I just hate being in the position where I know in my head and heart that Hodgson is not up to the job. So even if things improve (surely they have to?) I know he is not the man to take us forward. Am gutted coz the last thing this club needs is more turmoil and upheaval but that's where we're at. :(

The easiest thing in the world to do is to castigate somebody before a ball was even kicked based on what they achieved in the past and then effectively and somewhat glibly say I told you so! Roy Hodgson is not the only problem at Liverpool FC as you well know and whilst I am far from ecstatic about what he has achieved so far I am prepared to give him some more time to prove himself. Rafa who you supported to the death won nothing in four years with a far better team and resources so it would have been ridiculous to expect miracles immediately.

Give him more time? Seriously what for? To get us relegated that grin at the end tell you all you need to know that he doesnt get this club and should leave immediatly hes a feckin embarressment.  And is making ashow of us.

Rafa may not have won anything in the past 4 years but whats this fella won in 36 years? Feck all 22 games beaten away from home with liverpool & Fulham.

All Hodgson has had to endure since he arrived at Liverpool is a catalogue of problems that no manager however good or otherwise could simply overcome in a relatively short space of time. Let's face it took a lot of diehard Rafa supporters a long time to appreciate that Benitez was not the answer. Hodgson has now got to rebuild a team created by Benitez that lacked any strength in depth and now has only one or two players that any top european team would be interested in. Benitez's record in the transfer market was poor to say the very least and that is something that any new manager would have to sort out.

I fully appreciate and have from day one that Roy Hodgson is not the ideal choice but to be frank he is not the only current embarrassment at Liverpool. Key players spitting the dummy who earn over £120k a week could also be given a well deserved kick up the ar.se. This mess is not going to be rectified overnight. We have only just sorted out the ownership and debt problems that took several years. All I am saying is give Hodgson longer than five minutes.

And Ciggy as you have all the answers just who would you replace Hodgson with and ffs don't say Dalglish! I am one of Kenny's biggest fans but he has been out of management for more than a decade and let's face it he deserves to retire from management in peace after what he went through.

During all my 24 years as a Liverpool fan, I’ve never seen a Liverpool team playing as bad as the one under Hodgson. Granted, the Souness-era was a terrible period but the team was made up of horrendously average players that still made me cringed today. Today we have the likes of Torres, Gerrard, Cole, Meireles, Johnson, Reina, Agger, Kuyt and a handful of promising young talents, yet we just keep on losing every single match! My point is this – we have the players but we do not have the right tactic and right motivation to make them succeed as a team.

Many may point the fingers at the players for lack of motivation but who is the one responsible for motivating them? A manager has the authority to choose his players; if any of them refuses to be motivated, jolly well have the guts to drop them! Be it Gerrard, Torres or whoever the hell! And when things go wrong on the field, stop stroking your damn chin and work something out!!! Watching the way we play at the moment makes me wanna cry cos we’re playing the same way as Fulham! We’re sitting very deep and inviting the opposition to attack us at will! And when we have the ball what do we do? Whack it hard towards Torres – oh wait, that’s not Agger doing the passing, that’s “hoof-the-ball” Carra doing the job. Where’s Agger? Oh, Hodgson has decided that Skrtel, Soto and Carra are better defenders than him and moreover he’s more of a leftback – and a 2nd choice behind Konchesky. ATROCIOUS!!!

I see the media blaming Torres and I blame Hodgson for that cos he’s trying to deflect the attention away from himself and towards Torres. I dun blame Torres at all. It’s obvious there wasn’t any decent service from midfield especially when Gerrard and Cole were so far away from him. As a result, he gotto feed on scraps and ended up looking bad. When we’ve got 2 of the best English attacking midfielders behind the best striker in the world and yet can’t produce any consistent stream of goalscoring chances, you know something must be wrong. There is no pattern in our attacking build-up play and Torres is isolated up front. If this has nothing to do with Hodgson’s inept tactic, I dunno what it is.

So whichever way I see it, all fingers are to be pointed at Hodgson – fingers of blame! He’s a born loser with loser tactics and loser mentality. He hasn’t got a clue what Liverpool is about; he is deluded and he deserves to be sacked! *Dun even bring up the smiling episode after the derby match – that was a disgrace and insult of infinite proportions!!!*

On a sidenote, I wonder how’s the current relationship between Torres and Gerrard. I dunno what it is but something seems to be amiss between them.  I worry there is a division between English and non-English players. Hope not cos that would be a bigger problem to resolve. And I hope we do not see the ugly player power drama unfolding. I really worry that players like Carra and Gerrard hold too much influence that will create different camps in the team. This is one of the problems prior to Rafa’s arrival – here’s hoping my worry is unfounded.

