Ok so you would pick him before reina then would you, or before Stevie, or Suarez/Carol (when fit), seriously that is just crazy.

He is doing a good job for us at the moment but he's a steady eady, never does anything unexpected or game changing in the way Alonso used to with one of his amazing passes or Mascha with his bone crunching tackles.

I may be the minority but it doesn't mean I'm wrong.  :eyebrow

No, I haven't changed my mind.

I still think Lucas has matured and finally got settled into the game (after 4 years), but I don't think he is the ''heartbeat'' of the team and all that. Gerrard is the ''heartbeat'' of the team, Carragher was.

Plus, I give credit when credit is due. If Lucas can keep that sort of consistency then he would be an excellent player for us, but depends on him and his self confidence to keep it up, time will tell. I can still see some of his flaws in his game that he still had when we signed him and hasn't improved on those areas yet. However, his mental side of the game has improved immensely and that is why we are seeing a more composed and comfortable Lucas.

A fair enough assessment but I don't quite agree with you on all matters. I don't think Gerrard has been our "heartbeat" for some time now. The body language he gives off is still leaning towards the (Torreseque) style moping. Although improved, their was one incident in the first half where I think Kuyt got in his way (on the edge of the box) and instead of continuing his scrapping for the ball he threw a strop. He needs to eradicate this part of the game if he wants to be regarded as well as he used to. It really miffs me off.
As for Lucas, I have always sat on his side of the fence because I could always see his potential which is now flourishing. Under Benitez he passed the ball sideways and this didn't improve under Woy but Kenny knows how good he is and we saw last night (another) man of the match performance. You may disagree but I've seen quite a few lately. Against Chelsea at Anfield he totally bossed midfield. Against the scum we went one down and then Gerrard foolishly got himself sent off. If it hadn't have been for the industrious Lucas continually breaking down their attacks we would have certainly suffered a heavier loss.

If Stevie is still to be considered the heartbeat of this team then its in serious need of resuscitating ...we would have seriously sank to record depths if Lucas had chosen to act in the way Gerrard and Mascherano did in the early part of Rafa's last season ....such acts of petulance from such a respected and heralded hero for me personally tainted his reputation far more than his flirting with Chelsea .... some of his performances were an absolute disgrace and beneath contempt ....Lucas virtually held that midfield on his own mate ....the only player willing to make a  tackle and show heart ....and for me this should never be overlooked and raised the lad to a completely new level on the Kop ................

he's come on a bit (lucas) but 'haven't we waited for it' and even still, it's hardly earth moving stuff.

if only other players showed this sort of committment.

Yeh right ,Even if Liverpool offerd to pay Villarreal they wouldn't take him.

Come on mate show him some respect, regardless of how you rate him the guys a class act with the way hes gone about things. You think after the way certain players have treated the supporters and the club of late you would atleast give the lad a break from slagging him off.

Your clearly very stubborn aswell, how can you not recognise the improved form Lucas has shown over the last year he gets better and better. Hes no longer a weak point in our team. He breaks up countless opposition attacks and his distribution of the ball is excellent, his fast one touch passing is a key factor to how well we have been keeping position of late. Those who say he only passes the ball sideways clearly dont watch teh matches.

Sorry mate but you lack some basic integrity ,if you credit Lucas for our latest improvment you should fault him at the same time for our poor season so far don't you agree? Fans have short memory and often judge players by their last game ,and Yes i would credit Lucas for being better then last season and being better this last days then previous matches but i'm following the lad for a few years now and he is miles aways from convincing me he is a starting Liverpool player.

I would rather watch Lucas prooving me wrong but i can't understand the festivity taking place over the lad by so many fans over here. This isn't serious.
