Alas I would have to put this down to Roy's less-adviseable decisions: Aquilani and Riera. Letting go of Benayoun was the right decision because we're getting Joe Cole. Riera is miles better than Jovanovic and he only had problems with Rafa, so Roy could have, theoretically, convinced him to stay. Aquilani was under contract and if we wanted a stronger squad, we would have kept him. It's either Roy's less-adviseable decisions or the then Board forcing him to asset strip.
