ROY HODGSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Genuinely concerned i am.
The results are obviously a major concern but its the tactics that are worrying me most.

We play the same formation as we did under Rafa but dont press the ball at all and sit far too deep.
The gap between the midfield and Torres is massive and whenever the ball comes to him he is expected to hold it up when there isnt anyone that can support him anyway.

Roy might be happy with how the game looked in the second half as we were for the majority of it in their half and had the lions share of the posession.
That's because they allowed us to as they were 2-0 up and knew that we wouldnt break them down.
I didnt for one minute think that we would come back once the second went in.

Like Scott has said the people who have stated from the start that Roy wouldnt be good enough appear to be right and ridiculous as it sounds to say this so early into a managers tenure but it looks like the writing is on the wall for Roy already.

it's kinda :censored: feeling when others around you saying how :censored: the Reds are. seriously, i do think they played pretty well against Everton. i just have no idea why we just can't win. was it just RH's fault or the whole team? maybe. but i just can't feel the team's desire to win.

if i hear any other bellen say "he's inherited a poor squad" and try to dress that up as a reason for this seasons debacle i'm gonna scream. even last season when we had really poor runs of form you could still see us putting in a performance to turn it around. we were awful in the lead up to the united game at home and yet we played them off the park. same in the two derby matches. hell we got knocked out of the cup by reading and a week later we wiped the floor with spurs aswell. this season you just can't see where a result is coming from.

as for hodgson, if he thinks we played well and were "unlucky" yesterday then he's becoming as deluded as houllier was becoming during his final days here. the thing is, if he wasn't english the likes of sky and the rest of the media would be writing his obituary already. all i've heard since the game is "he need's time" and "he's inherited a poor squad". well this poor squad was still playing a lot better last season than it is now, despite the biggest injury crisis i've seen since the civil war.

when ramos was managing spurs and had 2 points from 8 games the press and fans alike absolutely slaughtered him and he was gone. this was despite the fact that he won spurs first trophy for nearly a decade the season before and in the two years prior to that he'd won two UEFA cups back to back and the spanish cup aswell. funnily enough i didn't hear the press banging on about how he'd inherited jol's squad (which cost millions by the way). then again everyone in the press loved jol didn't they? he wasn't like that cold hearted benitez who didn't play up to their every word and give them what they wanted to hear.

well if plonkers like you showed more respect and agreed with my assumptions i wouldnt have to repeat myself would i now. You now im always right in the end thats why u keep having a pop at me out of sheer jealousy that u know feck all.

Ha ha! I actually quite liked the player mate and i would have kept him on but unlike your good self I do not have posters of him on my bedroom ceiling and I don't go on about him in every single post I make!

£18million pound its cost us to see us 2nd from bottom  :no

So as I asked you before what is the answer because I am fkd if I know? Who would we replace Hodgson with? I gather that it would cost £2.5m for the new owners to sack him under the terms of his contract. That is not a fat lot in the overall scheme of things (RBS would probably give them a loan! lol) and if we could get a top class manager with a winning mentality then it would be worth it but who is available?

1st loss in 4 years vs the blueshite  :(

We are stuck with Roy now and I DON'T WANT O'NEILL!

Let's face it Rafa wanted to go and successfully negotiated his departure which in footballing terms is called the sack! Rafa also knew that he had failed with Alonso and Mascherano so what was he going to do without them. He also knew that the near £20m spent on Aquilani was looking like a disaster as Aquilani wanted away from the Anfield problems and the ferocity of the Premiership.

Thommo how the /hell can you say we played well in the second hald and we batterd them, Are you Roy :;):
Were were absolutly diabolical the whole game , As soon as They went 2-0 the just sat and let us come at them because they knew we had nothing, Oh its ok if you just like to see a little bit of passing but ffs at least let there be an end product, The bitters were confortable yesterday and we never threatend them at all . and im talking all over the park, Im really gobsmacked how you can say we played well in the second half and batterd them. They let us play pass the ball to each other .

Lets be fair Nanny, really lets be fair. After the 60 minute mark we were the better team because they were protecting a 2-0 lead. We had more players committed to attack and we had more possession, I know this, because we had 60% possession (according to the tv) between 65-70. The problem was, we weren't creative, we resorted to shooting from long distances and Torres had a decent chance which Howard save. After a diabolical first half, we were better in the last half hour of the game.

Still, not good enough and it has to change.

i'm as worried about our play under roy without the ball as i am when we've got it if i'm honest. under rafa, even if we weren't at our free flowing best attacking wise we pressed the ball high up the pitch and made it difficult for the opposition to break us down. now we don't even do that and teams (and not great ones at that) just play through us with ease, even at anfield.

Theres nothing fair about it , The bitters had done what they need to do and closed the shop, There wasnt a threat from anyone and they knew it,  FFS Izzat we have scored 1 goal from open play this season, one goal, I was gonna go to Napoli ive never been there before but feck that for a lark spend loads to go and watch him use his 35 year old system no chance, so ive give up my ticket, Moyes this morning said the bitters played bad and they have played better this season and lost , i totaly agree with him because the bitters wernt all that good either , but it just shows you how bad we were ,

Oh and Roy behave will you, youve already sh,it on Agger one of the best ball playing centre halfs at this club since Hansen, and you bring us Konchesky , really really really FOL

with the way we play, why would we want to use a ball playing centre half? if he can't hoof it aimlessly long he's not needed under the current regime.
