Konchesky hasnt started very well but is an improvement for me without a doubt.
If Fabio could stay fit he would be the no1 with Konchesky as a back up but Insua coming back doesnt add any strength in depth, just depth without the strength for me.

Completely agree. I would say that going forward Insua carries it better and delivers a better cross, but defensively he's more easily got at than Konchesky. I think if it had been Roy that had signed Insua and his name was Eric, then more people would think about the same.

Mate, it doesn't mean that we shouldn't have went for another left back. Insua was terrible last season, he lacks positional sense, he gets skinned almost every time, he is a liability in the air (because of his small stature) and he has no pace. He wasn't good enough, the manager saw it, alot of the fans saw it, so we went for another left back.

I'm quite happy to acknowledge that we needed a new starting left back and kept insua for back up but that guy was not konchesky - he has done NOTHING for us to show he is better and in fact we have gone backwards with him as he hasn't contributed a thing going forward where as Insua did .

also the lad is far less experienced than konchesky, but as i remember showed a better attitude alround.
like i say mate,i know he isn't the finished artical but is a good squad player & for me he would defo add strength in depth hopefully with his loan spell improving his game.

Totally agree Lad ... Riera was a waste of space who never tracked back to cover the Kid .....

Listen people..... I really don't need any more heated debates evolving ....so forgive me when I ask  which specific areas of his game does Konchesky  excel over Insua ....please don't say he's solid but unspectacular because that would be describing  a player who is a match made in heaven for the likes of fulham not Liverpool
Konchesky for me  ( keeping with the pulling up  Trees  analogy )seems almost  rooted to the spot when opponents pass him with ease
he has had one good game were he stayed consistent for 90 mins  and that was Chelsea ... did Insua hit as many stray passes as our current LB ? no I don't think he did ....
and yes I will accept Insua was inept in the air but is Konchesky that much better because his aerial prowess hasnt really been standout for me ,and what about Insua's assists are we conveniently omitting them from the equation, the same would be equally true about the young lads crosses
No sorry but I don't rate Konchesky and I never have or will for that matter  ....I would  say he was :censored: but that would be seriously undervaluing the many uses of excreta
:D

Will be like getting a new signing. Once he has some better players around him he will come good. Give the lad time. If Maradaonna had faith to pick him I think Roy should. :)

Insua, Aurelio & Konchesky: All are not Liverpool material in honesty, Aurelio because he is simply unreliable to be even considered and the other two are not up to it. We need to be looking for new LB's, Konchesky would pip it for me out of himself and the Argie but that's not saying much.

Of the three Aurelio would be the only one currently good enough if not for his injuries. I still think insua will develop into a good player. He is just not ready to be first choice just yet.
