won NOTHING in his last 4 years, that's pretty much why some people got fed up. Kenny is having ONE full season right now and we are on the verge of a cup final. The last time we were ever in a final was back in 2007!

ffs.

I remember 4-5 years ago when we were in the semis in the CL calling the league cup a mickey mouse cup and not worth much since all it did was give a europa league place.

But now...
It is the best thing since sliced bread and covers all the blemishes of an abysmal league campaign...

So you would rather take a league cup win every year and finish outside top for for 4 years straight instead of finishing top 4 three out of those 4 years??

Metalhead, the league cup is a micky mouse competition, hence the other potential finalists are in the CHAMPIONSHIP...

It's the LEAGUE we need to progress...and it's the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE we need to get into. I'd sooner have 4th than a cup final against the likes of Crystal Palace.

Yeah too many rose tinted specs regarding Rafa.. he sanctioned some disastrous signings in his last two years: Aquilani (18m), Babel (13m), Keane (21m), Dossena (7m), over 60m wasted, and worst of all alienated Alonso, and chased Gareth "socrates" Barry.

The time was right for him to go, unfortunately we still had statler and waldorf at the helm so his replacement was never going to be adequate.

I don't believe he would, but I do believe that more of his big signings would have had a positive impact on the team.

I am just so dissapointed that so many of Kenny big money signings have failed so utterly. Suarez is a shining light in an otherwise complete darkness.
