Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Reg you can refuse to "swoon" in front of the new manager, you can call him sh!t, you can laugh at his appointment, you can take the mickey out of the way he speaks, you can do what you like mate it matters not a jot to me. I've said it all the way through, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and to behave in a way in which they believe is the way to go. It's for them to reconcile the irony of the way they behaved towards this manager, and the way they behaved towards anyone who dared to criticise his predecessor, feck all to do with me.

No doubt much as you'd love me to I'm not going to get involved in a discussion over the previous managers record either, and whether it was "first class" or not. We've done that one so many times it isn't funny, and I note that out of the six seasons in charge, you choose by a distance his best effort in the league to make the point. Perhaps the best way to judge how "first class" he was/is, is to compare how the bloke who succeeds him gets on. It'll be interesting to see how he goes, having so far made a profit of around 8 million quid in transfers.I'm quite happy to wait and quietly confident that we will see an improvement.

And there you go again with your "massive, fanatical abuse" that I'm supposed to have given the previous manager. I'm not sure you even believe that yourself, but it is of course utter nonsense. Why don't you find some examples of this "massive fantatical abuse" in amongst my 10000 or so posts? I know it makes it far easier to defend a football situation and a football discussion if you don't bother debating football and simply label the critic a "Rafa hater", but it's well wide of the mark with me. Like I say, I don't "hate" anyone, never have.

And the preacher thing . So it's OK for you to preach to me that I "hated" the previous manager (and this is the third or fourth time you've done it recently), but when I defend the accusation I'm "preaching" to you.

Give over Reg, he's gone mate, let it go. If he is as fantastic as you say he was, we'll do far worse from now on and you can crow about "we   told you so". until then, lets just see how the new bloke gets on eh?

Mick, I'm sure I'm not alone in smiling whilst reading the above, your selective memory bordering on denial, is admirable. Of course you want to 'let it go' and move on, people with your mindset usuaully do.

This is boring now Rafa has gone after to be honest an average stint in charge A couple of trophies in 5/6 years and twice taking us out the top 4. Roy is now the man and it would be nice if people could just back him and move on, to be honest at first I was not impressed but he is winning me over severy single day and so far this conduct and transfer buisness has been excellant.

Absolutely right mate. "Massive, fanatical abuse" and he accuses me of having a selective memory  Fecking hell.
The challenge is still there Reg, I've made 10,000 posts and if you can find one where I've abused the ex manager, massively, fanatically or in any other way you're a better man than me.

It's a disgraceful thing to say and then repeat, but there you go. Far easier to discredit the poster than actually to debate the football matters. Unfortunately, it's typical of the way exchanges went on here, and this is exactly why I flatly refuse to debate such things any more.

These days I simply deal in facts. This World Class manager left us 7th in the league, behind Aston Villa, Tottenham etc etc. Our new manager, World Class or not has to try and improve on that.

"Massive, fanatical abuse" though. Roy Hodgsons had more abuse on here in four weeks than the previous manager got in the last four years of his tenure. In Reg's book, pointing out we were seventh last season is probably "fanatical abuse", well it isn't in mine. It's simply a statement of fact.

 Don't you start. I said I'd forgotten already "how good Aquilani actually was" when he played. I have. Hopefully if he was that good, he can do it again a few times this season and remind me.

I was not excited when we got Roy,in fact I'll be honest I did not want him...but listening to him talk and learning more about the man I'm happy enough he is here now.He talks sense and says things as they are and comes across as honest and very "with it".There is not doubt that he can get the best out of players, you just have to look at what he done with Fulham.A mediocre squad yes,but they were well organized and capable of beating anyone on their day...Doing so well in the UEFA cup with a team like that is a huge acheivment, remember their match against Juventus? fantastic!
Im looking forward to the season now...we will see more players playing where they are best and more players playing to their full potential as a result..plus less rotation!

What I will say though is that the whole Joe Cole signing and Stevie staying thing was IMO pre fabricated by the board and maybe Roy too! What I mean is they knew fans would be wary bringing Roy here...so we got him then we got Joe Cole(deal was already done, but they held off letting us know.... to endear Roy to us)

Then after that Gerrard pledges his future to us,I reckon this was also already decided...in fact Roy himself that Gerrard and Carra helped in "selling" the club to Cole......why would Gerrard do that if he was gonna leave??

Someone is clever, cause its worked....a lot of people have changed their minds on Roy already and we aint hardly kicked a ball!
Good luck to the man..I dont feel duped,i feel happy enough that someone has cared enough to take the fans feelings and wants into consideration.

Like I said I was all for him coming (and I was one of them obviously who would have welcomed just about anyone) but I must admit I had no idea he would have handled himself as well as he has, none at all. TBPH I never really took much notice of him when he was at Fulham although their fans absolutely loved him, mind you when you're used to having c...s like Lawrie Sanchez as your manager I suppose you'd love anyone.

Mick......... you reread them yourself but I certainly have no desire to read through your reams and reams again.

Deny it as much as you like, its there for all to see and jumping on other peoples posts to immediately agree a point is.... belittling, surely you dont need to put a group around you to add credibility to your denials?

A shrink would have a field day with you mate.

Reg you have accused me time and time again of doing something I've never done. I don't like that particularly but there's not an awful lot I can do about it. It's no problem though, we're all good.

We could do a poll: Did Mick abuse Rafa?

I have my opinion but I'm not getting involved!
