I know there is a game of some importance on this weekend, but I'm really looking forward to Thursday. I think I good result here will set us up well for the weekend, but I'm especially interested in seeing some of the youngsters get a bit more of a run.

I hope we'll line up something like this:

Reina

Kelly Soto Agger Konchesky

Poulsen
Meireles

Babel Cole Pacheco

Ngog

Bench: Jones, Wilson, Darby, Shelvey, Gerrard, Maxi, Amoo

Agger needs a run, as surely Roy will start him this weekend (hope prings eternal), and let's hope Poulsen and Meireles are starting together on the weekend, so they'll need more time together. In some ways I think I'd prefer Babel up front, but N'gog has earnt his place in the Europa league I think.

I really think Cole and Meirles will be played. They need some more time on the pitch if they're gonna be ready for the Mancs.

Hodgson has already said many senior players will be rested. With Wilson, Shelvey, Suso, Amoo, Darby all playing in the reseves on Tuesday that leaves the likes of Babel Spearing Pacheco and the Greek to get a match.

I would love a midfield of Meireles and Shelvey to be honest, play both box to box.

Shelvey deserves a bash in the first team with the performances he's been putting in for england and the ressies recently

I think we should also somehow look to give Gerrard, Cole and Meireles some time together even it's for few min. These three and Torres have never played together and that could be a problem against ManU on Sunday. Keeping these men on the pitch together would help them to gel and understand each other's movement and play better.

I would too but Shelvey played on Tuesday, its going to be tough to be ready for Thursday's match.

Get the win so we dont have to worry about the 2nd leeg as much... Might not be the worst idea to get some sort of winning form going before we plan ManUtd..

Oh im still used to the Uefa cup i guess... Fck it... Id still play that lineup... Its the beginning of the season and the more football the likes of Torres, Gerrard and Cole get the better they'll become.. Lets not forget its a largely changed side from that playing last year or the one before... The likes of Konchesky, Poulsen Meireles and Cole could also probably do with playing under less pressure before being thrown into a big game against a largely settled United side...

I agree mate, at the start of the season you should try and get as close to your best side out until we get settled and then bring in players as things need freshening up when you are in a bit of form.
