Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Article does seem to nail a lot of what the problem is at LFC, on the field. It took Rafa five years to assemble players to play his style of football and it would stand to reason these players are ill suited to play Roy's style. It also makes sense why he bought Poulsen and Konchesky as he knows they already can play the type of football he requires. Also explains why Babel and Riera were consistently left out of Rafa's lineups as they probably didn't follow through with their defensive responsibilities.
I understand both men's tactics a little better now but still hate them and wished we had a more positive style of play.

No messing around, Babel out on the first bus to pass the ground, clear out the deadwood and demand pride in the shirt.

Capello's in town, only turn up if you mean action.

Straight swap for Roy  :D

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Liverpool Echo   8/10/2010 ....
ROY HODGSON has been reassured he has the full support of the club’s prospective new owners as Liverpool rubbished speculation there is a break clause in the manager’s contract.

Reports have suggested that written into the three-year deal Hodgson signed in July was that the Reds could dispense with his services if there was a change of ownership.

However, no such clause exists and if the £300million takeover is completed Hodgson’s position will be under no threat.

There will be no Christmas deadline to turn things around and New England Sports Ventures (NESV) are ready to back the Reds boss with cash in the January transfer window.

Hodgson, who has welcomed news of the sale, admits he is relishing the opportunity to strengthen his squad.

“We know what we’ve got to do,” he said.

“We know we need some new players, we know we need investment, and we know we are weak in certain areas of the team.

“These things have been the case since I arrived at the club and we haven’t had the chance to put things right.
“The club will be in a pretty healthy situation in general terms if the sale goes through.”

Liverpool have endured their worst start to a season for 57 years and will go into next Sunday’s Merseyside derby at Goodison in the relegation zone.

However, Hodgson has urged supporters to keep faith in his ability to turn things around.

“What I ask of the fans is their patience, their trust and their belief because we will get it right – there are no doubts about that,” he added.

“Unfortunately when you lose matches, especially games like Sunday (against Blackpool) that people don’t expect you to lose, it colours everything.

“It comes on the back of a Carling Cup defeat, albeit with a second team, so that adds to the woe.

“It’s just a question of time and I’m afraid sometimes you have to live through bad periods.

“Luckily, at Liverpool you haven’t had to live through too many of them.

“This is a bad time and it will take time to get it right but we will get it right.

“I can only hope the fans don’t get too frustrated and show some sympathy and understanding for our situation.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina is hoping a change of ownership will help put the club back on track after a nightmare few months.

Reina said: “This is one of the worst periods I have experienced since I arrived at Liverpool.

“I have read about the change of ownership in the newspapers and I hope that things will improve.

“We have had some terrible results, but we have time to react.

“This team has not forgotten how to play football.”

Memo to the manager... we cant keep the faith if its not there in the first place ...put simply we have no faith in your ability to turn things around .... as for this statement : "It’s just a question of time and I’m afraid sometimes you have to live through bad periods,“Luckily, at Liverpool you haven’t had to live through too many of them"
I think that question can be  answered pretty easily ... because we have had managers who have generally had a clue and not as a result of negative tactics and smallminded ambitions  left us in the  fucking relegation zone
The manager was brought in to do a specific job ...which was providing stability ....he has failed not just badly but abysmally, and his sound bites in the media   that have followed each cowardly performance have been anything less than reassuring ....time to go Roy..... to a team that best measures your ambition or the apparent lack of it

Maybe after this some of our more bitter fans can give the guy a chance, or just keep slightly less vocal on here to stop winding up the others.

Actions mean more than words and the situation on the field is off the managers own making . Change your ways , tactics and set up and actually score goals and win matches and then people will back off .

Article in the Echo ..I copied then  pasted then added my comment ..... and I will continue to do so as long as I have a voice  :D
Don't think the man possesses the traits essential in managing a club as big as Liverpool .... if other posters do then I am at a loss to explain what games they have been watching, and how they can deliver any other verdict on the managers capabilities than simply not good enough
