Have you ever seen salcido play ?

Also, Salcido isn't better than Koncheskey. Mexicans can't play in the premier league. They are bought on high expectations and then crash. Look at dos santos and chicharito. dos santos has been horrible for spurs and chicharito is just being talked up out of his socks, but has proven nothing in any important games yet. The only recent decent mexican to be successful out of the mexican leagues is Rafa Marquez, who now plays for New York redbulls.
I think it's good to sign Koncheskey only to put a bit of pressure on Agger and Aurelio, and have a good replacement if Agger's hurt. You can't trust Aurelio's fitness level.![]()

Bob Fulham got him for 1.5 mil we spent 4 mil on Konchesky .

He's now playing for a better club as well, which usually makes it easier for people to perform better. There will be much less pressure on him at Liverpool
salcido is coming from psv, who are a good club. So, not only is he switching from the much less physical dutch league, but he's switching from one of the best teams in the league, to a mediocre team in the prem.
Not only do I think he won't be able to stand up to the physicality of the prem, but there will be so much more pressure on him considering he is playing for a mid table team, then when he was at PSV, playing for one of the best teams.

Think you have that the wrong way round - there will be far more pressure on Konchesky than he has ever had before - where as salcido going to a smaller club will feel less pressure .

Given the funds available and the fact that left backs are as rare as hens teeth, its a good signing,a solid signing!Yeah we would all love an Ashley Cole type in there but its not practical given our financial status and the fact the club is in limbo until we get the cancer out.
Im a plumber....I would love to drive a ferrari but I cant afford one...so I stick with what I can afford.
You can want better but until you can afford better....you get what you can!
Stop whinging about Roy signing someone "not good enough for LFC" and open your eyes.....theres a very valid reason why we are signing players of this calibre(two reasons in fact).........its not Roys fault,in fact he has done a great job in the window with what he had to play with!

we are looking for improvement in the squad and we have to accept its going to come slowly for a while. but at least as far as left backs go we are more solid with konchesky and aurelio than we were with insua and aurelio.
Agreed, Andy. I can understand some people's disappointment to a certain extent, as Konchesky is never going to be a star-calibre type of signing. But, to suggest that he's a joke of a player or that Roy has plumbed depths that Rafa would never have dreamed of doing with this signing is utter nonsense. Rafa unquestionably signed his share of dross during his time as manager (amongst the undisputed quality players he did bring in). In fact, making reference to Rafa in relation to this particular signing is hardly clever considering the last left back Benitez signed. After all, if Konchesky's a joke and a 'stratosphere' below the level of Liverpool Football Club, how deep exactly should we be digging to find Andrea Dossena's level?
