Yes and I dont think we will get him out of his current contract easily. I'd prefer it if we tried to get a manager that could help repair and build the club up again. I think we need to take a chance on a younger up and coming manager. From what I understand that might fit the philosophy of our new owners as well.

Yeah thats how I feel as well, I`m not sure Hiddink is right for us. Long term I mean.
We need to get this right.

I dont know if throwing in a young manager would be good in our current situation.  I could see them doing what Chelsea did and bring in someone like Hiddink to stabilize the club and then appoint someone younger for long term next season.  That's what I would do at least.

I dont know why the mods let you keep posting like this.

If anything roy/the new manager will have more spending power as its likely that they wont have to sell to buy. The only problem i can see is if the new owners chooses to wait until next summer before starting to rebuild the squad.

Thats another option but again i dont think its likely we will get Hiddink in that role. Perhaps Kenny would be a more realistic option.

The point is, moving a manager on should only be undertaken in the most extreme of circumstances. Arguably we may already be there, time will tell. We were there at the end of last season, and when you look at some of the players littering our squad it always amazes me that people think that having that as a result of a six year building plan was a good reason for keeping a manager.

Sacking Roy though would cost 6 million quid, and there's a good chance you could be paying out compensation to whoever you bring in. Then you've got the risk that the new bloke won't like Mereiles and there's another 10 million quid spunked, or Poulsen at 4.5 mill, or Konchesky at 3 mill. It's easy to see how swapping your managers willy nilly is the recipe for disaster. Swapping them only when you have to and then picking the right one is the way to go. It's looking a bit bleak for the choice we've made this time, but given the situation, the lack of games played and all that, in my judgement you might as well give the fella chance to turn it around.

That doesn't though mean I think he's doing a fantastic job, or that I love him, I don't.

Mick after giving your judgement serious thought I have come to the conclusion although it is unique  .... it is also intrinsically flawed

I would hope that when a new manager is at the helm they do get rid of Poulson and Konchesky and co ,because that would certainly be a definite  start to ingratiating themselves with me and like minded fans .... what people have to realize that this isn't Knee jerk like some believe it to be ....if that was the case then the Birmingham game would have been the ideal setting for such a reaction ....not when we sit disgracefully embedded in the relegation zone .... the man is simply devoid of inspiration and nothing will change his stubborn mindset

His usual absolutely deluded bollox about how we played well and how results will come if we keep playing like that.

The hypocrisy of the silence of the press is deafening. I could only imagine Benitez saying the same things post match. He'd get absolutely destroyed. Oh, wait...he still is getting destroyed.

Then he must of seen a totally different game - we for exactly what we deserved out of that game - Nothing . The BS fans spoke to today were laughing at his comments about if he got sacked it would be bad for football ?! The guy is sounding like a complete plonker at the moment . He isn't good enough to be manager of the club - he never was . Please NESV rescue our season and rectify the monumental mistake made during the summer .

Something is wrong with this guy ,It is one thing to back your players and it is another thing to make a fool of yourself and the club ,Roy made a fool and a clown of himself with this poor interview. He is either shellshocked ,Delusional or disconnected from reality. I would rather he shut up nod and move on.

Not one person I spoke too wanted Hodgson as manager - even BS fans were saying he isn't good enough and are delighted he replaces Rafa .

I don't know about "defending" Roy, but I still think it would be a mistake to call time on him after eight matches. There were parts of todays game which I thought were an improvement on the Blackpool performance, not enough but an improvement, but whichever way you look at it sacking him now isn't the right move for me.

The ONLY reason why I can see sense in getting rid, and I've said this before, is that the fans have dug themselves into such a deep hole of dislike over him I cannot see him winning them over no matter what he does. I absolutely 100% believe that until the fans and the club are united (which means they must be behind the manager) we will not achieve our potential. It's looking impossible for Roy to achieve this as far as I can see it.

Mick, I think you are overstating the importance of message boards.

Practically every fan board of every sport on the internet will have people who hold bitter and diametrically opposed views. They lash into each other because they hide behind the shield of internet anonymity. This doesnt translate into real life. Its not like Anfield is full of fans locked in civil war, people will argue all right but nowhere near with the bitterness you'll see on the internet.

Even when we were winning leagues back in the 80s you still had fans whinging about team selection etc. Its human nature. it's

fecking un-believeable- todays oerforfance was better in parts than the blackpool game! fecking hell -i hope you have me on ignore, cause i will ague all fecking day & night about your observation!- how the feck can you even compare the two fecking games in what they stand for is fecking ridiculas to say the least!

feck all this super fan, better fan bu11sh1t,that you may spout at me! the fact is & always will remain,-the derby is & always be a totally differnent  game to any other anyone whose been to will witness & testify in knowing where i'm coming from!

'our performance today was an improvement on the blackpool game'

:veryangry   again tactics shouldn't even come into this build up the game,it's fecking blackpool at home ffs- we should, not could-should of battered that team! it's not about the manager -you can support him all you like, get behind the team 100% as you put it- the fact remains that at this moment in time -we are in this together, that means IN IT TOGETHER- THE PLAYERS REGARDLESS OF POSISTION,should wipe the floor with teams like blackpool, feck tactics from the manager-the quality of player should stand out first & foremost to win a football game!

so as for today your comment about we played better in parts than the blackpool game, really shows you don't have to be a super fan of LFC-you just need to know the difference, between expectany an what is expected of every player when they pull on a red shirt!

the blackpool game was full of expectancy cause we were at home, quality, passion, guts etc first -tactics second. the mersey derby -passion,guts,quality second-that's the differnce.

today we showed none of that & both games showed -this is what needs adresing-the manager knows what is expected -the players need to back him up!

btw when we were winning titles back in the 80's,i was at every home game an most away games & i can't remember most fans whinging about team selections! cause the team then had passion, guts an desire to wear the red shirt first & formost-the manager then knew he had a group of players in which showed the best quality of leading by example-then tactics was just about fine tuning the team.

the team today & in recent weeks as shown none of this, that is the major concern for me!

It was mistaken appointing Roy without the ownership being resolved first. He clearly saw the role as at least a three year one. The club don't want to get rid right now so they're in a difficult situation. The question will be whether and when it gets worse before it gets better and how NESV will react if it does get worse.
