Things actually seemed to have calm down a lot lately - no serious flame wars , no threads being ruined , more football discussion going on , only the odd insult being thrown around by minority .

well that'll always happen.

for what its worth, i think 99% of the 'antis' are not as anti as they make out. Everything got blown out of porportion due to some sticking up for Roy, some sticking up for Rafa. I loved when Rafa was here at first, had some great Liverpool nights.. but we got stale, so i wouldnt want him back. Of course i dont wish him bad where he is now, thats a lot of winding up, mainly due to the pros being blinded as much as the antis, but maybe now we all see its gone too far, so lets get rid of all these pesky cards and get back to supporting the team as a whole

Lets focus on Roy and our own team.

You will be able to say that 3-4 years from now when none of the players he signed are at the club anymore. Then you can say Benitez has nothing to do with the club. Good or bad, Roy is managing a largely Benitez built team.

This thread is serving a good purpose and soaking up all the Benitez comments from other threads.

Have a break from hodgson. After December you can return to the critical analysis :p

Benitez just signed Cassano apparently. I know he's a very talented player and free..BUT a Benitez player? Makes Bellamy look like an angel.

Benitez is still all over this team we have and its Hodgsons job to fix it because its broken. I dont think he feels he can change that much with the pieces hes got there so we have been treading water thus far and its frustrating. Rafa just got bogged down at Liverpool and as time passed found it very difficult to seperate the football from the boardroom wrangles and by the finish he was mentally spent at Anfield. I get the impression he needed time out to re assess his career and take stock of the last few years but he dived right back in with the Inter job but you can understand why he would find that hard to refuse. Unfortunately Inter appear to be suffering from his Liverpool hangover and it looks unlikely he will turn it round and the axe will fall again.

I agree to this up to a point... however it is still my opinion that Roy has inherited a squad of players good enough to finish in the top six. He has however come into the club and in my opinion has gone about things in just the right way to get the team playing the way he wants, and at a good steady pace.

To explain, Roy has brought in a few half decent, if not spectacular players and his biggest signing of all has to be keeping our two best players. The squad is still about the same type of quality we had last year but it has been freshened up a bit.

Benitez will always be loved becauSe of what he achieved here, but towards the end he was stubborn and had too high perceptions of himself. The fans contributed to that through the unwavering support he enjoyed... He thought in the end that he was the sole reason LFC were successful and became pig headed and rigid - we saw naff tactics and bizzarre team selections last season. When he did leave the team had him running through it like a stick of rock, if we dont do a massive rebuilding job it will take months if not years to shake off the shackles of Benitez tactics and play with freedom again.. That is why we are incosistant.

Also too much criticism has been levelled at players like Johnson who is still the best English right back put there, and Poulsen who has only just arrived!

So to get back to the point - no to a return for Rafa, a retrograde step. Give Roy a chance!

I think Rafa would also find that fair.

We've all learnt a lot in the last 12 months, Rafa included.

I wouldnt want the same Rafa back, but a wiser, more flexible and humble Rafa, maybe.

which we all know it won't happen because Rafa is so stubborn, you don't lose your stubbornness in one night  :D

Every manager is stubborn. Also it only seems like stubbornness if you disagree with the decision.
Its a very subjective criticism.
At some point if and when the times right, not sure about now though.
