In what way we maintain an ''ok'', ''average'' team with Lucas? His performance this season speaks for itself, and when you usually have a player who is working his socks off every game and showing improvements then he merits a new contract, its that simple. I really don't need to explain to you his abilities, everyone can see what he does best and he showed some maturity this season that also merits himself to stay on the team sheet. He might not be in the team sheet if we do go out and buy a world beater, but at least we can rely on him when he is needed because he does a very solid job.

ok let's agree to disagree ,in my vision of a future liverpool the Kuyt's and Lucas's of the world have no part. I give them full credit for being hard working commited players but leaving those sentiments behind i think we can find just as commited other players with much more talent ,which can jumpstart our Legacy once again.

I've made my arguments for keeping Kuyt pretty clear, any decision to sell Kuyt would be absolutely fool hardy IMO and it shouldn't even be getting discussed. I can see an argument for Lucas but if you were Man U would you sell Darren Fletcher because IMO Lucas is to us what he is to them, not pretty, but effective

You can argue whether or not he's good enough to be in the starting 11 but I'd sure as hell be happy with him as a squad player

I can live with Kuyt and Lucas as Squad players  :D

just hope FSG have the chequebook out in the summer then  :D

we need some steel in the middle of the park still I reckon, its been missing since Masch done one, wee git
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

He has improved in the last eighteen months but the jury is still out as to how good he can become. All Kenny is saying with this decision is that Lucas is a strong squad player though I wonder what implications this has for Spearing particularly given how well he played at Sunderland.

Im pleased for him. He has taken a hell of a lot of stick from his own supporters and just got on with the job. Like Metalhead said, a handy squad player and if we improve the squad he would be a decent player to bring on or indeed start depending on the type of game we are in. All in all, he wants to be here, he has thick skin and is a grafter. Never hurts to have one of those.

He doesnt stand out. He is not the best passer, hell, he is not even the best tackler. But, like Kuyt, he works his socks off and does so many little things in the match we dont notice, we only notice the things he doesnt do so well. He has been the perfect scapegoat. Nothing special, easy to blame when it all goes wrong.

The advantage is, he is young and will get better.

Deserves his new contract for me. Splits opinion among reds more than any other player, even more so than Kuyt. He's lifted his game over the past 18 months and I guess the question is can he lift it again? The fact we were in for Charlie Adam gives me confidence that while Lucas is valued, Kenny also recognises we need more quality in the middle of the park. Remember what the united fans thought of Darren Fletcher 3-4 years ago? I wonder if Lucas can turn around Red supporters in the same way?

The lad looked very good in that Brazil side the other night. Admittadly he had lots of time on the ball but it was a metronomic passing performance from the young Brazillian and i'd love to see him play that way in a Red shirt.

"He could have gone to many clubs because he is highly rated around Europe, but he always said he wanted to play for Liverpool."

In the years to come when we`re back on top, 2 players (apart from Gerrard, Reina and Carra), Levia and Kuyt will stand out as those who helped get us there.
