Credit it where it's due. I've had my doubts about the fella but he's grown into the job. So far this season he's been one of our most reliable performers, long may it continue :buttrock

Those of us who have defended Lucas from the start have never claimed him to be as good as kaka or gerrard .He is not world class , he is a young man who has grown into his position and he is playing very well indeed . Three managers have now picked him consistantly and the brazil manager to boot . He was a box to box midfielder who is now playing as a holding midfielder and maturing in that roll very nicely indeed . He is integral to the way we play now and is very important to the team .

The lad played out of his skin yesterday and was man of the match for me. He made some great tackles, his workrate was immense and he was VERy composed in the last 5-10 minutes when they were pressing and we needed a calm head.

Read an article on newsnow written by a united fan. Wasn't a bad read plus he had quite a good take on Lucas (see below)

Whilst that may be true, lets just have a deeper look at both their midfields and see where their strengths lie and what areas are in need of some work. Starting with Liverpool, I must admit I’ve never been a big fan of Lucas… I’ve always considered him technically pretty gifted, great engine but I’ve questioned his drive and his personality, did he have the cajones.. to take charge of a game and be positive with his passing. Already under Dalglish, I sense a change in this lads approach to the game, he’s more likely to advance the game with a long range pass or spread the play (imposing himself) rather than play the percentage pass. His defensive game is also becoming more robust with increasing physical maturity, 5 interceptions and 7 tackles… very impressive. As for Meireles, I think he’s an underrated talent, he rarely gives the ball away, is capable of making match-winning contributions as evidenced by his 4 goals/3 assists thus far this season and like Maxi, not afraid now to stick his foot in. Gerrard for me was sloppy today, but his mere presence still energises Liverpool and he still remains Liverpools creative heartbeat, the one who will try to pull something out the locker. I think he’s fading though as a player and if Liverpool still have any cash remaining for the summer and beyond, it’ll be signing a true creative midfielder to replace him which will truely test Kenny’s ability to bring Liverpool up to the level they were once accustomed to.

This season he has been outstanding but you cannot dismiss the criticism he drew in previous seasons.

In previous seasons he looked nervous and overshadowed by the senior players. He looked and played out of his depth. The crowd, rightly, chastised him as he was costing us games.

This season is his game has changed, he makes less mistakes and his passing is far more proactive. He looks comfortable with his position and has won the crowd over.

He deserves all his plaudits.

he's the first name on the team sheet for me at the moment.

the composure he showed in the last 10-15 minutes yesterday was superb.

I am reluctant to say he played well, but I have to. He played well and seems to be improving. I hope he does because he is an honest unassuming and loyal person who loves playing for us.
I just wish hed stop giving the ball away so much and conceding free kicks in dangerous areas. If he did this he could well become a good player and make his mark in LFC history

I think it must have been from about a month ago. The interviewer was asking questions as if Hodgeson was still the manager

Well that is what many that defended him said about him, he is a young player that will improve... give him time. I am glad he had the mental strength to not let the booing affect him.
