I really don't consider the deal to be that bad when you take into account the benefits of the benayoun deal.

Yossi was on what?, say £60k pw
We got a £5.5M fee for him :)
In return we got a experienced homegrown player of proven quality.
A fully contracted joey cole would've costed what? on the open market, 7, £8M?
Lets not forget yossi was hardly an iron man when it comes to the treatment table :)

All in all i'd say we done an excellent trade with chelski

I really want him to do well and produce for us now though

I'm sure he historically raises his game against spurs (or maybey i'm making that up?), anyway he must be doing it in training if he gets a start over Maxi (has he ever scored a header in his career).

Come on Joey lad
.

Well, not sure I agree.

Look at how much Benayoun actually produced when he was given a chance in his last 2 seasons. 11 goals in his 1st season and 9 in his 2nd season and he wasn't even a regualar. And that is not mentioning his assists.

Cole has been a 1st team starter and so far produced jack all...

It's not like Cole is overshining him in the injury department either...

Considering what Benny offered the last few seasons compared to what Cole has done for us so far (nothing) it looks like chelsea got a great deal.

I agree, although benny could be a bit hit and miss, when he was good he was very good, so far I've only seen miss after miss from Cole. I hope he can turn it around but I have my doubts.

finally also think his mind set should be to get into playing just behind torres & get stevie back in midfield, once he get's back on form that will be a benefit to the side alround.

Its not like it happened overnight though is it? He was not exactly chelseas star player in the last season(s).

It would be a shame if joe cole breaks up one of the best partnerships in the premier league (stevie/torres). Cole has never been a big goalscorer either, but gerrard is.

The problem for cole is probably the same as for the rest of our attacking players, the "tactics". It does not help that we have way to many players that want to play in the same position.

agree to dis-agree then mate. cause i also think that the stevie/torres partnership needs changing, cause most teams have sussed that one out by now -they put 2 players on stevie in a game & it snuffs out his supply to torres in the first place.

also we haven't got the players in midfield atm to compansate for this,so we are being pushed back in midfield as a result, cause stevie has recognised that in recent games & has found himself playing futher deep to try & contain the play, get the ball back & by the time that happens torres is so far up the  pitch on his own any attack on the counter is broken down before it even gets going.

for me i'd like to see cole in that role from now on & stick to it. by putting stevie back in the middle of the midfield he will dictate the play & supply better attacking play with his range of passing, rather than be dragged back from the attack in the first place, cause we aren't strong enough in midfield to hold up play & give stevie the chance to support torres every time we go foward.

i also do like a 4-4-2 formation like we had against west ham,but that is only a good idea at home against teams like west ham etc, away from home i would rather see us play with cole just behind torres, stevie & mierelles in the centre of midfield,if played on a regular basis i'm sure cole would start scoring regular cause he'd be in a role that would give him that chance. also stevie would still score goals so that wouldn't be a concern for me.

it's always a risk though, especially with big bucks.

Personally, i think Walcott is the most over hyped player to ever enter the English game. He's not half as good as some make out and when he loses a yard he'll end up looking even worse.

I have a funny feeling that Cole may become the new Robbie Keane, especially if injuries keep dogging him - not enough starts to get in the groove, continually subbed when he does get a start... Eventually he becomes an experiment that didn't quite work out...

The main difference being that if we do sell him in January, we have cover in all of the positions he can play.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

Jury is still out yet, didn't have too many chances to impose himself.

I would drop Kuyt for poor form and play Joe Cole

feckme seems every player whos not playing well or carnt be ars'ed is being played out of position. EFFORT AND DESIRE has nothing to do with which position you play in so stop using the same stupid excuse.

Indeed next match i think we should use this team.

                          Babel(GK)

Maxi        Torres        N'gog         Kuyt

Reina       Carra       Greek         Skrtel

               Reina       Meireles

Positions dont matter.

I like cole , always have done . He's been unlucky for that he's had injuries and suspensions and torres and gerrard have had injuries who would bring the best out of him imo.

Agree, the jury is still out, can be a very good player, but very unlucky with his suspension and injuries.

He just needs a run in the team with good players around him, he did show some quality against blackburn this season.
