He probably will never be known worldwide as this massive player but he'll be very important for us now and in the future imo.

I reckon even when the Lad becomes the new captain of Brazil, and is coveted by some of Europe's top clubs ...we will still be subject to the blinkered's dance of denial

Sadly he'll never be as good as Mascherano or Alonso, it's no surprise he rarely got a look in when they were here, or that he looked substandard in those days when he did play. It remains to be seen whether he'll get a look in for Brazil either when it comes to meaningful games.
He still has lapses of concentration and gives away silly free kicks, although les so these days. His passing range is still not great and his passing accuracy isn't top class either. Never the less he's good for setting a tempo and moving the ball on quickly to keep us ticking over.
But let's not build him up to be something he's not here. Dependable, improved, committed and worth his place in the team at present? Yes. Is he good enough to have a central midfield starting berth in a team hoping to challenge for the top prizes? Not in my opinion, no. He'll be moved on or spend a lot of time on the bench when we get better players in and as far as Brazil goes, I'll be very surprised if he starts games for them in big tournaments. I'll be chuffed if he proves me wrong though, can't fault the lad's attitude after the abuse he's taken since he's been here.