Chippy and defensive after the game, he ended his press conference in a sharp exchange with a journalist from Scandinavia who questioned the lack of supply to Torres.
'Are you from Denmark?' Hodgson asked (he considers the Danish press too negative).
'No, Norway,' replied the visitor. 'Ah, two countries I never want to work in again,' he said.
There was a rather obvious retort but the room was too polite to go there. For now, anyway

I agree, and that is why i cannot comprehend Hodgson's post match comments.

“I can’t ask more of the players,” Hodgson said.

“I thought their work-rate was outstanding, our passing was very good and our movement was good.

“I didn’t see a lack of confidence. In my opinion it’s arguably the best game we’ve played since I’ve become the manager of the club. Our performance today was a good one.

“I refuse to sit here and accept we were in any way outplayed or in any way inferior.

“I hope that fair-minded people see the game the same way. I think it’s a bit unfortunate that after such a good game of football everything revolves around the fact that Liverpool didn’t win it.”

I realise there is a fair amount of spin involved in those interviews, but this is just over the top imho.

From TLW

I think it is fair to say the vast majority of fans want Hodgson out....considering we are regarded as being one of the most fair-minded, patient and reasonable rational bunch of football fans you will ever find, then it is quite a staggering achievement by Roy to basically lose 90%* of us within a couple of months and around 20 games in total

(*conservative estimate based on various internet forums, radio phone-ins, newspapers, talking to random fans.......on the other hand Roy has an unusually high percentage of media men fighting his case, considering their usual instinct is to lead the angry mob and start the feeding frenzy this is highly unusual)

We have not become a kneejerk Newcastlelike mob overnight, we are not so thick to think that changing a manager means all will be bliss but the fact is that in every facet of his management Roy has been an abysmal and diabolical failure.

Most of us were underwhelmed by his appointment in the first place, others were still smarting from Rafa's departure, but after the signing of Cole and the promise of a fresh start I think we decided to give the guy a fair go.

But how shall we judge a manager?

his signings? - konchesky, poulsen and jones...none of us wanted these guys when we were linked with them, we all warned against these signings, but having been signed we pledged to support them, we hoped we were wrong, we hoped Roy was right....he wasn't

tactics? - many people didn't like rafa's cautious and highly tactical chesslike approach.....Roy makes Rafa's tactics seem like Kevin Keegan mid 90's Newcastle or Ossie Ardiles Spurs 5 man attack...basically we have a 10 man protective corden, no width and boot it up to Torres to battle for it amongst 4 defenders, it is the opposite of total football, 35 years in football and Roy has come up with the wonderous footballing philosophy that is "zero football", no wonder he got the lma award, the guy is a pioneer

media? - jesus, I think he thinks he is the articulate voice of modern football, he thinks because he has read a few phillip roth and j.m coetzee novels that it gives him the right to spout absolute garbage at every opportunity...he fanices himself as an intellectual among cliche-ridden football men, but the truth is he sounds like the embarrassing drunken uncle at the wedding. He also seems to think he is managing a midtable nothing team and not the most successful club in English footballing history, he fails to defend our players or accept responsibility for the worst sequence of results in 50 years, he is nice and pally with mediamen and rival managers so the picture painted is of a good man wronged, but secretly Roy these chums of yours are laughing as you seek to complete their secret agenda of taking down the most magnificent footballing institution this country has ever seen. Oh and of course let's constantly remind everybody that the man who hasn't won away in a year and a half and whose last trophy was the Swedish reindeer antlers sponspored friendship charity cup is one of the most well-respected, well-spoken, well-loved (Did I mention I won the LMA award) managers the world has ever seen

performances? Terrible, worst I've ever seen....not in one of the 20 games you've been in charge of have I actually thought after the game, yeah we played well there...I am bored watching the team I love now.....I don't expect goals or even chances from the team I love now.....I don't expect football from the team I love now, and even after saying all that the very least I expect is some fight, some passion and some organisation and you have failed to even provide that too. We have some of the best players in the world, almost every player in our squad is an international and yet we lose to Northampton and Blackpool at Anfield and are 19th in the table....yet you talk as if everything is just fine and dandy...yet another thing you lack is dignity.

The truth is the guy is not a Liverpool manager and most of the fans want him out but the most important question is will the board act?

Noises from NESV yesterday were that they would support him, but that is almost standard noise from new owners.

Purslow looks like he is being retained, NESV will no doubt refer to him about the merits or otherwise of keeping Roy on. Purslow has earned himself some credit with the demise of H&G but will he stubbornly stand by his appointment as we lurch from one embarrassing defeat to another or will he admit he got it wrong and let Roy move on to a club that is more suited to his style of management?

How much more can we take? How cut-throat are the owners? How much will they take into account the ever-increasing levels of fan discontent with Roy's tenure here?

