Have you ever heard of giving a player time to develop? He has shown he can finish when given the chance and at 1.5Mil I think he could prove to be a handy signing.

You see this is where I disagree, sure a player can develop, look at Stevie, Nando, reina etc but they must be at a high standard to begin with, you can't have ambitions of winning anything and playing players on a regular basis who have so much to learn, it will never work.

It was a good goal, and I wasn't expecting him to do that. Not especially skillful as all he could do was wallop it like he did, and hope the keeper didn't have the reflexes to divert it wide. Goal apart, he had a header cleared off the line and another that flew absolutely miles wide, while his general play was rather ineffective to put it mildly. Running offside, being brushed off the ball, and not using the ball well enough are symptomatic of his performances. IMHO, you could put just about any player from the Championship upwards in a red shirt and people would see something in him.

We desperately need another striker.

Worked tirelessly in a lone strikers role and committed himself well I thought .....and he thoroughly deserved his ovation from the kop for that moment of brilliance when he swept the ball into the roof of Arsenals net ....the kid has definitely got something that much was apparent for all to see at Anfield on Sunday ...Its just a simple matter of applying himself with the same conviction he showed today
I think Liverpool have got themselves a player here ,and this season will I think serve to establish that

However I still think we need another striker ...that much is a given ...but I would definitely be retaining this lads services if only as an impact sub

I agree...I think because of his youth he has been overwhelmed at being at such a big club and lets face it he was thrown in at the deep end a lot last season when Torres was out.I'd say too much pressure at times and a lack of confidence inspiring management together got to him a bit.

Im not saying he'll be a world beater but I do think he can become a player given the right guidance.But he is gonna need a string of games,none of this 10 minutes here and there or you can play if Nando is fuc'ked.

Give the lad a chance because he looks like he just may grasp it....he's young and needs to believe in himself a bit more!

I thought he worked his socks off throughout the game and you could tell when he went off he was completely gassed. Deserved a goal for all the hard work so good for him.

can't deny the lad done well and could have had 2 goals. He just needs to keep an eye on the linesman. There were a number of times he should have beaten the offside trap, but he kept running a second or two too early.

We really should have punished their back line, they were pushing high up and weren't all that hot in keeping a straight line at all times.

What he needs to do is keep an eye on the last defender...

What he needs to do is keep an eye on the last defender...

..and also on the ball

fortunately the talk of him going on loan to west brom has subsided. he'll still get enough games even if we do bring another striker in imo, which we do need desperately.

DAVID NGOG is ready to knuckle down and show his thumping strike against Arsenal can be a sign of things to come.

Liverpool’s young French forward got the Reds’ first Premier League goal of the campaign on Sunday when smashing a terrific drive past Manuel Almunia in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

Much of the time since the game finished, though, has been spent with people dissecting Almunia’s apparent fallibilities, simply because Ngog was able to beat him at the near post.

That, however, does Ngog a disservice.

When Fernando Torres scored a similar goal against Manchester United last season, the only thing on the agenda was the quality of the strike – and that, in truth, should be the case now.

Yet, for a number of reasons, Ngog does not enjoy the same backing in the stands as Torres and that means his critics are sceptical about whether he will really be able to forge a successful career at Anfield.

But Ngog has faith in his ability and even though there was speculation about him moving away this summer, the Parisian is determined to stick around and show strikes of the quality against Arsenal can become the norm.

“I am happy at Liverpool,” said Ngog. “You don’t know how things change but now I am focused on the club and I’m trying to do my best for Liverpool.

“ I am a striker and I want to score a lot of goals for Liverpool.

“I worked hard for this and so it’s good when it comes off. When Javier (Mascherano) passed the ball to me in the box I couldn’t see so many solutions around me, so I just took a shot and that was that.”

There was nothing flash about the way Ngog – who has scored four of Liverpool’s five goals this season and was brought down for the penalty that led to the other – explained that moment but, then again, that is just him
Shy and reserved, all Ngog wants to do is carry on trying to improve and he could not wish to have a better teacher to learn from; a fully-fit Torres might keep him out of the starting line-up but he is also a fantastic mentor.

“He really helps us,” said Ngog. “Fernando is a key player and it’s good for our future. It was a boost. When big players like him and Stevie say they are staying it’s a good thing for Liverpool. We are a big club and we need big players.”

“The (Premier League) has started and though it is tough, this is what we want. We want to be involved in big games. We have confidence now and hopefully we will win the next game.”

The next game to which Ngog refers comes at the City of Manchester Stadium next Monday night when Liverpool go head-to-head with a side with designs on becoming Premier League champions.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini and his assistant David Platt were interested observers at Anfield on Sunday but Ngog feels Liverpool can make light of Joe Cole’s suspension and build on their efforts against Arsenal – thanks to their new manager.

“Yes, it was a good point because when we went down to 10 men we realised it was going to be difficult to get a point but we were happy to get it,” he said.

“I don’t know if Joe deserved the red card. He just wanted to do well.

“So far it’s been really good (under Roy Hodgson).

“He talks really closely with the players. He has a lot of experience and this will help us to be at a top level. He has managed for a long time and he’s good for the club.”

Seems like the Kid is very level headed and has no Ego .....Our we sure he's French

in all seriousness though the Kids got ability and if he couples that with the obvious humility he has ....then he will hopefully be around for some considerable time ....
