ROY HODGSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I applaud the single minded of you who state that because he's our Manager he deserves our support; its the Liverpool way, i know that.

We ALL get behind the Manager and the Team, however, the consequences of turning the other cheek, hoping ALL will be well in six months, giving Roy time, with comment's like;

The Manager hasn't had time to formulate his plans, The squad turned up late cause they're all Internationals and they played in the World Cup, have well and truly gone!

They are truly naive, Roy is and has been since he took charge, completely Out of his Depth, the job of Manager of LFC is totally and completely beyond him, this reminds me of Allardyce at Newcastle, a Manager that's waited for the "Big Time" since his Career started and when he get's it blow's it in three months!

Well it hasn't taken me three month's to understand that Roy is not the answer, we are were we are, fifteenth in the league, struggling to beat a team that are just off the bottom of their own league (Utrecht), with such an incipid performance, the "Great Escape" was better viewing for most of the second half.

It was so predictable, Steve Mcqueen gets locked in the cooler at the end, the rest get shot, on this last point, Roy deserves the "cooler" at least for playing Poulsen and Lucas yet again in Midfield, does this Man learn nothing, (Sorry couldn't resist after "Those People" Comment at the weekend), the irony will be lost on some people!

Sorry back to the game, shambolic, boring, square peg's round hole's, again, Fernando looking like a man that say's, i've already handed in my transfer request, what was the question, Stevie G sitting at home, like me watching the Great Escape on Sky Movies!

Back to the point, Roy Hodgson has proved he is not the answer, the man should go and go now, this football club will only suffer under his Managership.

This is not a pro Rafa rant, in my opinion, Rafa was a decent Manager, but he's a Football Manager not Kofi Annan, he should have stuck to the Football and not tried to take the owners down from the inside, in the end again in my opinion he didn't know what he was doing, Managing the Club or sticking up for the Fan's against the owners.

The Owner's, shyster's, and thing's that can't be printed on an internet site, they take responsibility for all of this, so how can it be changed, well if they want to realise any profit from they're tenure, they'll be thinking the same as me at this moment, Roy, sorry, you ain't it!

So what's the answer? New Owners..... YES, don't at this moment in time care who, ACME RENTAL'S will do, but, it's a big one we NEED a NEW Manager, this one just ain't cutting the Mustard and never will, he just isn't up to the job and never will be!

I think Hodgson was brought in to continue these defensive tactics so that interest in the likes of Torres drops and whatever value remains in the club will still be there in a year or two. Clearly Broughton thought that if Torres had another great season clubs would come in for him and Liverpool wouldn't be able to turn the big offers down. The truth is that Torres will only go in January or next summer if he asks to leave. I can't imagine Broughton will be too unhappy if LFC struggled to reach mid-table this season. His beloved Chelsea will still reign.

What gets me is why Dalglish is still at the club. He can't seriously be happy with the football being played.

It seems to me that even for the likes of Gerrard money will always be most important. Who really thinks the likes of Neville would allow United to fall into such total and utter s**** without at least handing in a transfer request? In the great context of things United were only as bad as LFC are now in 89-90 and even then it was only for a few games.

I see little hope on the horizon and little chance of improvement all season as long as steady as she goes Hodgson is in charge. Would be very surprised to see a win on sunday as well. Very worrying times ahead and not just this season. We'd better hope there's a new Shanks out there somewhere because I can't see any other way back.

Second Fulham player to come out with this.

FULHAM forward Zoltan Gera admits he is relieved to be free of Roy Hodgson’s shackles.

Hodgson – who led the Cottagers to the Europa League final last season – vacated the Fulham dugout in the summer to take over at Liverpool.

But the new Anfield boss has endured an uncomfortable start to life on Merseyside.
Liverpool lie 16th in the Premier League and Hodgson has already been criticised for his rigid and cautious style of play, particularly away from home. In contrast, new Fulham manager Mark Hughes has introduced a more attacking approach at Craven Cottage.

And Gera admits his side are a more attractive proposition under the man nicknamed Sparky.

He said “I think we play a bit more open football than last year – it’s good to play in a team like that.

“There are a lot of one-against-one situations during games and the players can do the right things in these situations.

“Players have more freedom to go forward and do what they can for the team, which is good.”

Hughes, who has yet to taste a Premier League defeat as Fulham boss, knows he needs to improve the club’s away form.
Under Hodgson, the London club picked up just one away league win all last season.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

It doesn't matter who the manager is.

