It doesn't help when he's played out of position on the left. He should be in the middle, playing just behind the forward.

I agree that is his best position but where does that leave Gerrard??

Possibly on the right or in the middle alongside Meireles.

We are getting to somewhere near a 100% fit squad so it will be interesting to see who plays where.

I hope that Roy's rant about Cole has the same effect as it did with Glen J as he has played well since the public criticism.

logically he should be should be on the right with kuyt dropping to the bench. this won't happen though as gerrard tells the manager where he wants to play not the other way around.

If Gerrard did go out to the right why not play Kuyt up front with Torres. He did a great job up top with Torres vs. Chelsea recently.

With the appointment of Steve Clarke could we see a rejuvenated Joe Cole who produced his best football of his career under both Mourinho and Clarke between 2004 & 2008?.

Does anyone know why Cole wasn't even on the bench against the mancs? I know he's been poor and all but surely there most still be some sort of reason other than that (why have both Shelvey and Poulsen ahead of him for example)?

Anyways I really hope Kenny and the new management can bring Cole up to speed as we desperately need more creativity in our side.

Cheers for that - hadn't heard anything myself and was really wondering about that one.

Ankle knock!

Would like to see what Kenny has planned for Joe. Sitting in the stands Kenny will have seen that Cole is not an out and out wide man. I think he would be best suited playing as part of a 3 (with Gerrard and Meireles) in a 4-2-3-1.

Back to the Rafa tactics but that is how I see it best suited to getting Cole firing which, given the fact he is 90K p/week, Kenny needs to do.

Otherwise we should sell him although Steve Clarke will no doubt be in Kenny's ear telling him to keep Cole.

So has Konchesky yet you wouldn't mind him going on loan back to Fulham now would you :D

That being said I do believe we should hang on to Cole for the remainder of this season at least to see if there's still a player somewhere in there.