What about the rumours that NESV are meeting with Roy tomorrow? Will that just be a formality, discussing future plans with guy and deciding how much money they want to give to a guy who spunked 12 million on Jones, Konchesky and Poulsen? Or perhaps they'll take a firm line with the guy, give him a date by which performances must improve?

My guess is he will get until Christmas and if by then we are not at least in mid-table then Kenny will take over as caretaker until we can secure a really big and available name.

I know almost all of us want him gone now but I fear he'll be given until Christmas. I hope he proves me wrong but I don't think he will. One final possibility is that he will resign but that would entail a gesture of dignity and integrity that so far he has failed to provide evidence he is capable of.

I watched the match in a pub in the West Midlands. My daughter was moving out of her flat so we had to go down to help.
Most of the locals were Birmingham , Wolves or Villa fans. It was  embarrassing to say the least !!!
They were laughing at our supposed Internationals miss hitting shots and miss placing passes .
The consensus of opinion was that we'll go down if we stick with Roy .

I saw nothing to suggest that they were wrong.  :(

The performances and results have been poor, but its still too early... A couple more bad results in the next 3 or so games would put us under a lot of pressure and would probably see the manager sacked, and rightly so...

HOWEVER, the performance against Everton was a much improved one and could be a sign of things to come... Hopefully by now Hodgson realizes that Lucas-Poulsen-Maxi are always going to struggle to provide anything positive whatsoever... If he can learn from his many mistakes so far this season and start to pick a more balanced side capable of controlling games and scoring goals then we might actually improve sooner than many think...

I've over-reacted yesterday and thought there was no way up under Hodgson... but im still backing him up for now...

Get Gerrard and Meireles in the middle with Cole higher up as a second striker and Kuyt and Jova down the flanks and we might be on to something... Our backline however still needs a lot of work... Wouldnt take any of the fullbacks/defenders we have and Reina is probably the only one in the back 5 performing anywhere near the level expected for a club like ours...

Emotions are high and nerves are raw. As it should be. We are in sh'it street. No question
Just a few things to say regatding the current situation
Firstly getting beat yesterday by our bitter enemies. To me theyre just bitter. I class them on par to Blackpool, Blackurn, Bolton, whoever. Yes we will get stick. Yes we will be embarrassed. And Yes we will feel sick that they are taking the pi'ss. But bear this in mind. They are sh'ite. They play in a ground with obscured views and wooden seat. They have a wa'nker in charge who wanted to drag them to Kirkby because he was so incompetent. Fu'ck them and let them have their day. We will still finish above them.
Secondly, I have rarely seen a manager who is under pressure because his team are in the relegation zone come out and say "were sh'it and we deserve to be here" Seriously, all those going on about Roys post match interviews should get a grip. What he fu'ck do you want him to say? He has got to make light of it because, heaven forbid the di'ckhead players should get wind that hes worried, it might stop them playing well. Give it a Fu*king rest
Thirdly, people have to stop going on about Benitez. Whether he is partly responsible for the situation were in (I say yes) or whether some think he should still be here (I say no) is now irrelevant. This is Roys team and his responsibility and he has to turn it round soon otherwise he will be sacked. No doubt about it.
On a positive note I thought we played ok in parts and we battered them in the second half. But obviously we didnt put it in the net. It will get better, because it cant get any worse

The suggestion I am going to make, may not be the 'Liverpool Way', but neither is it the Liverpool way being stranded in the bottom three of the English Premiership (in October!!!).

Most of the Liverpool support (including myself) seem to agree that Hodgson is out of his depth, portrays a poor image to the media and seems unable to inspire the team, either through bad management, dreadful tactics or a combination of the two.

If NESV don't act today and sack Hodgson (which seems unlikely) then I believe that the fans who attend Anfield on a regular basis need to make it abundantly clear that Hodgson's time is up. Hundreds of brilliant anti Hicks/Gillett banners were created and what we now need is anti Hodgson banners. If hundreds of these banners are displayed at the next home match along with Hodgson out chanting, then I believe the board will have to act!!

We cannot risk him staying till Christmas. If we do we will be relegated at worst and end up mid table at best. If we manage to attract a dynamic manager who plays attacking, exciting football to Anfield within the next couple of weeks then I believe we may still make the holy grail of the top four.

Hodgson is just so difficult to like. He may be a man under immense pressure, but why was he smiling only ten seconds after the final whistle yesterday? Why does he talk rubbish to the press. if he thought we played well against Everton...the man is clearly deluded.

Hodgson is a drowing man...let's hope NESV throw him a line, thank him for his efforts and send him on his way.

ours...

A much improved performance against Everton? Really?
We were dominated by a weak Everton side with lots of injuries. They even let us play a bit with the ball in the final 20 minutes but we did not manage to do anything with it.

Its not that the team cant control the game, we dont even try to control the game. We sit back and wait in our revolutionary 9-0-1 formation.
