I don't know why Roy doesn't leave now, He could always try his luck with Blackburn again after getting them relegated last time, Mind you they sacked Pieman cos his football was unatractive, God know what they would think about the Woys brand of football.

Cascarino is only stating the obvious. Any red with half a brain knows this is the TRUTH if he stays it's going to get worse, and i am sure the owners know it only to well and have a replacement in mind

The fact that were onpage 410 says it all doesnt it,, Roy says it doesnt matter who takes over, theyl have the same players, well, im sorry, but i think a top class manager cud be doing a hell of alot better,, i look and say, reina, johnson, agger, carrager, konchesky(its forced) kyut right, babel left, gerrard, merelies, cole and torres,, at least its attacking, iim sick of the 2 holding midfielders to be honest, and the safety first approach,, theres no pace in our team, no one can actually beat a man, lnked with carlton coles scare me even more, the konchesky signin backs that,, our manager saying,, we dont play with wingers, brutal, all the best teams have pace wide,, not us,, hes gone off our best footballing centre half because he spoke his mind, hes played merelies right mid, left mid, in the holw, hes came out and said lucas us top drawer, lucas cudnt lace masc left boot on a bad day,, do we keep living in this dream world?? our owners just spent 300 million on 2 baseball players,,, hopefully they can back us to..... but we need a positive manager who trys to win rather than not get beat. Rickard, yes please,, van gal,, yes please,

Tony Cascarino has lambasted Roy Hodgson’s managerial reign at Anfield, suggesting the under-fire Liverpool boss is failing the club’s rich footballing traditions.

The former Republic of Ireland international claims the results under the ex-Fulham manager have not been good enough, but even more alarmingly for the club’s fans, are the manner in which these poor results have been achieved.

Citing the drab 0-0 draw against Utrecht on Wednesday night, the much maligned football pundit believes Hodgson’s tactics are far too similar to those he implemented at Craven Cottage, and criticises him for turning the footballing institution that is Liverpool into a “bigger-budget Fulham”.

Cascarino told the Times: “Any Liverpool manager has a duty to play with a certain style: fluent, attractive, attacking, passing football.

“Roy Hodgson is not only failing with the results, he's failing in his duty to the club's traditions and to the fans, and that's a pretty serious combination. If you haven't got style, you at least need results.

“The goalless draw against Utrecht in the Europa League on Wednesday confirmed that Hodgson's cautious tactics and conservative attitude have permeated the whole squad: because he picked a second-string team and the football was as unambitious and unexciting as it is when the first XI take to the field.

He continued: “Nine away games, one win and six losses is dreadful. That's relegation form, and even if you could argue that Liverpool no longer have a squad good enough for the top four, they ought to be challenging for the top six.

“It's not a new problem for Hodgson. With Fulham his record was: 2008-09, three away league wins; 2009-10, one away league win. It has to be the manager's tactics.

“Hodgson has quickly turned Liverpool into a bigger-budget Fulham: they go out, away from home, not to lose. They should be going out to win.

“Imagine Manchester United or Arsenal playing such dull football, given their reputation and past success.

“It wouldn't be tolerated. Nor should it be at Anfield even if the club isn't the force it once was.

“That's no excuse for failing to entertain and failing to act like the big team Liverpool still are.

He added: “Hodgson remains inflexible, conservative, old-fashioned.”

Tony who?

You don't know who Tony Cascarino is?

Played for Ireland, Chelsea, Villa and a few French sides. I think he played for Celtic too. Anyway, he was a decent centre forward, especially in France.

He was a battering ram, aka a donkey

Typical responses from the usual suspects thommos Perm, you, Lee J, just waiting for Rocky and Kewell to arrive and totally dissmiss the article and have a go at me, why not comment on the article I didnt write it, if you disagree say why, if you agree with it say why.

He did critise Rafa a lot, but the article is about Roy and a few weeks ago he was another up Roys hole, the tide is turning them in the media are starting to regret getting the Hodge the job !!!

