Are team is getting weaker and I bet we wont even get half his fee to spend on other players.

btw that takes are net spend since the Yanks come to the club into negative

look forward to a season of mediocre portion

I'm a little worried about this. End of August we get a £20m fine and this kinda coincides with when the fine will be implemented. Sorry for being negative lads but I just don't feel pessimistic about any money been made available.

Your talking to the wall mate, some of them wont listen or believe it or think it will all go away and sort itself out by itself, it wont though.

What gets me Ciggy is when I browse various boards I see paople thinking we are going to sign the likes of Banega, Inler, Scott Parker etc. Since when have we brought in players either just as good or at least adequate to do a job in replacing the players going out since Twit & :censored: have been here or in the last 18 months or so. We haven't and whilst those 2 little leeches are at the club we will get hung out to dry even more.

And as I stated in my initial post further up the thread. What a coincidence that we sell Mascherano for more or less what the penalty fine will be bang at the end of August.

What a sad state of affairs we are in. If someone would have told me we would be in this :censored: 5 years back I'd have probably booked them in to see a psychiatrist !!!

I prefer to adopt a wait and see approach.

Ciggs i think your great you know that but you were one of the people that thought that Stevie and Torres were being sold to sort out the debt.
They are still here.
I am in no way defending the owners, but i will wait and see if Roy gets any money to buy anyone now Masher is on his way.

What I am lead to believe Ben is that purslow promised Torres in Majorca when he flew out there, that the take over would be done and dusted before the transfer window closed. And that new players would be arriving and there would be investment in the playing squad, this came from Tony Barrett, Tony Evans and Rory Smith.

So basically Purse=low has lied to Torres he would have gone I am sure of that, its still not to late though is it?

And on gerrard no offers came in for 30 million for him thats why hes still here according to them journos.

But its plain as the nose on your face the asset stripping is happening only its low key or maybe not now with mascherano leaving.
Its happening Ben I know you dont want to accept it mate but it is.

I remember people saying almost exactly that when Xabi left for Real.

Its definitly happening alright.  I guess it would of been too obvious, caused too much fan backlash, and jeopardized any potential sale to sell Torres and Gerrard.

instead we send a good player, finally fully fit out on loan in the hope that next year we'll get 16m.
We sell a young player with a lot of talent that we spent years developing.
You can also throw Yossi and Riera in there.  Now Masch gone for less than we wanted.

Will be interesting to see what happens before the window closes.
If we sign nobody, or just Konchesky... we should be worried.

I dont buy it though.
If that was said and Torres believed it then he would have to be pretty naive.
Just the press claiming to be in the know for me.
Who knows if there was any contact regarding clubs buying Gerrard. Certainly not me.
But the majority on here where 100% certain that those two were being sold and they are still here.

I for one am reasonably ok about Masch leaving and the relatively low valuation put on his head - thats not to say i agree with how he went about things or that i doubt his worth, i just think the whole episode will accelerate the yanks leaving our club and thus help the club overall move forward.

What this episode shows is that contracts are meaningless and if a players wants to leave there is pretty much nothing you can do about it - so why did Mach want to leave so badly? Well to his credit the answer does not seem to be money, after all if we believe the papers he's only going to get paid £85k/week at Barcelona, thats still obviously a lot of money but below the PL top earners and seemingly way below what the likes of Yaya Toure must have been earning at Barcelona given what he's supposed to be on at Man City. None of us know the ins and outs of his private life and the situation with his wife and family but it probably did play a part. However, the biggest issus is likely to have been the desire to win trophies - without significant investment we look far from doing that at the moment.

Lets face it, we have some world class players in our ranks (Masch included), but unless you are Liverpool through-and-through like Carra and Stevie can we really expect them to hang around while the club sorts itself out, if it ever does? Yes, we pay their wages and yes we may well have resuced careers like Masch's but he did give his all for the last three and a half years (up till the last few weeks and the start of last season) - he like the others have seen very little back from Liverpool FC in the meantime. Don't get me wrong, i will always be a fan, but we desperately need investment if we are ever to get back to where we should be - investment in the team, the brand, a new stadium i could go on.

Let me put it this way, if this summer Nando had basically said "i want to win trophies, i think i can do that with Liverpool and trust the owners and management to get the club moving in the right direction with a view to us winning trophies in the next 2-3 years. But if i do not see progress within the next 12 months, then i will reconsider my options, until then i am 110% committed to LFC". I think in such a situation most of us would have to say, fair enough, he's showing his commitment and giving us an opportunity to get our s*** in order - we'd have been pragmatic enough to accept he unltimately had to do what was best for him but we'd have been happy knowing he was also giving LFC a chance to show he could win things at the club and not have to consider moving on.

Well it seems to me that Masch may well have said exactly that 12 months ago - since then we're still looking for new owners and the necessary investment, exited the champions league early and finished 7th in the premiership with no champions league football this year - can we really begrudge him a move without paying some attention to the failings of our own club in the meantime???

By the time we are in a position where a player wants to leave we are very unlikely to get top dollar for him and the circling vultures know that. But that situation is of our own creation in part - the lack of success, or momentum towards it, is paralysing. We have to get the club back on the right footing with new owners and investment in all the right areas, without that and the success it breeds our chances of attracting and retaining such world class players are very very low IMHO - if we feel like they owe Liverpool FC their full and undiminishing commitment then i think we as a club also owe them a commitment to deliver the opportunitis needed to allow them the chance of ending their relatively short careers with the medals they probably deserve or at least deserve to be competing for.

When Cole signed he said it was because of Roy's plans and who Roy was looking to sign.
I really doubt Joe signed cos he thought we were selling Masch, Aqua etc and signing Poulsen, jones, konchesky maybe.

Im certain Torres and Gerrard must of being told something to make them commit.

We now have Lucas, Poulsen, Gerrard and Spearing for Centre Mid.  Thats a lot worse then when he had Alonso, masch, Gerrard, Lucas.
