This is what owners always say...They can't afford to sound like a holes for obvious reasons. But i'll tell you, when push comes to shove and when December comes and we're still in the relegation zone or very close to it, Roy will be leaving on "mutual consent"...

The Liverpool manager, Roy Hodgson, was pleased with his players despite another disappointing result at Goodison Park, where they lost this afternoon's Merseyside derby 2-0 to Everton.

He said: "The dream was we would come here on the back of new owners [New England Sports Ventures] and win the game but there is no point in attempting to analyse dreams. This would have been the ideal opportunity to turn things around on the back of the positive entry of the new owners and to get a result here would have been Utopia.

"We fell behind to a deflected block which fell kindly for [Tim] Cahill so I thought at half-time we were a bit unlucky to be a goal down because we had got back into the game well. In the second half we did everything the team could possibly do, we played well, created chances, we limited them to very few and put them on the back foot."

Mikel Arteta scored Everton's second goal after 50 minutes.

Hodgson said that Liverpool's star striker, the Spaniard Fernando Torres, was low on confidence.

He said: "I don't think he is physically unfit, I think he showed that today. He did plenty of work and we don't have any injury problems with him. He got battered during the World Cup and mentally he is probably a bit low and he needs a goal or two to get it back. Certainly today I would have no qualms about his performance."

Liverpool are in the Premier League relegation zone with one win in eight games but Hodgson is refusing to panic.

"I don't think it is a crisis. I thought the way we played today was not the level of a team in the bottom three but six points from eight games is a very poor return," he said. "We need to start winning to climb the table and until we do the word 'crisis' will continue to be bandied around."

Asked if his side had been outplayed by Everton, Hodgson said: "That's very unfair. We suffered at the hands of an early onslaught which you invariably do at Goodison but towards the end of the first half we started to even things out.

"From what I saw I thought we dominated the second half totally. I thought the shape of the team was good today, the quality of our passing and movement was good. We didn't score goals and Everton did but I refuse to accept that we were in any way outplayed or any way inferior.

"I watched the performance and the second half was as good as I saw a Liverpool team play under my management, that is for sure."

Liverpool have endured their worst start to a season since 1953, when they were relegated. They are 19th in the table.

Asked if the top four was out of reach, Hodgson said: "There are 30 games to go, 90 points to play for, so we'd have to start doing something special, I suppose. But I don't know I would write that off necessarily.

"What it would take is a really good run on the spin but I thought there were signs in the game today that the quality of football was there. Who knows, we could get those four or five wins on the spin – that is what it is going to take."

The Everton manager, David Moyes, was delighted with the win. "Their attitude was spot on and they got their reward," he said. "I thought we have played better in the majority of games than we did today but it was a derby and a different kind of game.

"Some of our performances [earlier in the season] were good but we did not get the result but today we did enough. We are getting away from the wrong end of the table. We are a good enough team to be at the top end."

Completely disconnected from reality.
Reina wants out. Agger doesn't want to play his brand of "football". Torres disillusioned.

Roy- Just go now. You are not the man you think you are.

to be honest, his smile at the end of the game was even worse and spoke more volumes than these ludicrous comments for me.

A good football man is hodgson. But, I'm man enough to admit, not upto the magnitude of Liverpool Fc. Why he hasnt brought own back team with him? I don't know. However, his tactics are stifling the team. Agger must play. Kelly must also be in. Push Johnson further forward and get shelvey into this team. It needs legs badly. Cole must dovetail with gerrard in assisting Torres. I think young spearing would be a better choice than poulsrn or Lucas.

Big changes in Jan although hard. Cahill hangelaand turan nzogbia guiza would be a nice start. Maybe even forlan or dare I say it make a statement with Rooney?

I've been supportive of Roy since the start, I said earlier that it would be at least 10 premiership games till we saw some good flowing football, but even I am starting to worry.

My problem is we haven't really improved since the first game.  I don't expect us to be playing superb football, but I do expect improvement game on game.

I don't think they will get rid of him, the new owners will want to give him time or they may be labelled as being a touch rash.  Also who would replace him?  The only viable opyions are Kenny and MON.

Roy was my 3rd choice after those 2 anyway, but I don't think it will happen
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

It's linked to the rumour that Woy is looking to sign a Danish keeper.

We are stuck with Roy now and I DON'T WANT O'NEILL!

Let's face it Rafa wanted to go and successfully negotiated his departure which in footballing terms is called the sack! Rafa also knew that he had failed with Alonso and Mascherano so what was he going to do without them. He also knew that the near £20m spent on Aquilani was looking like a disaster as Aquilani wanted away from the Anfield problems and the ferocity of the Premiership.

get  your facts right...

Rafa was preparing for the next season, he wasn't negotiating to go, he said so himself. That was the reason he tight up the Shelvey, Wilson and Jovanovic deals.

Lets analyse the problem.

Is it the players dont respect the man, or his tactics are wrong, or the team selection is wrong or simply the players cant be arsed?

If its tactics and team selection - thats repairable.  Those responsible to sort it out: RH, Sammy Lee and Stevie Gerrard.
If its lack of respect, then RH and SG need to have a sit down to air the issues of the team and find a way forward.
If the players cant be arsed then RH, Sammy and Stevie need to thrash it out.

Carra always talks of his own management potential however if he's serious (and I dont think he has the exposure to sufficient styles of football to be a success myself) then this is his opportunity to motivate and lead the lads forward. But not by just shouting, which appears to be his prefered manner.

We should not just focus on Woy, this is a complete failure - RH, Sammy, the captain and those other leadership players like Carra.

They are all being let down by the sulkers and 'cant be arseds' who dont recognise that they have to stand up and be counted.

19th place is not good enough.
