Hiddink!

i would like Hiddink as our manager, he would fit into the way liverpool is meant to be. but could we get him? whats the lasted on him.

the 'latest' on him is..

He was approached for the job in the summer but declined.

I think with the new owners etc, he may be persuaded..

Then there's all the persuasion through the internet terrorist route.. email the guy !

Lakes says he doesn't care if we sack Roy or not, and I must confess I do think people get a bit confused when people "defend" him, thinking it means they think he's doing a great job, it doesn't.

The point is, moving a manager on should only be undertaken in the most extreme of circumstances. Arguably we may already be there, time will tell. We were there at the end of last season, and when you look at some of the players littering our squad it always amazes me that people think that having that as a result of a six year building plan was a good reason for keeping a manager.

Sacking Roy though would cost 6 million quid, and there's a good chance you could be paying out compensation to whoever you bring in. Then you've got the risk that the new bloke won't like Mereiles and there's another 10 million quid spunked, or Poulsen at 4.5 mill, or Konchesky at 3 mill. It's easy to see how swapping your managers willy nilly is the recipe for disaster. Swapping them only when you have to and then picking the right one is the way to go. It's looking a bit bleak for the choice we've made this time, but given the situation, the lack of games played and all that, in my judgement you might as well give the fella chance to turn it around.

That doesn't though mean I think he's doing a fantastic job, or that I love him, I don't.

Take 10 to 15 million from transfer budget and repair the monumental mistake they made during the summer - pay for Hodgson to go and then pay for Hiddink to come in . I would even like Di Matteo to come in .

no mate ive thought you talked sh.it for a long time

Look, let's knock this nonsense on the head, alright?  It's simple folks: either debate the merits of Lakes' views without the abuse or just ignore him.  Flaming posts will be deleted and cards will be handed out for those who persist.

Hiddink is good, but only for a short time.  He never stays around long enough.

Yes bav think how many goals we`ve scored this past few seasons by pinching the ball high up the park, a couple against utd alone.

People paste their selves into a corner on this site, for the whole time rafa was here when we under performed the blame was laid at his door. Last season he finished 7th. Not good enough for us, not good enough with the players he has at his disposal said many, we should be challenging for the league.
Now the same people are saying not roys fault, the players are sh!te, bottom of the league sh!te? Now come on.

Some of the players are not good enough, they were not good enough when Rafa was here either, but he managed to paper over the cracks pretty well as he was a solid tactician. We probably over achieved with Rafa (aside from that last season where we fell apart) but now with a fairly average manager it's there for all to see.

We need a fresh start with a new manager. I suppose one positive is J.Henry has been meeting with a few reps of forums, ive no doubt that some of them will mention to Henry that Roy has to go. Unfortunately I don't think the owners would sack him on their first day owning the club so he probably has some time, a few weeks at best.

Yes and I dont think we will get him out of his current contract easily. I'd prefer it if we tried to get a manager that could help repair and build the club up again. I think we need to take a chance on a younger up and coming manager. From what I understand that might fit the philosophy of our new owners as well.

yep i agree with you on most of that, i still think the problem would still be there if it was another manager and not royt here at the start of the season, we are in a mess and i understand why the board piucked roy, yes it was not my first choice but he is a fire fighter manager....but this one might be too big for him to fight and the same for a lot of other managers, untill Jan and the transfer window.

If we let Roy spend a few quid in January on 'his type' of players we really are fecked.

We need to GET RID NOW so that the new manager has time to assess the squad before January.

The players are devoid of faith in the manager after months of sitting off drills, confidence is at a low, we aren't creating and Roy will not turn it around.

if he is still here, and i dont think he will, he will not have the spending power as rafa did, who ever is the manager is going to have to show the nbew owners that the player shoulde be at the club and that he not only going to be a part player in the team.

the years of taking 76 players to the club in hope of getting it right with 7 of them has gone, the new owners will buy players but they will make sure they are the right player, going by the bbc last night there was talk that the club is going to look at the lower divs to see what young kids are there or for that might have been ovcerlooked, got to say i do like that idea.
