I also think he needs a run of games, he just hasn't had that.
Then again you could say the same of many players over the past couple of years.

he favours being more central and also looks alot better in a 4-3-3
I have no doubts at all about his ability, he is a top player. Our system we are employing isnt suited to him at all.

I dont think he fits into a system we can play with the players we got unless we go 4-3-3 with the option of going 4-2-3-1 but no place for him in a 4-4-2 line up .

i agree he doesnt fit 4-4-2 at all.

I have said for ages that i would play 4-3-3 with two of Maxi Cole and Kuyt alongside Torres.
Lucas Meireles and Gerrard in the middle with Stevie further forward than the other two.
It would mean that Johnson and Aurelio would have to provide some width though.

Its a sort of version we played a couple of years ago when we came second - Cole,Maxi, Kuyt and gerrard would be the key players to provide support for torres and Lucas and Merieles to cover the middle - the unfortunate thing is i can never see the manager going for it .

not quite mate.
What we played previously was more of a 5 in midfield as the two wide players actually played wide.
I dont think Cole or Maxi for that matter would flourish in that system either.
Neither are proper wingers and both appear to be able to do more damage when getting the ball in more central areas.

Sorry but at the moment I don't see any positives with Cole, he just doesn't bring anything special to the team.

true but didn't he occassionally play left wing for Chelsea with a bit more flair than he does for us?

no, he played on the left of a 3 in a 4-3-3, totally different position.

In any case even if its not his favourite position he should still be delivering a hell of a lot more, in the same way as Stevie does from any position he plays.

i agree he is better than what he is showing and should be delivering more.
But it would help him if he played in a position that was more suited.
He looks to be short on confidence at the moment though and doesnt deserve a place in the team at this moment in time.

Ciggy I actually agree with you on this and I think the blame is partly with Roy. Both Joe and Nando, in particular althogh it applies to almost the whole team, need a rocket up their :censored: and I just don't think Roy has the authority to deliver it. They are both very talented players but seem uninterested which in Cole's case is a bit surprising considering he came here to revive his faltering career.

The problem with Cole is he plays well in a side playing well. He doesn't look like the sort of player to change a game. Many a time for Chelsea he won a game with a crucial goal but never changed the momentum of a game.

That said he still is miles better and will offer more over the course of a season than the likes of Jovanovic, Kuyt, Babel and Maxi. If he had stayed fit I'm sure we wouldn't of been having this conversation.
