couldnt see barca, real madrid, chelsea etc comin in for him with a daft offer though could you? I dont think he's a cog in a premier league winning side, dont think I'll ever change my mind neither.

I didnt think he was that bad yesterday, I was more concerned with the amount of players we had cutting inside at every opportunity, slowing play down and making us very, very narrow at times. I think it was struggle for him to make an impact when he was finding himself with such limited passing options, and the subsequent lack of maintaining possession meant that Wigan continually exposed him with counter attacks, created for them by more offensive Liverpool players giving the ball away cheaply and dropping Lucas in the proverbial sh*te.

Also, why didnt we take Daniel Sturridge in the Torres deal ???

Agreed
Im sure if we had a decent options KK wouldnt pick him.
And as far as KK comparing him to Whelan, he knows he has still got a mountain to climb and has to motivate the players as best he can if he wants them to deliver

as soon as we fail to win a game at home we're rubbish again and suffering from some kind of rafa/roy inflicted malaise. as soon as lucas fails to turn in a man of the match performance he's back at his level and is an average stop gap who wouldn't get a game anywhere else. i bet when some of these posters go outside and its raining they'll swear blind they've never in their lives seen the sun shining.

I think that's a bit over the top.

He didn't have a very good game atall and unlike the grey area circled in your sig, Lucas' game was definately polarised in either the black or white area of which I'll leave you to choose.

Fact is for one reason or other many don't see Lucas as the midfield general as others do or will perhaps ever do, and from watching his game I can't really argue with that.

And conversely when he has a couple of decent games some are claiming hes a midfield general

To be fair most people on here who defend him never say hes gonna be a world beater just a steady eddy who can compliment the more match winning players around him. You rarely get a team that you look at every position and think :censored: me cant get much better then him. All the best teams in the world past present and future have, will have a Lucas type of player. Hes not :censored: hes not a world beater but hes someone who is blossoming into a great little midfielder in his own right.

Simply not the case. We've gone backwards since he has established a first team place.

But he's not even this. If he was a "Steady Eddy", then he wouldn't get half the flak thrown his way that is. His performances are extremely unreliable and more often than not, they don't compliment anything at all.

Put it this way, if the likes of Lucas (and Kuyt for that matter) were playing for some other side, would anybody be saying "I hope we buy him in the Summer" ?

I don't think so.

it's funny...everytime we've lost or draw, lucas will be the scapegoat....how about other player performance? last match most our player not performing...look very dull...when meireles subbed, left only lucas and aurelio to running the midfield. maxi n jova is the guy to link up and forming the attacking threat but both sucks...our full back not bombing forward too much. credit to wigan for stopping kelly n johson going forward and nullified our midfield....

whoever kenny pick i will support it...

in kenny we trust!!!

Yet again ....the much maligned Lucas is ripped apart after his first mediocre performance since Dalglish took up the reins ,and it seems all it takes is one game without the sun on his back... and the usual blurts cant wait to line up and tell us how poor a midfielder they believe him to be ..... fucking shameful .......the Lad ran himself ragged for Brazil, and he was obviously exhausted ,especially after them going down to 10 men ..... give the Boy some leeway..... ...surely after his superb performances he merits some ?

Every team needs a Lucas... unattractive, dull, but very much needed.

A lot of people underestimate what he does for the team, and the small things in his game such as giving away of freekicks are far outweighed by the good things.

At the end of the day he is a LFC player, always gives us 100% so get off his back a bit!

Wasn't his best game that , but it's been a long while since i've said that . They were all knackered from the internationals and it showed .

I think he will always divide opinion and get some fans a bit hot under the colour in debate. Can't deny he's been playing very well in a team that's been playing poorly this season. not his best game yesterday but everyone looked a bit short of where they should be.

I've always felt he is a useful squad player who probably shouldn't be in the side for the really big games if we're serious about going places and i still stand by that for the most part. However, the mancs used to feel that way about Darren Fletcher so opinions are there to be changed and Lucas has certainly stepped it up a gear this season. The question is whether he can keep on improving? He's made some big strides this season and if he can match them going into next year then he may well turn into that next level player we need in the centre of the park.
