if juve arent going to pay the price then he should be brought back, simple as that.
Like someone else has said it would be nice to have some top quality options rather than poor players coming in like Poulsen etc.

Listen mate "Not getting stuck in " was primarily the one reason posters (on this forum especially ) proffered to account for the sole reason he shouldn't be in the team ....not as it should have been his undoubted technical ability on the ball ....
I mean how many excuses (myself included )did we give for that other kunt whose just gone to Chelsea, for his apparent lack of fitness and lack of pace ?
Who is to say Aquilani ....if he had stayed at Liverpool wouldn't have give us that invention we so sorely lacked under the other clown because lets face it we were bereft of any thought in midfield ...maybe an intuitive midfielder would have given us that little bit more ....

I'd say the Aquilani boat has well and truly sailed. It's difficult to see where he'd fit into the current team. For those who advocate his return, how would you accommodate him if he were still with us right now? With the arrival of Suarez, Meireles being used in the hole or on the right should be a rarer occurrence, so that leaves Meireles predominantly in the middle. Meanwhile, Meireles pretty much does everything Aquilani can do but better, in my opinion, so assuming he gets the nod ahead of Aquilani every time when it's a choice between the two, where do you play him? Gerrard and Lucas would both be preferred ahead of Aquilani, and there's no way Aquilani and Meireles playing alongside each other would be viable due to being "too lightweight", so that leaves Aquilani with cameo appearances from the bench. Quite frankly, I'd much rather Shelvey got those opportunities instead.

Aquaman captured the imagination of many (myself included), when he finally got to play for us, but I really don't see where he fits in now, and that's regardless of whether we go for Adam again in the summer again or not. Whether it be with an "Alonso role" or even playing in the hole, there are now 2+ better options than him in both cases. That won't change no matter how well he does in Serie A.

I think its best for all parties to get what we can for him and cut our losses. He belongs in Italy and I've no doubt that's where he wants to be. If we ship him out and a lot of the other 'deadwood', coupled with whatever budget is there, we might just have ourselves a very busy and exciting summer

I dont think Meireles and Aquilani are that similar to be honest..
Meirels originally plays much deeper than he has for Liverpool in recent games. Both for club and country, he's had to play a deeper role that dictated him play short passes that ensured possession was kept for longer periods with him rarely advancing up the pitch as he does for Liverpool nowadays.

Aquilani on the other hand has always been more of an attacking midfielder. Much like Gerrard, he has that bit of urgency that shows in his passing and general style of play. As such, he loses possession more often and is more prone to give away balls in dangerous situations when played deeper than his relative comfort zone.

So while I agree that the team could potentially handle both Meireles AND Aquilani if we continue to play a 5man midfield (big if considering our forwards), that would most likely see Gerrard making way which i simply dont see happening. Another thing to consider in that scenario is that Meireles will most likely have to play a little deeper which means you lose alot of the drive he brings to the attacking play which imo is the main reason why he's played in the position in the first place.

For me, Aquilani would be a great option to have in the squad. As a starter however, I think it would be a real headache for any manager to try to fit him into our current side... Hodgson made a big mistake letting him go as did Benitez by not playing him. I think the club is currently building a side that leaves little room for the return of Aquilani. That said, i'd be pleasantly surprised if i was proven wrong.

This is the position he occupied at Roma along side De Rossi for the most part. Dont believe he will come back but i would welcome him with open arms. 10 million for him is laughable

Was about to post virtually the same til I saw this, Pablo. Would swap Aquilani and Meireles, though. He'd fit comfortably into a 4231 but having just sold someone who didn't want to be here, can't see us keeping hold if he wants to stay in Italy.

hmm I'd be tempted to cut our losses, take the £10m and invest into someone who fits into the team better. I'd rather have a solid box to box beside Lucas, one who can put a good tackle in as well as support the attack, if not then someone whos solid defensively. IMO neither Meireles or Aqua fit the bill. Meireles is best in attack, putting him back next to Lucas will take that away (I think Hodgson's use of him supports that)

Aqua didn't work first time round, I don't think we should invest 10 games next season finding out if he can cut it or not

I'd say I'm tempted to keep him, if he wants to come back. If nothing else he adds depth to the squad, something we severely lack.

Personally i think Kenny would get the most from him... he was woefully underused by Benitez.. he has that ability that no one but Stevie has in the squad; the ability to unlock a defence with a single pass.

He never got the chance to get used to this league and in flashes we saw his class. i would rather have him back here than spend 15 million trying to replace him.

So they took him with a view to buy when they knew they couldnt afford him. Looks like weve been done over here. We may as well of kept the lad here and got him settled rather than have Juve mess him and us about.We only allowed him to move on the loan because they gave us the word they gave an impression they would buy if he impressed but now its looking like more shoddy work at the old board level. Maybe he will be content to give at a go back in Liverpool with it being a new regime and all other than that his agent better make some calls and get him another club lined up.
