Please tell me why this makes sense because I cannot get my head around it, it was one game more that Fulham nor Roy did not win.

On what merits did he get the job ?

Going by your posts, I'd say you IQ is probably the only thing holding you back from making sense of many things...

To answer your question as simply as possible so even you might understand it... He was manager of Fulham... a side with no Europa league expectations and little to no league hope...  For you to come on and seriously try to compare his achievements of last year to Rafa's says it all really !!

The protest went well, was highly publicised and got the message over about how Liverpool fans feel about the owners.
Do you not think youre slightye over-reacting?

TBF when the manager says That Group Of People, who are actually Liverpool fans comes out with a statement like that then fans have a right to have a cob on.  To go along with his other bizarre small time statements.
He took that back and redemed himself because of the lurkers on the Rattle and the club must have had a word.

Its gone now anyway whats been said has been said no point going over old ground.

Can someone answer my question please on why he got the job, seriously?

Now now, lets get it right
He said "a group of people" which they are. Ok they were annoyed by his naivity but to make it into an issue is silly.

Do you not think youre slightly over-reacting?

I just believe in being  honest Lad ,and sadly that's how I feel about the manager belittling the fans who were about to protest on Saturday .. Ok he eventually came back and retracted the statement in a hap handed fashion ... but for those who stayed behind to demonstrate the damage had already been done ...and in no small part the fans who attended felt cut adrift by the manager who in a very public sense had earlier poured scorn on their efforts ....a manager who they believed would be 100% behind their fight and its relevance to the longevity of this glorious club we love unconditionally .... but he wasn't mate and although I don't think its unforgivable and he can never redeem himself ...I do feel slightly detached from the club and the manager at the moment ,and Im sorry I cant help feeling that way at a time when we needed the managers backing he was found wanting
and it left us a tad estranged

Last season when it seemed inevitable that Rafa would be soon be gone and people were talking about who they'd want as manager, I thought Roy was about the best man we would get. I knew Jose was out of the question, didn't want O'Neil and didn't expect we would get a manager as good as Rafa. I thought Roy would do well, on the basis he seemed to over achieve at Fulham although I must admit I did not look at his record elsewhere. I heard tales of how he failed at Blackburn but thought as it was so long ago he would have improved considerably since then.

I thought Roy's strengths would be playing square pegs in square holes, perhaps an arm round the shoulder of certain players to help bring the best out of them like Babel & Lucas, making us sound defensively and generally keeping things simple. As some have said, steady the ship.

I did have reservations about whether or not he would command the respect of top players and be able to bring them to the club, but with the commitment of Nando & Stevie, signing of Joe Cole and to an extent Meireles these reservations subsided. Come the start of the season I was optomistic that we were real top four contenders and an outside (very outside) bet for the title. Roy had been riding a wave in my eyes and things like throwing Pacheco on in European qualifiers only added to my feel good factor.

However, I am worried.
Having a shortage of funds to sign players and steadying a ship is one thing, but I do not think we are in such a sorry state that we stand off anyone at Anfield, least of all the Sunderlands & West Broms of the league. For them teams to be coming and having so much posession is simply wrong imo. One moment of class was all that separated us and West feckin Brom. Away at Birmingham which ok is not a place many teams win, we created sweet fa and were lucky to get a point. Away at Utd we were stood off so deep that they could pass the ball at will on the edge of our third. Against both Utd and Sunderland we have looked a lot better, and Nando has looked a different player, when we have switched to 4-4-2 and taken the shackles off a bit but both times we've waited til we're behind to do this. We can't counter attack when everyone is so far away from a lone striker.

As for square pegs in square holes, I don't know why you'd play a centre mid (Meireles) on right wing and move Kuyt inside when he's played right for so long?

Arms round shoulders - more like hang them out to dry in the case of Babel & Lucas. However low down the league they are Nothampton are a team, Roy threw out 11 lads who've hardly played together, did feck all during the game then castigated the lads publically afterwards. Early days I now but to date Poulsen is not an improvement on Lucas for me. He may be better with the ball but he is one paced, appears to lack energy and is not better without the ball than Lucas. As we are setting up to play mostly without the ball I don't see what Poulsen brings.

Although he later tried to make amends when Taggart accused Nando of cheating, to me it should be instinct for a manager to back his players in situations like that, especially when that player is yet to find top form. Similarly with the protest comments, a manager of LFC needs to feel the club and those comments last week show he doesn't get it, or is too weak to show that he does. Roy's 'dignified' approach is bordering on being plain wet and I don't like the idea of our manager chumming up with that red faced cu_nt.

Big Mick & Thommo, I've read lots of your posts pulling people's motives to bits & harping on about agendas but can either of you tell us some positives about how we are playin?

its making me desperate for our nightmare to come to its conclusion be it good or bad I just need to know now because its

Fair enough
But I would say if he called it a waste of time, a nuisance, or a misguided protest as scotch hole virtually said about the skanks then I would agree with you. As it is I think its a little childish to put so much stock in a brief comment from a naive manager who probably hadnt though it through properly.
By the way I am in agreement with SOS and applaude what theyre doing for the club. I just hope they dont let the things that matter be overshadowed by something as trivial as this

In truth mate I would say when it comes to vehemently defending a manager or making disparaging remarks about  him we could all be described as a little childish
in fact wouldn't it be fair to say that SOS is when all things considered the one fight we all believe in equally ,and if that's the case it matters not how the manager worded his ill advised responses at the press conference they were still poorly timed especially given his previous statements referring to the importance of the removal of the owners post haste .....
Silence would have been the more markedly intelligent response

So we agree that he had already expressed his opinion that the yanks should fu'ck off just after he arrived. I accept that silence may have been a better option, particularly after his statement has been used to tw@t him over the head with. But as Ive said, I dont think people should read too much into it and I definitely think they shouldnt hold grudges.

Right now though Lad SOS and the stalwarts on RAWK are the people who are making things happen through their sheer determination ...so anything said that in any respect devalues  their worth will be automatically frowned upon ..no matter who says it ..and that goes for the manager
surely we can concur on that

Frowned upon. Absolutely.
A mistake, through his statement being "insensitive" and open to misinterpretation.
But he wasnt being anti-SOS in the slightest. And I hope they dont see it that way and carry on with the crucial work they do

Get over it and move on, I say. Him saying that a protest makes his job of managing the team a little harder (if that is what he said, and I note the absence of scrutiny from some quarters) isn't going to do any lasting damage to the campaign to get rid of Gillett and Hicks. He's made it abundantly clear that he wants the current owners out and that's the significant point. He is not pro the owners, and by not being pro the owners, his desire to see a change naturally coincides with the desire of SOS, affiliated groups and indeed all sensible LFC fans.

I don't think his comments left any room for misinterpretation ...truth be told I thought whilst not being totally dismissive of SOS actions he did show a complete lack of understanding towards its members ...and for that matter the importance of the ensuing battle ... he actually for all intents and purposes undermined our cause .... ok naively but nonetheless it did cause James McKenna to revise his press statement and include the managers comments as more than just a foot note ....
and when we need to be united in concentrating our efforts solely on the removal of the owners ...it did prove an unwelcome distraction
