We lost matches last year (our worst year under Rafa) but we were never outplayed as much as we are now. Last year we failed to break teams down, this year we just play cr@p. If Rafa lost the dressing room last year (as some claim) then what can you say about Roy as the players are not playing for him.

It is funny how last year no matter what, some on here only found fault with the manager. This year they only see the positive (as glaringly obvious it is that he is simply not good enough). That is what happens when you paint yourself in a corner. Hide behind "support" all you want folks, but some on here's knowledge of football is shown to be highly questionable. Those that said we had a good team we only needed a new manager to "put an arm around the players" are looking like fools.

Anyone that did not show support to the manager last year has no grounds to talk about support this year as they just look like hypocrits. You wanted Rafa out, well you got your wish, enjoy (so will other teams in the prem)

spot on...

I still cant understand how such an experienced manager cannot set his team up to play correctly.  I know that some of our players are brain dead, but they should at least be able to keep some kind of form out there.  They looked like total amateurs out there for most of the match, it was really embarrassing to watch.  We need a huge overhaul this summer.  I wouldn't mind seeing Klopp here, excellent manager who knows how to set up his team to attack.

Here is an idea for all to think about ,If RH leaves tomorrow morning would we become a better playing team? Think about it go over the names of our squad player and honestly answer if those players can do much better? Do you really think we can contest the 4th place? For me the answer at this stage after watching almost 15 games is plain and simple NO.

So we may disucss and fight over RH ability to manage Liverpool but let's not forget are problems are from being solved if he does leaves. Let's face it we are stuck with a large amount of "potentialy" good players and a lot of failing/Mediocre ones. I can't name more then 3 that i can trust on a daily basis. (Pepe ,Gerrard and Torres) ,can you?

I disagree... The same way i believed we were underachieving last year, i do this year... The players we have arent performing anywhere near their potential and that to a large extent has to do with the manager's failure...

I can name 5 players who would get into most sides: Reina, Johnson, Meireles, Gerrard, Torres... Add the likes of J.Cole, Agger, Kuyt to the mix and its hard to believe that a squad with such talent are performing the way they are...

Over the past 2 years we've let some excellent players out the door.. Hodgson has been guilty of that too.. The likes of Alonso, Mascherano, Riera, Benayoun, Aquilani..etc
I wouldnt want whoever replaces Hodgson to do as expected and overhaul the squad.. Add a few quality players and get rid of some of the obvious dross and we have a squad capable of competing imo..

For the time being, we'll just have to hope that Hodgson improves in the next few weeks... I stated earlier in the season that I'd give him until Christmas.. I still stand by that but at this point I really cant see him changing my mind regarding his ability to do the job long term...

Hi Ace

I think you have just repeated my thought exactly just in other words  :)  ,The players aren't living to their potential and frankly i'm not sure it's only the managers fault. We see all the time players which spent their whole career without making this breakthrough so it doesn't surprise me.

If you take Reina ,Gerrard and Torres which have nothing to prove you will find that the rest are just not good enough for a stable constant performance delivering football team.
-Agger ,great potential i agree ,but chronicly injured.
-Meireless ,again was a great player in portugal ,but we all know the Premierleague is a totally different ball game ,sometimes he shows brillient passing most of the time he is sloppy and loses possesion.
-Johnson ,Again has pace good ball control ,but most game terrible defender and disappears.
-Kuyt ,Hardest Worker but not good enough ball control and pace.
-Cole ,Has yet to show he recovered from his injury ,so far really unnoticable.

All the above are for sure squad players ,but can you trust them day in day out as starting 11....We have no consistent players players which any manager can trust to go to war with. If we add new faces and talents we can intigrate all of them to a good unit. Till then we are stuck in mediocrity and Stoke and Wigan games shouldn't come as a surprise.

This article was printed just as Hodgson was given the job - quite unreal how true a lot of it has turned out .

Roy Hodgson has taken a monumental gamble joining Liverpool, according to senior sources at Fulham.

The 62-year-old, who joined the London club in 2007 and guided them to the Europa League final last season, is even being tipped to fail at Anfield by some players at Craven Cottage.

Others claim that, although Hodgson is widely respected in the game, his brand of management and style of football will have to change radically if he is going to succeed at Liverpool.

“I’m not entirely sure this is the right move for Roy,” claimed one senior player at Fulham. “He’s a lovely bloke and I wish him all the success in the world but I suspect he might have taken on more than he can handle going to Liverpool.

“He loathes confrontation and can’t handle egos and troublesome personalities.

“He certainly bit off more than he could chew with Jimmy Bullard at Fulham, so can you imagine him dealing with players at Liverpool like Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Fernando Torres who have enormous power in and out the dressing room?

“He can also be rigid and inflexible as well. Certain players hit a bad run of form at Fulham but Roy refused to make changes even though their performances on the field were deteriorating.”

Another player said: “Roy likes to surround himself with a certain type of player. Foreign players are less likely to come and smash down the manager’s door complaining about not playing.

“He doesn’t want troublemakers at the club, he wants players who are happy to sit patiently biding their time waiting to play.

“If there are problems he will promise you the world, fail to deliver but leave his coaching staff to deal with the fall-out.