Even Prentice a bluenose slates The Hodge in The Echo it must come to something when a bluenose journo is having a go dont you think?

this is what you cannot grasp.
I didnt say i didnt agree with it.

What i said is that if some no mark slagged off Rafa when we struggled the fans went mad.
Now its ok.

That's all i mean.

I do not think Roy is doing a good job, i can admit it looks like he is out of his depth and you called it right from the start.
The fact is though, he is here for now and some no mark like Cascarino criticising him would in the past have got people's backs up.
Sabre looks like a big lezzer

Hi
Usual supect here. How are you hysterical over-reacting lady?

:D

I honestly dont give a sh'it what "big cas" says. And do you know why? Because his opinions on anything dont interest me in the slightest. As an adult I have learned that certain people talk sense and are interesting. Some are fascinating and others are half wits to be ignored. I chooose the people I listen to, watch or read about because I can and because I want to. Its called being a grown up
Cascarinos opinion means as much to me as Loius walshes, andy grays or david beckhams. If he says Roy is fab it means nothing. If he says hes sh'ite it means nothing. Utter meaningless drivel

Liverpool Echo

DANNY MURPHY believes Roy Hodgson will guide Liverpool back into the Champions League this season.

The former Reds midfielder, who returns to Anfield with Fulham today, insists his old boss at Craven Cottage is the right man to restore the club’s fortunes.

Liverpool go into the game in ninth place but Murphy is confident Hodgson’s side will swiftly climb the table.

“If I was a betting man, I would guarantee they are going to finish in the top four,” he said.

“The club is in a bit of a predicament, but you couldn’t ask for a more humble gentleman to deal with that.

“The dilemma for me came when I was getting calls from people at Liverpool asking me about Roy. I knew I could say nothing and they would still probably employ him.

“But I was praising him because that’s what he deserves, being honest and knowing that it would probably help them decide he was the right man.

“I didn’t want to see him go, but football success generally means that people move on.

“The great thing for him was that he got to manage one of the great teams in Europe and Liverpool got one of the best coaches around.”

Murphy, who made 294 appearances for the Reds between 1997 and 2004, says Hodgson will need time to produce a team capable of challenging for the title.

“I hear positive sounds coming out of the club about him. The people up there don’t suffer fools,” he said.

“You will get a more successful Liverpool there this season, but the fans are realistic at the moment about what’s achievable.

“Roy wants to be a success and success for Liverpool is competing with Manchester United and Chelsea.

“He might need a bit longer than one season to do that, but he will bring them closer. I don’t think the fans expect them to win the Premier League this season - they are more realistic than that
“I think some stability, getting back into the Champions League and getting extra money in is what’s needed. Roy will do that. He’s a winner.”

Fulham go into the game without a win in seven games and the skipper admits they are desperate to end that miserable run.

“Of course there will be some hype around the game because of Roy, but I know what he’s like, he’s as professional as any manager I’ve ever worked with and he’ll be concentrating on getting his team together to try and get three points,” he said.

“Like Roy, we’ll purely be concentrating on trying to get some more points on the board from a game against a good Liverpool side who seem to have turned a corner.

“Yes, I have some good memories from my time there, but we need a result at the moment, and that will be the only thing on my mind.

“Other than the one disappointing performance against Manchester City there has been plenty to be positive about so we don’t fear anybody.”

:D ....  “I think some stability, getting back into the Champions League and getting extra money in is what’s needed. Roy will do that. He’s a winner.” ...... apparently he struggles with winning AWAY  though Danny

True. He's an eejit, but in this case he's saying something that's made sense. However, I think Tony should have just kept his mouth shut. He did nothing but give out stick last year and has now done a drastic u-turn in his views. Typical, really. He deserves praise for being honest about it, but he's made himself look like a t*t. Nothing new there, I suppose. That's the media for you.
