No, has nothing to do with that, its just certain individuals don't think he is the player that people make him out to be.

LFC2007 just sums up everything really, I would also add to his argument that Carrick is a better footballer than Lucas with his passing range and keeping the ball. Fletcher contributes a lot in attack than Lucas does to.

For me Lucas is a good solid player, he will have his cr@p games, he will have his average ones and he will have his good ones, but he will never be the type of player who will take us to the next level. I hope I'm wrong though

Well it seems its  all about opinions ..my personal opinion is the Lad has been excellent ...whether that has been through his harrying ,jostling opposing midfielders into mistakes ,consistently breaking up the play, his pass completion ...his drive and enthusiasm  ...or on the other side of the coin for the posters that would prefer to dilute his importance to the team ... I believe the phrase "water carrier " has been used in the past  (see what I done there DILUTE ...WATER CARRIER ) anyway  I've watched Lucas at close quarters in what has been a nightmare of a season for the Reds and the Lad has shone more than most ..... but like I say its all about opinions an it seems  some are based solely on the basis of media analysis :D

I'm not saying he is not needed right now. Of course he has played some excellent games for us this year and got the plaudits rightly so.

What I am saying is that he is no better than he was 2 to 3 years ago - he was an average midfielder then, he is an average midfielder now. The team around him has decreased dramatically so of course he is looking better and dare I say more vital to the team at present.

However he shouldn't be.

dont agree there mate, i think as a player he has come on alot.
I agree that it may stand out more due to the lack of quality in the current team but he has improved for me in most aspects of his game and is a decent player.

Yes we could replace him with better but there are lots of other players that need jibbin first.

apparently both villarreal and gremio tried to sign him yesterday before the deadline but lucas' party said that he was committed to liverpool and looking to extend his contract beyond 2012.

if only other players showed this sort of committment.

In this form he is undroppable. Lucas' pass completion rate was 89.2% yesterday, and no one who actually watched the game can say they were all sideways safe passes. His short passing game is outstanding at the moment. Such a change from two seasons back.

Gald someone picked up on his short passing game as this is one thing Lucas excells in keeping things ticking over and with the short pass & move game Kenny wants the team to adopt Lucas fits the bill perfectly at the moment and long term whether that is a first team member or squad member at worst.

i don't know about alonso-esque, but at times last night he was molby-esque. it seemed like that sometimes during the game he decided that the front half of the centre circle was his personally territory and he'd just sit there keeping things ticking over and directing things from one side to the other. there is something about the rythm of his passing which is a joy to watch at times.

Best player on the pitch for me last night.
His passing was incisive and he doesnt give it away anywhere near as much as he has in the past.
He wins almost all of his headers which for someone of his height and build is brilliant,
The lad seems to have grown with the added responsibility placed on his shoulders and gets better with each game.