The football has to be better than this otherwise there's little point anymore.

Even Santini at Spurs wasn't this bad. TBH if I'd known how poor we'd be this season I'd have been happy for Rafa to carry on as manager. He played negative tactics a lot but not this negative.

I am in the wait and see and he needs time camp but every game it just seems to get weaker.  The owners is not his fault, the seemingly depressive state of the stars is not his fault, the malaise with the fans is not his fault.

He must have known about the clubs situation surely so I assume he took the job knowing that was a huge distraction.  If he didnt then he shouldnt be a top level manager its not as if it was a secret and theres no way a man of Hodgsons experience and intelligence would have thought that it was old mad man Rafa just having a rant.

This is my main gripe = he came in as the breath of fresh air and even a pro Rafa man like myself has to admit that the club needed that.  But so far there has been no evidence at all of this fresh air and as much as I want the club and Roy to succeed this is a huge concern and no papering the cracks with the fixture list etc can shake the gut feeling that he has not hit the ground running.

The time debate is a weird one as well as Im all for backing the manager but at some point (not yet by a long way ) we do have to look at whats good for the club.  And although not his fault the circumstances at the club is like a black depression and we are crying out for a fighter and a leader and it doesnt look like weve got one at the moment IMO.

He could still easily prove us all wrong and I have no problems with eating humble pie but to be honest to myself I want him to take the club by the horns and radically improve things as we were lead to believe.  A team with Reina, Gerrad, Torres, etc is not good enough all of a sudden    MADNESS or does EVERY Liverpool fan have to face up to the FACT that its not Rafa or Roy as this forum seems obsessed by but the club itself burning while the yanks literally fiddle

I dont really want to compare the six games of this season to last seasons thirty eight because its too early. Has he improved things from the first game to the sixth? We have had a hard start by anyones standards which everyone admits. Slowly inching our way up the table seems to have stopped the slide we were on. So I would say we have slightly improved. But not much, I'll give you that.
We must to better, no doubt about it

Slightly improved? Come on, please take your head out of the sand. We are and have been ( save a few flashes ) measurably worse than last season. The football is rotten, the attitude from some of the players is rotten, the results are rotten and the club is rotting away slowly day by day.

At least if we were playing lovely football it would detract from all the ownership woes, but the fact is we are playing like  bottom of the league team, struggling for form and points. 6 points after 6 games ( :censored: the tough fixture list excuse.......... We are Liverpool :censored:.g FC ) we should and we have been burying teams like this for years and years.

Lets get real here. I love this club as much as anyone and more that some. It gives me no pleasure to watch the players wearing the shirt giving the types of performances I have witnessed this season. I want them to play better, to their potential. I want them to sweep all in front of them. I want them to be challenging with chelsea at the top of the league. But I am a realist. We are fu'cked. Blame the owners, blame Benitez, blame the players, blame the fans, blame Moores and Parry. Blame who you like but the FACT is we are in a terrible state. Probably far worse than most could imagine.
We have a new manager, who some, not all, believe is not good enough to be in charge at LFC and have run their own campaign to undermine him with various tactics. This has been more successful than it should because we desperately need to be firing on all cylinders, and drawing, never mind losing is looked on with perverse glee by those who want Roy sacked.
Sadly Roy has not got the breathing room Benitez had at the start of his first season because were not in the Champions league (see Benitez). He has not got he breathing room in the Premier league that Benitez had at the start of his first season (see Benitez). No. What Roy has got is the axe hanging over his head if we dont win every game or at least go close and play with style, verve, class. Unlike last season (see Benitez).
I am as gutted as ayone that this is not happening but Im not going to call for the managers head because, no mater how much I want him to wave his magic wand, hes going to make mistakes, fu'ck up, get things wrong and scrape draws away from home in europe (top of the group by the way).
So all you people who were talking, then shouting and are now screaming for the managers head becuase he hasnt turned a bunch of under achievers (see Benitez) into world beaters in a coupe of months, can chat all the sh'ite you like. Because, I'll say it again, if he fails, we fail. And you can dream to your hearts content of "super manager" coming in and saving us, but thats all it is, a dream.
Welcome to twit and tw@ts LFC: deamers and snides.

Knew that we'd play anti football under Roy, but I never thought we'd be so tactically clueless as well.  These are truly dark days.
