Don't be silly. I know everyones got their agenda here, but lets at least try and keep some semblance of reality going, it makes it a bit easier to muster up some enthusiasm to discuss things.

It's by no means an attempt to pass any bucks to say that to cal it "Roys team" after six league matches is the latest in a long line of utterly ridiculous statements on this board. Everybody who plays in the team and the manager himself is talking about a "bedding in" period, the new signings have barely a couple of appearances under their belts and we are trying (unsuccessfully) to bring in a new style of play.

I'm well aware where your coming from, but do try and be serious FFS. Anyone who is serious about curbing wind up posts would do well to look at some of yours over the last few days, they really should.

What about the other games we have played or do they not count ? The Europa games , the CC games , the pre season games . Hodgson has brought in his own players and is trying to get them to play his way so it's his team now - he is at the rudder of the ship , it's his tactics , his set up . When it works he will get the praise for it and when it doesn't work his will get the criticism .

I didn't say it was Hodgson's team. It's his midfield, though, and he's already "dealt with the fallout" on that front. He loaned Aquilani and replaced him with Meireles. He sold Mascherano and replaced him with Poulsen. They cost £17m between them and can be judged accordingly.

Better just to begin by saying that the squad Roy inherited - plus the alterations he has since been allowed to make - leave a squad capable of reaching a given level, and then as the games go by assess whether or not we are hitting that level. Depending on how far off we are, it might mean you overestimated the quality of the squad to begin with (relative to the competition), or it might mean the manager hasn't maximised their potential. So far I don't think he's come close to maximising our potential and that's why I'm a little twitchy.

Fair comment.
But by what GYBS has already posted it doesnt look like he would go down the line of Roy inheriting a squad containing average players?

I'm also a little twitchy but I still think it's very early days yet.  We clearly should expect to see a sharp upturn in both form and results at some stage this season, given the unquestioned talent in our squad.  It would be useful for the manager if it happened sooner rather than later because the vultures are starting to circle (too quickly and too zealously in my view) but I think we can't really judge him properly until December at the earliest.

Not really. It would have been "interesting" and would have bucked the trend if the fella had said "I much preferred life under Hodgson to be honest", but footballers tend to proclaim life has improved under their new boss in public, as do we all I guess.

If you need an illustration of how big a pinch of salt it can be taken with, check out our own "Danny" Agger, who went from praising up the new training laugh fest to slagging off the long ball regime in the space of seven days  .

I think everyone is if they're honest, but I'm not in the least bit twitchy about the fact we've changed managers. That was a major step in the right direction, we've just got to make sure now that we've got the right one to replace him.

That's why IMHO we must support this manager 100% until he can sensibly be judged (we are nowhere near that point yet) so we can properly assess if he fits the bill or not. If he doesn't we look again, but it was definately the right thing to begin the search.

Now even I'd disagree with that LFC. I think most people wuld accept that the squad as is, be it Roys buys or what was left is plenty good enough to challenge for fourth place. If it doesn't, he can't claim t have done a good job IMHO.

It's a fair point you make and you're probably right. I wasn't reading anything into it myself, but at the same time seeing as Fulham are doing so much better than us at the moment, there may be something in it

No your just paranoid ;) thats the fourth person to speak about Hodgsons tactics in the press since saturday.

And none of them are praising them, its a massive worry but those of us that watched Fulham over 2 seasons knew that already. Oh well all we can do is hope for a new owner in October and a better manager to arrive with him.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
