I want my team to win and to play with passion, what is it you like to see?

I am never happy if we don't play well......but saying that I do remember the Champions League Final in 2005 and your assessment of the game seems rather vague as if you never saw it or you weren't particularly interested in it so have a limited knowledge...it appears you are only using last season as a front to comment on the last 6 years.....

I did see us win with passion during Benitez's reign, I also watched some drab affairs too....I was very pleased with the the first 70 minutes yesterday, then got a little concerned when the team changed it's formation and we lost the innitiative..but the 3 points were very welcome and hopefully we will build on the positives to begin our ascent to the top...If we win the league from this position Roy will have earned the right to have his face emblazoned on the big banner alongside the other Anfield Greats...we'll see

It's the white stuff that gets left on your doorstep in the morning...put it on cereal, in tea or coffee ...comes from cows but all mammals produce it....also used to make cheese, cream and John delivers it down Kings Road, Caldy

After weeks and weeks of the pure undiluted sh'it thats been said on this forum, will those who have been the loudest now give Hodgson some credit?
I doubt it...

Should we draw a line under the "undiluted shite that we have witnessed on the field as well ?
Remember the turgid soulless performances that have had posters feeling loath to proffer their trust in  our current  manager ...remember the media sound bites which have had us cringing with embarrassment
Surely they are still fresh in the memory mate .... ?
I would seriously hold back the bunting and the balloons with the managers face on  ...until after the Bolton game ....
taking into account his glorious away record
The team did well Yesterday ..the manager ditto  and many who have reservations about his longevity (including me) have said so in the match thread ..... Its way to early to crow Lad

I am not crowing and I certainly dont think that all our troubles are over. Im well aware that some are just waiting for a bad result against Bolton to come back with an almighty "TOLD YOU HE WAS SH'ITE".
I was just asking for some perspective and a modicum of credit where it was due.
We won
Hurrah!

It's very true. We've even had one poster telling us that Roy needs to beat Bolton AND Chelsea otherwise he has to go. Mind you, the same poster said Roy was "fecking sh!t" yesterday, so it's hardly surprising I suppose.

well, i'm not going to start hailing this as the new era of Roy, but it was an improvement, as was the Genoa match.  A victory over Bolton will push us up the table and improve confidence for the Chavski showdown

I tell you what ... for what its worth anyone who believes we don't have to collate valuable points against both teams ....is seriously missing the importance of climbing up that table ....we need results against both sides that much is surely without question ?
Who knows maybe we can even catch Birmingham like we did last season ...... although I don't think they're  in the Prem this season otherwise they would have be mentioned much more often ....... beggars belief it really does :D

I think we need to "collect" valuable points against everyone we can Red, that much is absolutely obvious. To suggest though that the manager MUST win against both Bolton AND  Chelsea is just being silly. You obviously want to align yourself with your fellow Possarian but have had the good sense to temper it to "collect points", even that of course won't be easy.

As for Birmingham, of course we need to catch them. Blackburn is more pressing though right now. If you remember last season we finally finished up 11 points ahead of them after 38 matches, which was no mean effort. We are currently level with them after nine, so obviously we've got to press on. Once we've had hopefully a couple more wins, perhaps even a draw or two, we'll get a good idea of where we are and where we need to be.

As for "mentioning" Birmingham, we had many good discussions about them when we failed to become the first team for over a calendar year to beat them at St Andrews. We got a draw there, but like the 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford it was considered a desperately poor effort by many.

There's time though hopefully to get back in amongst those who we spent much of last season neck and neck with. Birmingham you are quite right turned out to be one of our main rivals, Aston Villa, Everton and the like were tough nuts to crack, sometimes too tough in truth.

Still time though mate. I've no doubt the posse will have many more days to put the boot in, but hopefully the rest of us can have some good days too. That would be nice.