“Personally, I think he has made a big mistake going to Liverpool.

“Steve McClaren is a good example of what can happen when you step out of your comfort zone. Didn’t he lead Middlesbrough to a major European final? Look what happened to him when he left and took over England. It’s a big gamble.”

But it’s Hodgson’s style of play that will have to change if he is to make a real success of his move to Liverpool.

A senior insider at Fulham said: “I think you can get away with a certain style of football at a club like Fulham but that won’t be tolerated at Liverpool.

“Perhaps senior figures at Liverpool and the supporters want a more settled team after the way Rafa Benitez rotated the squad.

“But Roy has a certain way of playing and sticks to it. Perhaps he will adopt a more flexible tactical approach at Liverpool but he certainly showed no sign of doing that at Fulham.

“He also has to contend with a very unstable environment, co-owners at each others throats and very demanding supporters who have been starved of success in recent years.

“At Fulham Roy could manage without pressure but he won’t have the same luxury at Liverpool.

“And I’m not sure how he will deal with Kenny Dalglish, who clearly wanted the job ahead of him.”

And everything in that article is true, and thats why I didnt want him here in the first place.  If he has any self respect he would hold his hands up and resign immediatly before he does any more damage, and long term damage at that where it may take atleast 10 years to recover from !!!

Man the lifeboats women & children first !!!
I see that arm around the shoulder is working a treat :glare:

Last tweet was in response to question on how close to Roy getting sacked.

paul_tomkins
Glen Johnson isn't the only one unhappy. I know for fact that levels of concern are very high. And growing.

paul_Tomkins
have heard from a very good source a long list of players are very unhappy with things.

SiClancy@ The first firework goes off in the Liverpool camp as Glen Johnson slams Hodgson. Players criticising him publically could be the end.

@ErinNYC75  Nail. On. Head as usual Erin. The contract. Carra's increasingly finding himself in a sinking ship and teammates are bailing fast

@JamesSethOwens 100% James. Interesting that Agger and Johnson - the two footballing defenders - have been ostracised by RH.

@Scouser_Les_LFC I don't know the answer to that question Les. Closer than it was 6 days ago.

We have the Dutch right winger playing as a second striker, the Portugese central midfielder playing as a right winger and in the process have moved Gerrard out of his barnstorming best role back into a role 3 managers thought he was a liability in.  What else is there to say???

Roy has got to go!

On Wednesday we scored on a magnificent ball from Gerrard to Torres and then did not look dangerous again until we unshackled Stevie and put him alongside Torres.  Gerrard and Torres have an unbelivable connection on the field, and to break that up to play 2 other international players out of position is absolutely beyond me.  Roy has to go. We have the players to play much better than we are playing, they are just being played out of position.  For any of you Rafa bashers out there, he brought us the magic that is Stevie G and Torres attacking with a seemingly single brain.  Roy still has that at his disposal and has used it for a grand total of 10 minutes this season.  I am beside myself and slipping from anger and frustration to a passionless, empty soul.

They do that to discredit what you say Benny so they can take the moral high ground and sit typing essays about what's right & wrong instead of facinf up to the factthat the longer Roy is here the more damage he will do.

I think thats a really good post there Benny. i totally agree. Your opinions should never put you into a certain group. He gets it good when we win and therefore must take the bad when we dont.

Whats interesting just now, is how Roy is seemingly struggling to harmonise the players! I really thought he'd steady the ship and get us playing some expansive football.

Its really not looking like that just now. The football is awful if im perfectly honest. He does look too stressed already and maybe isnt the guy to go with the money in Jan. This season is a washout already. But, what we must do is get the squad balanced and ready to start fresh next season.

IMHO, i think we must relieve him of his duties and get a manger who is a little better tactically and has no problem with Damien's role within the club. I wouldn't want it if im honest, but maybe the King must return. I'd just hate for image to become tarnished with our supporters if it went wrong.

i am sorry roy gave us hope when we won over chelsea.
but john henry being the best commodities and futures trader, doesnt get to where he is now without practicing the cut-loss strategy.
he will soon cut his losses in hodgson.

Ive been robbin again  :;): But this post by a lad who ill let know ive used it , sums up my feelings on this Weve been left a :censored: team

On the radio on the way home from the match I heard pundits and "fans" alike lining up to use that totally invalid excuse. Not saying it's full of quality, but ffs 7 of yesterdays team played in the 4-1 drubbing of Manu and the massacre of Real Madrid.  Of the other 4 I think it's ackowledged that the Greek was a good buy on a shoestring budget, Konchesky and the Raul are Hodgons buys, so that just leaves Maxi - so it must be him who's making us play so :censored:? No chance it's the manager, it's Rafa's :censored: squad.

i think any 'fan' saying our manager is really fergie in disguise is a bit of a pi$$ take. yeah heres more important things but doesnt mean im gonna sit around and watch the wums take over...

S for Roy, yet again its gone way over the top, Bav is ready to start up a lynchmob whilst others will find any story, related or otherwise to put a bad cloud over the man.

Yeah yesterday was just rubbish, dunno what to say really, doesnt mean we turn into a hate mob
