ROY HODGSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

So I hear this morning that Broughton admitted in an interview that Hodgson had a 28 day release clause in his contract that would be triggered in the event of a change of ownership. I think the clock is ticking, now is the time to get rid without penalties.

Yes the 'Posse' said so and the 'Posse' was proven to be spot on with their assessment of the manager. So the rest of you should fall in line and listen to what the 'Posse' has to say in the future, I'm afraid. After  all, RESISTANCE IS FUTILE! when it comes to the 'Posse'.

The danger when you get a pack mentality, is that all common sense goes out oif the window and people start being a bit silly in a desperate attempt to impress their peers. This is self evident on here at the moment, and some of the comments if taken in isolation are frankly bizarre. Just because you have nailed your flag to the "Roy out" mast (AND I HAVE ALREADY SAID MYSELF I'D CHANGE THE MANAGER AS WELL), it shouldn't mean that you then have to start being utterly ridiculous.

To go away to Napoli last night with THAT team and get a well deserved 0-0 draw was commendable, an excellent result. To pretend otherwise is just off the wall, to actually believe otherwise merely confirms the poster as being utterly clueless. No it wasn't enough to make me feel that we should give Roy five more years, but it was still a good night for the football club. If we beat Blackburn 3-0 on Saturday it won't be enough to change my mind either (simply because the task of uniting the football club is now demonstrably impossible as far as Roy is concerned), but I won't be saying it's an awful result and we didn't play well.

In their desperate desire to be right about something, people are completely losing the plot and as a result the forum is losing its point. We've had Roy criticised this week for having a glass of wine in a hotel bar, because he should be working out ways to win games instead. We're now getting him criticised because he said he'd never resign from Liverpool (quite how people would have reacted if he'd said he might resign "one day" I dread to think).

And as usual, not content with saying they'd like to change the manager, far too many are lining up to put the boot in. He's called all the names under the sun, despised and ridiculed to an extent which I never thought in all my years I'd see from a group of Liverpool fans, mostly fans which are actually FROM Liverpool as well. People were right when they said the yanks ripped the heart out of the club, that much is obvious. There's no heart in this behaviour, no class, and unfortunately no soul either.

Its a very good post that mick.

People are going well OTT in their criticisms of the manager after last nights match.
It was a good result.
Not great to watch but the young lads did well and might have sneaked it.
Like you have said i have realised quickly that Roy needs to go and we have been shocking this season. The position we occupy the results and performances are totally unacceptable.

But we cant then just criticise everything and not have any sense of perspective or balance.
People where predicting we would lose last night and some said we would lose comfortably.
Cant these people then say that last nights result was a decent one ?
Napoli arent Inter Milan or Juve but are not sh!it. It was also on their own patch and seemed quite a hostile atmosphere.
I recall games away at the likes of Lille were we lost last season and Rafa wouldnt have had half of the abuse Roy has got.

Just as an add on - Nanny, you in a previous post have stated that the owners said they would listen to the fans. And then questioned why they arent regarding getting rid of the manager.
Does this mean you think we as fans will now make all key decisions when we are not happy - or is it just this one ?

Last night was a decent result with the team we played out.  I thought we'd get beat but instead we now have some players knocking on the door of the first team/squad.  (Shelvey, Kelly).

And we're doing well in the Europa league with some home games coming up.

It was bound to come eventually.

Tell you what, no blaming Rafa for this. This ones all on Woy.

Bav - it is absolute nonsense - in the same way that Ferguson never got very much of the Ronaldo money he won't get very much of the Rooney money either.A lot of the money will be used to ease their growing debt. United are in financial turmoil as I have stated many times over the last two years. I even posted the accounts which most people either ignored or didn't understand. I seem to remember that even  you defended their business model along with the likes of Lakes suggesting that they were in a much stronger position financially than Liverpool and that they could easily afford to cover the interest repayments without it affecting the strength of the team.

United are on the same downward spiral that Liverpool experienced and if they continue in the same way who knows this time next year Hodgson could be their manager! Let's face it he's managed every other team in Europe! Well nearly!

I know, great isn't it.  :D

On a more serious note anyone else notice Hodgsen referring to the forums as silly websites? That's the 2nd time he has disrespected the fans.

Was he reffering to fan forums or media websites?

Roy is right though, the forums are silly. What do you want? For forums to have votes and these past to the owners and then the fans make the decisions? Utter lunasy. Im like everyone else upset at our start and the direction of our play just now. But, we gotta give him a chance. He looks bemused at times, but these things happen. You either get a fairytale start to management or a poor one. Usually, if you can change a bad situation around, it makes you much stronger.

He will be given funds in jan and summer to right the wrongs of the past. Lets hope he cann pull it off.

YNWA remember it people!!

Kenny wants the job so give it to him. Having read his book and also aware that he isn't hiding the fact he would take the job (quoted at Marina's charity do less than 2 weeks ago) then its clear he wants it.

He has been sitting in the stands as a fan like the rest of us for the past 2 seasons so he will see the serious issues we have on the field, the fact that defensively we are wide open with Konchesky, Skrtel and Kyrgiakos not good enough. The fact that Poulson, Meireles and Lucas aren't anywhere near the quality we need in CM. The fact that we need a 2nd striker to come in and support Torres.

People will have concerns about him not having been on the training ground for years but he could look to bring in someone like Stevie Nicoll who, having been in the US for years, has all his badges up to date and will be well versed in all the modern ways. Not sure if Steve Nicoll would come back to the UK just yet given his kids are settled etc. Just an idea/thought. If not Nicoll then someone of that ilk. Someone who understands the true LFC, its history and LFC in their blood.

Kenny is perhaps the only chance we have of keeping Torres come January and, in my opinion, would be able to attract and convince new top class players to the club.

My only worry about Kenny is would the changing room understand what he is saying with the Glesgae accent

Kenny isn't the answer.

He's been out of management for over a decade and he has proven, time and again, that he cannot take the pressure of the top flight. If Kenny took the job, he would quit within 3 months and leave LFC for good.

don't get me wrong, i think he's a legend and i was heartbroken when he quit in the early 90s...i was also ever hopeful he would come back after stepping down at Blackburn...but that's in the past. Kenny is not what we need right now.

Agree with you first comment Mick, but more worryingly we cant get used to 'fan power'. Clubs have already lost control to 'player power' so to now start bowing to fan pressure would be disasterous. Clubs have to regain control of their businesses.

I agree last nights result was very credible considering the weak team played, I think its more a case of ignore the quality of play and be thankful for the result.

Concerning comments made on this forum, you have no right whatsoever to judge, your own anti-Rafa comments last season with your mate S@int were a disgrace so think it best you hold your tongue on this one. Its not that Rafa went, but your relentlessly obsecessive campaign against him. Sorry pal but what was good 6 months ago cant suddenly now be the work of the devil can it? Or was it?

Reg, i think despite both of them (saint & mick) wanting a change of manager. They still posted reasons and were not abusive towards him.
Cant see what your problem is.
I know there were times when we got good results and both posters would have offered praise.

There is a huge difference to what fans have been like this season with Roy.
Its been out of order and embarrasing tbh,.
