I don't think MOTD really showed how under the cosh we were in the 2nd half. It was nailbiting stuff for 45 mins....

mate not even a single headline on today's paper have mentioned Lucas having a good game, it was all about Torres' brilliant goals (deserved) and gerrard's energetic display

Lucas was clearly MOM yesterday. I thought there was 2 of him on the pitch at times the amount of ground he covered.
Not only was he everywhere breaking things up but his distrubution was perfect.
Definitely his best display for us i have seen.
Gerrard at the end made a point of going upto him and praising him, liked to see that after all the stick he has had in the past.

no really sure Poulsen has anything to do with Lucas playing well....  :D

Yeah but that's the ONLY compliment Poulsen has ever had from an LFC fan so am sure he would take that  :D

no, seriously. there were a couple of moments when he'd put his foot on the ball, turn and look for the correct attacking pass, pretty much dictating the tempo of a particular passage of play. and a couple of moments when he'd float a nice ball out to the flanks. and then a couple of moments more when he'd find a clever way to make space for himself if he received the ball under pressure. to me - and maybe only to me - it looked very much like the way that alonso used to play from the centre of the park.

.
This truly is an Alonsoesque stat:

Lucas has misplaced eight passes in the last four games. That, in any league and at any level, is phenomenal. Lack of praise deafening.

Footy365 singled him out for praise in their analysis of the match, mate. :nod

I'm really happy for the lad. He has received some harsh treatment at times, not talking about the criticism generally but the booing. To be honest the improvements could be seen as far back as the season before last. I remember that day at OT when we won 4-1 he played a big part that day. He has gone from strength to strength ever since. He has been playing well for his country too so no doubt that is helping his confidence.

Keep it up!

The manager has had half the sh1t aimed at him on this forum and the lad is showing what he is , he is a good midfielder , not :censored: or the worst player to ever wear a LFC shirt . Not a world beater either , but he deserves all the praise in the world at the mo even if it puts the tw@ts who booed him in there places .

I'm not sure I'd consider much of his play alongside Masch particularly eye-catching myself, Bav.  I'm thrilled he's playing well of late, I think he looks a much better player when partnered with Stevie but suggesting he's been quality since the 4-1 win at OT is, well, OTT.  :D

Yeah simple as that really

The transformation of fans opinion  has been amazing, he was a young lad who had just moved half way around the world and when Xabi or Mash couldn't play, was expected to come in do the same job.

He didn't deserve the abuse he got

Wasn't saying he has been quality since but he played well that day, played his part. He hasn't been consistent but the number of games where people have come away saying 'he played well' has been on the up and up since.

He has been steadily improving and deserves some praise.

Read somewhere he won 64% of tackles against Chelsea. Stick that up yer :censored: Optajoe!  :D

Ah, now that I can agree with.  He's turned in some sparkling performances on occasion in the past (he was very good for us in the CL in 2008 as well if memory serves) but he's been more consistently quality of late.  Let's hope he's got a bit of the--dare I say--Darren Fletcher about him: a battler that long looked a little shy of the required standard for a top side but who has come into his own.
