A little stat for people asking what he brings. Insua was the top assist-making full-back in the PL in Aug-March. What the fk does Konchesky bring?

If we look back a bit we had a young Aurelio, Nichol, Barney, Lindsey - attacking left backs and solid defenders.

So ref Konchesky, does he compare, does he tick the boxes? If not does Insua, does he tick more boxes? If not then lets get someone else in.

I hate the way we have to buy in first teamers... there should be someone pushing up from the reserves.

Agreed...there has to be at least a 17 year old apprentice better than Konchesky...he's poison...

I hope Insua can turn into a decent defender, worthy of the shirt, though his lack of pace may go against him. I know, damn well, that Konchesky should be nowhere near our first team. Still PO'd that Riise got bombed out at 27/28 years old.

Is it asking too much though that a defender can out pace someone like Lennon or other racing snakes? If the lad was a sprinter he wouldnt be a left back.

Point taken, Reg, but he's unlikely to come up against many slow wingers these days. Reading the game can only get you so far. Unless he can find another gear somewhere, I fear he may continue to struggle. Would still have him over PFK.

Insua is having a nightmare for Argentina right now - Nigeria up 4-nil and still plenty of time. He is being exploited time and again.

I agree, well not the overrated part, just not good enough.

He looked like a really good player at first but he couldn't keep it up and was exposed.
